** my first page two **

Did mine in my driveway, took every panel off, sanded them, primed them, wet sanded again, painted and sanded, then painted again. Did it all with Krylon Spray Paint from Walmart. Cost about $200 and best part is if I get any chips/scratch's, I just fix them. But, panel off is the best way to get a complete color change. Maybe the experts can do it w/ the panels on, but not me.

All there is to paint body color with the panels off is a 1/2" border on the edges of the hood, doors and trunk and the fender and quarter lips inside the front and rear compartment. You can do all that with a single spray can you buy the color of your car from Duplicolor. Certainly not worth the days it takes to disassemble and reassemble the whole body...at least to me. I can see it if your restoring a 69 Camaro where theres a lot to paint besides the outside. If you just want to, or feel better doing it, its not that its a bad thing though. Its like repainting your whole house because you scratched the door.

yea I guess. I wanted to ensure that I got the panel from all sides, like you said, the boarder. I also wanted to address anything under the skin (rust n stuff) and didn't want any over-spray. I also was doing a coupe to GT conversion so I had the GT clip and misc parts off already. I also was modifying the front fenders, hood and I installed a new set of rear scoop panels, so I guess the real reason I did a "panel off" was because I had all the panels off.
