I think it's time Proud-2 had it's own build up thread since Proud-1 and Proud-3 have one. Mostly for my convenience to be able to go back and reference what I have done.
To get caught up we have to refer to some archived threads...
Proud-2 on the set wearing Louisianna License plates
After the shoot was over, I went and picked it up...
luckily this was 3 months before Katrina hit. The area where the car was store was completely submerged in water and all the other props from the movie were destroyed.
Only a few weeks after the Hurricane Rita evacuation in which Proud-2 also would have been lost, I attended the Capitol City Ruckus 2005
Daytona 2006
Which just happened to coincide with the "premiere weekend" of Stay Alive in March of 2006
That last shot wasn't even in the script, the director liked the car so much he decided to use it as a backdrop for that scene.
Since the movie I've only made small changes... Pretty much keeping it in the Stay Alive configuration, but I've made a few tweaks here and there.
And I still take it out for a cruise every now and again
As of today, the last time the car was driven was at the Rockin Red River Ruckus Rally
where after everything is said and done, the car earned respect for the way it handled the course. After Blake allowed a HUGE gap to form from the lead pack, Proud-2 as lead car for the Peloton, was able to catch back up to the lead pack.
Coincidently (?) the transmission refused to shift into first gear by the time I got it home.
The next chapter in the saga will involve a new Transmission... Stay Tuned.
I hadn't driven Proud-2 since the Ruckus in October 2007 when the transmission locked up. I should have messed with it sooner, but I finally got around to discovering that all it needed was a select cable. New cable installed and it's better than new. The only pain is removing the center console to get to the cable. Even more a pain when you have a custom console.
But the good news is that Proud-2 is back and showed up at the Bud Classic today...where despite a good showing of Fieros (14), the Chevelles took the trophy for most cars (19)

I'm sure the pickups and everything else are good on that beast. But I've decided to go with the little cousin 3.4 DOHC mated to a 5 speed for this car. A twin dual cam V8 would be massive overkill for me.
Anyway Proud-2 is running again, but I need to sneak it to the inspection shop and get it smogged.
I called the station and asked what is the proper legal way to drive ia a car with an expired inspection down to the station and they replied that you can't. There is no legal way to drive a car with an expired sticker to the inspection station. No one trip permits, no mother may I, no nothing.
Kind of sucks that the government sets you up for failure. I know my luck the PoPo will be patrolling and spot my expired sticker as I'm on my way there.
Rainy days are good days. Less visibility and cops don't want to get out unless they really have to. You could always have a couple of people escort you, one in front and one in back, and use the draft method.

I really like the car, can you believe I did not even know you had it. I plan on doing the black GT I got like this one just make it a very clean sexy Fiero. You know after looking at the chops and the wild customs a really nice clean Fiero is like a breath of fresh air.

For the 5 years or so that my chop top was in and out of body shops my GT was my only running Fiero. Of course it went down as soon as the chop top went back on the road. This car has been to Daytona at least three times, San Antonio more times than I can remember, and of course my trip to the 25th was most memorable. Especially the high speed laps at Michigan International. I was originally going to put a custom body on this car but the chop top went so far over budget I've decided to leave the GT with a clean stock body.

I took Proud-2 in for its FINAL emissions test. Passed...barely but passed. Thank goodness I won't have to let these inexperienced people put my car on the dyno. I warned the guy twice about my shift pattern being very tight, (thanks to Rodney Dickman's ultimate Getrag Shift kit and custom short shifter) yet the guy proceeded to start in 3 rd gear instead of first at least three times.
Oh well got my sticker and for celebration I took some pics and went on a 200 mile cruise.
If you have seen this car in the past 5 years, (including in the movie, Stay Alive) it hasn't changed at all. I made a conscious decision to keep it exactly the same as it was in the movie. The hardest part will be if I wreck the wheels I'll have to get them repaired as they are now discontinued.
Fortunately it photographs better than it is...the paint is starting to fade badly on the decklid and clip. It's going to need a repaint sooner rather than later.
Has better paint than My car. Or my wife's car. Which is also pictured in this thread (I believe) a few posts up but you have to look past the ladies to see it lol
Jonathon, did they automatically test your car for emissions or was there a question about that? I took my 88 in two days ago and they just did a safety inspection, no emissions. But then, somewhere I read that when January 1st 2012 rolled around the next day the car is considered over 24 years old, thus no emissions requirement. Mike
I need to download some of the pics from Daytona...the car's 10th anniversary is coming up. (or whatever you call it for how long you have owned it).
Download some pictures from this last Round Up....O that's right you didn't make it...AGAIN....Starting to think you don't like up Tx people anymore....There is always the Ruckus.....

They emission tested my 88. I think some inspectors have trouble counting...the law says that 24 and newer get tested, but some people read that as 24 and older don't get tested.
Stephen... I love you too...but money is tight and I blew my wad at Daytona and my a/c is iffy. The chop top has similar little issues and I haven't had time or money to mess with them. The Indy is in worse shape, so temporarily I'm fieroless.
no problem... you reminded me to fix the link to the current thread in the Construction Zone. The link in the archives is no longer being updated obviously.
