Ooooooh, I LOVED my trip to Mad Magazine years ago!(I was a member of a cartoon and illustration club in highschool) I HIGHLY recommend doing that! (After a friend of mine was censored,(one of the famale characters was a bit 'revealing', I created a new character "Mr. Johnson, with his pen in his pocket(his pen is red)" EVERY FRAME was phallic or naughty in some way.( Mr Johnson was attacked by a hairy tornado! It 'snatched' up a car and escaped down a smelly manhole! Mr. Johnson followed it down the smelly Manhole..." I cannot believe they published some of what I drew...
In 1978 thu 1980 My grandfather played Bass in a staff band Wheeling Jamboree. I met just about everyone from HeeHaw The person that I remember most was Louis Marshall Jones (Grandpa Jones) Him in my Grandfather was good friends. My Grandfather also knew the Carter's. Where I met Johnny Cash. I started playing the Mendolin. Spent Many nights Jamming. Good Times.. I got Some old reel to reel tapes of that I need to get on disk. Fast forward a few years. I started playing staff band at ponderosa park. (Drums) The list is to long. But there is a few I still talk to now in and then. I had a big crush on Stella Parton. Some of the ones that really stick in my mind was Ray Price, George Jones and Willie Nelson. I left there with Jamie Fricky. On tour with Alabama. That lasted close to a year then got burnt out.
I realized that .I will never make the big money. I sing like a frog and if ya good at something they use it to make them look good.

I forgot to mention a few more. I met James Brown! Yup, The Godfather of Soul. Not only did I meet him, I had a drink(s) with him at the bar after one of his shows! He, had many of his band members, together with my other family members were there at the bar as well. We stayed at the bar for maybe 25 minutes or longer. After that, my brother drove with him in his big white stretch limosines to our house! That is correct, James Brown was at our house. He stayed there maybe 2 hours playing piano for the rest of the family. I got pictures of that unique evening just in case anyone doubt this could happen. The following day, I played basketball with his one of his head trumpet player, Jason. Just he and I playing basketball in my high school gym for 2 hours. WOW that was special! How lucky I am

One night I was at the local drag strip runnin' my GTO. A sandy blond haired guy came up to me asking about my times and how I got to hit the trap speed that I did. His brother has a GTO and couldn't get his to match what mine did. We talked for a bit about cars. A friend of mine later said that the guy was on an episode of PINKS runnin' a black fox body Mustang. The other car he raced was also the same type of car, but had a hot brunette driving it. I remember watching that episode too. I'll see if I can find that specific show and post it here.

Can I play too? LOL, dating myself a bit here.....
Rod Stewart when he just joined up with The Small Faces. They played at a smallish Milwaukee club called Stone Toad. Procol Harum. Hung around with the drummer, forget his name, for a whole afternoon downtown before Summerfest. Good, no great band. Of course I got in free because "I'm with the band" LOL. Three Dog Night. (Yeah, I know, hehe), they picked me up hitchiking by Milwuakee county airport (Mithchel Field) in a huge black limo. Asked if I wanted to come to their show, LOL, I said no thank you, and they let me out downtown where I went about my business of seeing the show Hair. (what a rebel I was ) Iron Butterfly. They played at a club in Waukesha called Rev's Flying Circus..... oh the stories I could tell from that place. Corey Hart, also at the summerfest grounds. Saw Hendrix at the old Milwaukee Arena, little get together after (lots of booze and fun). Waye Cochran and the CC riders at Mothers West. I could go on and on......
At the time I was a musician, and had many ops to get out and about on the music scene. The late '60s through the mid '70's were a fantastic time to be alive! If any of you get a chance to find any recordings by a Milwaukee band called Soup, check them out. A three piece band that was looking for a keyboard player that I was honored to try out for. Doug Yankus, was the lead guitarist, he was admired by Hendrix, who made a special visit to see Doug. That was my one shot at fame but it was not to be, Doug was a diabetic and passed away in '82...... too bad cause he was the best of the best in my book. I still have the albumn from them and pull it out when feeling old. Mailman was a fantastic song! http://www.answers.com/topic/soup-protocol
My wife and I had dinner with Joe Brown once. Ended up sitting with him at a comedy show with him and his ladyfriend a little while later.
Interesting evening.
I stunk up a private bathroom REALLY bad, and then Dick Chaney went in as I came out, and he came out right away and said "woooo!!!"
Chose NOT to meet w/ Hilary Clinton *shudders* Shared the elevator with Pele, the president of India, fixed Al Gore's laptop
Chilled with the dude from Counting Crows in a REALLY tiny recording studio when he was singing a few songs (Man, I was getting sooo itchy being near him and that hair of his!) and then took the elevator down with him. and chatted with India Arie after she sang a few songs for us in a small cafe.
Met a few other 'celebrities' briefly, but I'm tired... Interviewed with a semi-famous millionaire today, might work for him. Hope so, that would be a good thing. ZZZZZZZZzZzZzzZzzzz....

I can't remember his name but he was the most interesting man in the world and I think he was drinking a Dos Equis.
Funny...I don't recall meeting you at all.
Steve Farris, who was the lead guitarist for Mr. Mister, and also played with Eddie Money and Dolly Parton, hung around in the same group of people as I did in high school. I wouldn't call him a CLOSE friend, but I knew him...I remember going for a bit of a hair raising ride with him in his dad's Porsche 914. I also met Jim Irwin, who was the 8th person to walk on the moon. I was in the Air Force, stationed at the AF Academy. My boss had a second job at a gas station right off base, and one night, I stopped in to talk to him. While I was there, this guy stopped by, and the three of us just shot the bull for a while. After he left, my boss told me who he was. Very down to earth guy, yet a bit strange....

Tom Baker??!! Thats AWESOME! He's EVERYONE's favorite doctor. I actually like John Pertwee.. my friend Ray met him at an airport. The plane ride was special for him, John Pertwee on one side, James Brown and his entourage on the other, he said he was one of 3 non-famous passengers on that plane. He said James Brown was quite the character, and drank some Sake with him.
I met Tom and Lalla when I was a kid living in the UK. I was at a Blue Peter (a British childrens programme) on-location special event and got to meet them before the show. They were married at the time and still doing Doctor Who (I think around 1980). They were both funny, good natured people who were GREAT with the kids. Tom's personality is very much similar to the 4th Doctor. I would loved to have met Pertwee but sadly never had the opportunity, now he's gone.
