some of them may have "crazy tattoos", that is true..... but they all have Millions of dolllars.
oi! Kevin you want me to send them a bill???kidding i do not know them, personally.

one of the Bassist's family lives around here in MI somewhere. thats how i got to meet them.
i was carrying on, like i do, to a stranger at one of their shows, he said i was entertaining and my actions during their set proved that i liked the band, alot....well turns out to be the Nepew or cousin of said bass player. scored a backstage pass and the rest is history.

Wait... this is still in the General Fiero Chat section?

Oh, well... I forgot to say I could have talked with Jerome Bettis at the airport. He was by himelf, too, which I thought was odd.

I've met Andy Garcia in '95. At the Washington GP I had the opportunity to meet Bob Wollek. At this year Rolex 24 hours of Daytona I met ex Formula 1 Benetton driver Eddie Cheever, Scott Pruett, Luis Diaz, Hurley Haywood. But two drivers I wanted to meet since I was a kid was Ayrton Senna and Giles Villenueve.

I did not like Bob Wollek till I had lunch with him at Mid Ohio. He came over and sat with me and a Buddy at the BFG dinner. We got to talk and he was a real nice guy. I hated to hear about the bike accident.

Cheever was at the Goodyear 100 Anniversery here. THey had his indy winner down my the lake Goodyear owns and no one was around We got to talk and he was real nice.

I would have loved to met Senna. I still remember his crash and not thinking it was all that bad. Giles I just wish more had seen him race. His car control was out of this world.

Raced against Dale Jr. and Michel Waltrip. Dale was blocking for Michel and I put him into the wall (rubbin' is racin') and just missed beating Michael for the checkered flag! O.K. truth is it was in go-Karts at a charity event but it was still racing with them.

I just saw Kurt Busch at target buying 4 or so cases of Corona.....lol

And if anyone follows The Lowcash Cowboys, I know the band. And If you followed Hopesfall before they split up, I knew them too. Their vocalist is my cousin.

Has an body else met someone notable and or famous?

When I was in college I worked as an office assistant for the secretary of the Department of Music. I had a little glass-enclosed "office" next to the main office and one day when I was coming in to work Dan Gurney was sitting at my desk! I had been a race fan my whole (albeit young) life and recognized him after a few seconds. I always knew that the secretary's maiden name was Gurney and she was from California but I never put two and two together - turned out Dan was her brother and he was in town for a visit!

We had a nice, although somewhat surreal lunch in one of the university cafeterias. What a great guy!

Thanks for starting this thread - it brought back some good memories for me!

Brian Campbell - Chicago Blackhawks
and
Jason Williams - Detroit Redwings

They work out at the same gym I do. Kinda neat to get a first hand look at how NHLers workout.

A couple of years ago, I shared a picnic table at the Oshkosh AirVenture show with Harrison Ford. I was sitting down taking a break and he asked if he could share the table with me. We talked for about ten minutes or so, and I didn't realize who he was until he got up to leave. Very nice guy.
A few weeks ago, I met Col. Roy Reid when a friend of mine gave him a ride in a T-6 and a Stearman biplane. Col. Reid was flying a B-17 into Pearl Harbor the morning of the Japanese attack. His plane was the first one shot down that day by the Japanese. He was able to crash land it and I believe they only lost one crew member. If you've seen the picture of the B-17 broken in half on the ground at Pearl, you've seen his plane. A true American Hero!

Back when I ran my painting company, I was hired to paint Both of Reggie Millers houses, and both of Jalen Rose's homes. They're both a-holes imo.

Oh yeah, I've met Bob & Tom on several occasions. They only live about 3 miles from my home.

I have met a few in my time, some are really more "persons of importance" rather than real celebrities.

Forrest Whittaker - at Mardi Gras in 1998, we were chilling at a bar called "Razzoos" or something like that, he did shots with me and my buddies I was in the Navy with... I took a picture, but guess who's thumb got in the way of which celebrity? Yep, mine. I told Forrest he was a great actor, loved him in The Crying Game and Platoon... with a little luck, my pep talk helped him get that best actor oscar. Or in spite of it.

Cecil Fielder when he played in Detroit, but I met him in Milwaukee.. the team bus left without him while he was jawing with me.. he had to run to catch it. Hilarious.

Conan Obrien- Was in Milwaukee again, different year, I want to say 1992 or 1993. He was, shall we say, pursuing a young lady who would probably KILL to have the opportunity now. She was playing hard to get, he was getting hammered, and I was drunk underage and stumbling around the hotel. He was a floor above my room, so my friend Brian and I stumbled up there and decided to see what was up. He was super friendly, and soooooo funny. And tall, dang if he's not tall. Big head, too. She was trying to figure out if she wanted to roll in the hay with him, and actually asked me what she should do. I had no idea who he was at that moment, but I told her to go for it! We talked a bit more, and me and Brian said goodnight and stumbled away. They were heading back into I am assuming his room, and Brian tells me who it was. I almost turned right back around, it was funny. Of course, if he got some that night, I don't know..

Ryan Grant and his whole family at Lambeau Field For those not in the know, he's current Green Bay Packers running back- they actually took a picture of ME for THEIR family gameday album.. pretty funny experience.. By the way, Ryan's girlfriend.. wooooohooooo

Dave Chapelle - The man is EVERYWHERE in Ohio. He lives outside of Yellow Springs, and that town is about half hour north of me. My very good friend owns a business in that town, and we came from out of state at the time to see him. After he left work for the day, while walking back to my friend's house, here comes Dave the other way. I was a HUGE fan, but I did NOT dork out, thank God. He knew my buddy pretty well, it turned out.. got the introduction, and he was funny too. My wife was much the same as me with Conan, she had no idea it was Dave Chapelle. He was walking away, and I kinda knew she was in the dark, and I told her and she about fainted - it was awesome.

Tom Constanten, Robert Hunter and Vince Welnick (R.I.P.) of the Grateful Dead at different concerts, another great friend of mine is Vince's posthumous biographer of sorts.(White Punks on Dope!!!!!!) I corresponded with Robert back in 2001 when my Mom died, what a generous man to take the time out for me. He's someone very special. I met Tom at a festival in the Poconos when the car blew a fuel injector..stuck in the middle of nowhere for the better part of a week.. at least the music was phenomeal that weekend previous.

Dave Katz and Ed McGee of Ekoostic Hookah, and the rest of the band, but less so.. at various shows, lets say we have seen each other a lot in the past.. I'm sure they are like "There's that guy again with the tattoos.."

Vassar Clements (R.I.P.) , Peter Rowan and David Grisman (Original Bluegrass Boys and friends..) At different festivals.

Duke, drummer from Country Joe and the Fish.. man, was that a wild night. What the heck is his last name, anyway? TOO MUCH homemade wine.

Gary Gygax and Dave Arneson, the co-creators of Dungeons and Dragons (R.I.P. both) at Gen Con game fair, the same time I met Conan O'Brien in Milwaukee.

George Takei - Gay asian Mr Sulu from Star Trek! He was also at the game fair. Wow, there was a lotta beef at that rodeo.

And while not famous, I also met a stripper who could have fooled Michael Douglas, she looked so much like Katherine Zeta Jones. It was uncanny. Her girlfriend was fine, too. They were business clients of mine. They walked in, and they could stop everyone in their tracks.. what vamps!

Then again, I am a reluctant "celebrity" in local latenight TV to boot.. you can still see me on evening commercials in the local cable market on my ex-boss's commercial/video thing. I won't link to it, its too embarrassing. I am not a "in front of the camera" person, but he insisted. Maybe after a few more years the sting will go away and I can laugh at it again, then and only then MAYBE I will llink it. IF its still available. Until then, the answer is "Nowaynevernotachanceinheck" Seriously.

I have had several famous people on my plane. Ron Jeremy, Britney Murphy, Ashtin Kutcher, Metallica, Ratt minus the original lead singer, Triumph, Jim Neughbors (Gomer Pile), I think Dr. Laura was on once, several Baltimore Ravens players, a few governors and senators. Recently while flying to Memphis Shawn Johnson was in the cabin with me, but not in my row. A boy band named Soul Decision was onboard once. They thought they were a bigger deal than they really were.

Britney Murphy was really sweet, and Jim Neighbors was a cool guy. Both are dead now. The coolest people I have ever met were random people, not famous.

I met Waylon Jennings when I was a little squirt. I'm the little kid, that's my dad on the right, and obviously Waylon on the left. My dad was pretty much his biggest fan in the world.

I met Nolan Ryan as a kid. He is in the pantheon of sports heroes for me. (Nolan Ryan, Earl Campbell, Hakeem Olijiwaun, and A.J. Foyt).

I met Sergio Araggones (Groo the Wanderer) and Wendy Pini (Elfquest) at a convention. Both were nice.

I've met (and are kinda friends with) a few authors. Kevin J Anderson, Michael Stackpole, R.M. Meluch, and a few more.

Dan Gurney is a really cool guy. I've never met him, but what a career! I bet he would have a lot of great stories... like Mario Andretti or Carol Shelby.

As for me personally, I had a lot of opportunities growing up where my parents could afford it. I don't really want to start name dropping, but I went to private school when I was a kid in elementary school, and then boarding school for middle school years... a lot of famous people sent their kids to the same schools. In the line of work that I'm in now, I share an office with numerous people you see on TV all the time. I get to work with them directly. Suffice it to say though, my Ford Explorer is surrounded by Bentleys, Maseratis, Mercedes, Corvettes, and especially... Escalades.

I'll drop one name though... one of my best friends through Elementary school, Henry Hagar, ended up marring President Bush's youngest daughter. Probably a friend I should have kept in touch with, but I stopped talking to him by the time I went to high school. Heh...

Not that it makes me any more special because of the people whom I've met, but I've quickly gotten over the star struck mentality. They really are just people... honestly. Fame can really change someone though. For most, they become eccentric, usually in a positive way. For others though, it gets bad. I'll not mention a name, but one person who I'm speaking of is a very famous singer/actor. This is a person who has really been "out of touch" for a while. "Her" staff sent out an urgent memo asking everyone to make sure that NO ONE looks her directly in the eyes because it upsets her.

I hope to God I never get like that... (pretty sure I won't).

How ironic that all four of them at one time played for Houston area teams, or live(d) in Houston, Texas.

As for me:

Slick Willie (William Clinton) at the airport on the flightline.
Toby Keith
Donald Rumsfeld (Former sec of defense)
General Petereus (Afghanistans new Commander)
George Bush (I have his challenge coin)
Numerous WWE Wrestlers (Show in Iraq back in the day. lol)

And I meet some of the most famous (to me) people daily:

The Warriors (Combat Veterans) assigned to my unit at Fort Riley KS. I am honored to be among them.

I've met several famous people:
Danny Aielo and his son DannyAielo III (who passed away earlier this year)
Brad Johnson, GW Bailey, George C. Scott, Kathleen Quinlan, Tom Sizemore,
Joe Estevez (Martin Sheen's brother), Richard Petty, Scott Sharp, Paul Newman,
Mimi Rogers, Tom Cruise, Lou Gillotti, Bob Sharp, and a few other race drivers
I can't remember off the top of my head;
and I went to school with Alan Ruck (Cameron in Ferris Bueller's Day Off, now on
the tv show on NBC Person's Unknown)
and had dinner with Ian Gillan and Ritchie Blackmore from Deep Purple
and Chuck Norris and Clarence Gilliard III
(i did a lot of extra work for tv and movies in Texas)

Fellas,

I suppose the one criterion to use, in deciding who is "famous" and who is not, is to use Wikipedia. If you put the name of the person, in question, in the Search tab , my thought is if that person names pops up, you have a famous person. Am I on to somethng here?

If so, I met: Rick Estrin and Charly Baty of Little Charlie and the Nighcats.
I also had lunch with Mitch Woods of Mitch Woods and his Rocket 88's.
I also met Elvin Bishop
I also met Sam Posey
I also met Mr. Shultz, the ex-President of GM
I met Chi Chi Rodriguez (the golfer)
I was also IN the pit-lane with Mario Andretti's race team. Just for a short time, maybe 10 minutes. Mario was getting out of his racer, so his mechanics could fix something. Mario is a small guy, maybe 5' 4' I then wandered down and watched Rodger Penske's team scramble all over their yellow racer. It was weird, nobody paid attention to me?
I also conversed with Arnold Palmer--commenting to the gallery about his riches and the home nearby that was for sale--I made the 50 or so in the gallery and him, laugh. He looked at me and asked if I wanted to sell it to him? He asked me this question with a twinkle in his eye and a smile on his face.

Cordially,
Kevin

NO, MY DAD IS HIS BIGGEST FAN! Lol! I loooooove Waylon, too. I'm a huge Willie/Waylon fan. Then again, anyone from Chet's label is okay by me. It would appear you were too young to appreciate it at the time, but that photo is priceless. Good stuff!

Yes and all wore #34 except AJ, who was always #14.

Having the challenge coin is awesome! My one regret from my air force days is not getting my hands on a challenge coin from my (now disbanded) fighter squadron.

I did like the music as a kid, but I definitely appreciate it more now. Same as Frank Sinatra, I liked it as a kid but I loooove his music now(I'm 24).

A lot of ghost hunting people consider me notable as I was on TV. Pish posh.

Tom Baker??!! Thats AWESOME! He's EVERYONE's favorite doctor. I actually like John Pertwee.. my friend Ray met him at an airport. The plane ride was special for him, John Pertwee on one side, James Brown and his entourage on the other, he said he was one of 3 non-famous passengers on that plane. He said James Brown was quite the character, and drank some Sake with him.

If you get a chance, see Tony Bennett. He's still touring, and by GOD that man can still sing. I am quite impressed, for as old as he is. If you love Sinatra, its just another wing in that mansion.

Excuse any misspellings.

Had a beer w/ Jerry O'Connell (sliders, stand by me. Etc) he was a REAL nice guy.
Met Tim Robbins(he was nice, but was incognito, he had his son with him at a mets game)I kept things subtle, but someone started screaming at him, and he freaked out a little.

Met Donald Trump, had a crazy moment with Regis, walked one a set by accident and ended up next to Mel Gibson(bloodied) and that Ron guy from happydaysat with a hat) guarded Geraldine ferra and Rudy Guilaini,my uncle is an actor (does small parts on cop-type shows, as a cop or a jurer)
Used to work w/ Glen Beck, the Money Honey,Becky Quick,Geraldo, Rupie Murdock, and some other news online folks at Fox news. It gets old quick. Was funny watching my sister-in-law say 'Mr. Trump will see you now' on TV, though...

I've been on TV a few times, but usually, it wasn't such a happy reason (9/11, Daniel Pearl, anthrax scare, etc..)
Met some others, but those are the ones I remember right now...

I live a few miles from Branson, so we can include about all of the "stars" there.

I worked for Yakov Smirnoff, who is a nice guy, cannot drive worth a crap, and had no discernible accent when he didn't need it. I "won a contest" at work to get to go for a ride in his Ferrari, and I swear I thought at one point that someone had played a joke on me, he should not be behind the wheel.

I have had two one on one conversations with Sam Walton, the first time I didn't even know who he was, just some guy talking to me outside of Wal-Mart. He was a great guy who's legacy has been pissed on by his children.

When I was had the Taxi in New Orleans Trent Reznor got in my cab, not a lot to say there, he wasn't too talkative, he seemed really pissed off.

I used to deliver Beer to Fats Domino once a week. Nice, short guy. Kinda like a grandfather figure with a pimped out house.

I'm sure there are others I am not remembering.

Brad

oh crap i forgot the Comic Conventions.....Chicago Comicon....i have been to 2-3 of these...

to start lets see a big, gun double whammy.....
at a Chi town Con, i hooked up with Painter/Creator Nelson.....(one name only) well, we first met in a hotel bar, got smashed and really hit it off. so the next day, day 1 of the Con, we meet for breakfast and do the Con thing....later that night we do the Bar scene Take 2.....but his boys are there. Dark Horse Entertainment, heres the first famous guy.
his name is JOE QUESADA.....this guys art defines some of the best legends of the comic industry to date. the Bat is one, some spiderman if i recall. well fast forward to the 2000's and he turns into the reigning Editor-In-Chief of MARVEL comics.....thats Famous and rich.....well i shake Joes hand and he then introudces me to a Mister David Prowse.....Yes y'all, that David Prowse. Fricken Darth Vader!!!

the org. Man in the suit. the actual human that IS Darth Vader on the big screen....awesome. soooooo tall. the night ends like the first. on the DH company card of course.....getting hammered with Darth Vader.....

i also aquired a whole "long" box of autographed comics....like from the guys that killed SuperMan in the 90's....DAN JURGENS and his crew.
TODD MCFARLANE.....Spawn, Spiderman. owner of the Mcguier homerun breaker balls.....or whatever they turn out to be called.

i too have met Mr. Aragones and Miss Pini. Sergio drew a little sketch in the signiture.

i got to talk real quick with STAN (the MAN) LEE on the esclator he was talking to JIM LEE changer of the XMEN. for those who know. thats awesome, right??
uhhh......thems the big ones....

wow! i have been around....good times every time!
later
Dan
