(CNN) -- Golfer Tiger Woods has been taken to a Florida hospital after being injured in a car wreck near his Windermere home early Friday, officials said.
The one-car accident occurred about 2:25 a.m., according to an incident report from the Florida Highway Patrol.
Woods, 33, had just pulled out of his driveway and begun to drive down the street when his Cadillac SUV struck a fire hydrant, the Florida Highway Patrol said.
The front of his vehicle then struck a tree. He has been transported to Health Central Hospital, the statement said.
The crash is under investigation and charges are pending, though it was not clear who could face charges. The accident did not appear to have been alcohol-related, the statement said.
Woods lives in Orange County with his wife, supermodel Elin Nordegren, and two children.
Woods has won 93 tournaments, 71 of those on the PGA Tour, including the 1997, 2001, 2002 and 2005 Masters Tournaments, 1999, 2000, 2006 and 2007 PGA Championships, 2000, 2002, and 2008 U.S. Open Championships, and 2000, 2005 and 2006 Open Championships, according to his official Web site.

"ORLANDO, Fla. — Tiger Woods was seriously injured early Friday when he hit a fire hydrant and a tree near his Florida home, authorities said.
The Florida Highway Patrol said the PGA star hit the fire hydrant and tree as he pulled out of his driveway in his 2009 Cadillac sport utility vehicle."
How the heck do you hit a fire hydrant AND a tree pulling out of your driveway - let alone hard enough to be seriously injured? There's gotta be more to the story.
At least they did include this bit of important info....

Woods, 33, owns a home in the exclusive subdivision of Isleworth near Orlando. Orange County property records indicate his home is valued at $2.4 million.

Isn't he one of them Muslins? I want to see his birth certifacate before he is allowed in an American hospital. Let alone an American golf course. And what kind of name is Tiger, anyway? African? Does he hide in the woods? Or does he just drive with them? (Just kidding, guys. ) I hope he and the hooker are well soon and able to play. Really. All kidding aside, I want my neighbor to be OK.

He and his wife were engaged in some "frisky business" on their front lawn, and then they got stuck. Luckily, a certain forum member happened along and managed to separate them. Tiger was so embarrassed, he jumped into the car and crashed it.

I suspect he would be willing to personally provide answers to all your questions--without hiding behind the sealing of anything.

Yeah because we all know those SUV's have mind of there own...
Shouldn't that read: "Woods, 33, had just pulled out of his driveway and begun to drive down the street when he struck a fire hydrant with his Cadillac SUV."?

I agree with Formula. THeres more to the story. He hit a fire hydrant, a tree and his wife had to smash out the rear glass to get him out ? How did that smash an Escalades 4 doors so bad he couldnt just get out of any of them. ? According to story I heard, she heard the crash and ran out to the yard and (ironicly) used a golf club to break the rear hatch glass.

Saylor said Woods' wife told officers she was in the house when she heard the accident and "broke the back window with a golf club." He said the front-door windows were not broken and that "the door was probably locked." "She supposedly got him out and laid him on the ground," he said. "He was in and out of consciousness when my guys got there."
There are rumors flying that Tiger was having an affair. There also are rumors flying that him and his wife were arguing about the affair that night. I think the wife beat him over the head with the same Golf club she used to get him out of the car, that is why she had the Golf club and why he was driving erratically. This could turn into the World's most expensive divorce.

If the doors were even locked, they open when you pull the inside handle. He wasnt unconcious because his injuries were a few bumps and a cut lip, and he crawled over the seats to climb out the back. Either the car was involved in a lot larger accident than reported or the whole thing is being fabricated after the fact. Ill have to see a pic of the Escalade to decide. Im sure it will show up on news or Extra in a day or 2.

Tiger Woods: Injuries Caused by Wife, Not SUV Posted Nov 28th 2009 6:08AM by TMZ Staff
Tiger Woods did not suffer facial lacerations from a car accident. They were inflicted by his wife, Elin Nordegren -- according to a conversation Woods had Friday after the accident. Tiger has yet to be formally interviewed by the Florida Highway Patrol -- that should happen this afternoon. But we're told Tiger had a conversation Friday -- with a non-law enforcement type -- detailing what went down before his Escalade hit a fire hydrant.
We're told he said his wife had confronted him about reports that he was seeing another woman. The argument got heated and, according to our source, she scratched his face up. We're told it was then Woods beat a hasty retreat for his SUV -- but according to our source, Woods says his wife followed behind with a golf club. As Tiger drove away, she struck the vehicle several times with the club.
We're told Woods became "distracted," thought the vehicle was stopped, and looked to see what had happened. At that point the SUV hit the fire hydrant and then hit a tree.
We're also told Woods had said during the conversation Friday he had been taking prescription pain medication for an injury, which could explain why he seemed somewhat out of it at the scene. Read more: http://www.tmz.com/#ixzz0YAZFIH8S
Are you a Golf pro, whose wife attacks you with the very clubs you play with? Are you tired of her not putting out? Call us at 1-800 Springer, and tell us about it.
"No matter how good she looks, somebody, somewhere, is tired of putting up with her sh!t."
Very well put.
Even a supermodel who complains about everything is ugly.
Let's put it in terms everyone can understand. When your fiero is giving you trouble, and you're just sick of working on it because you can never get it to the point it runs right. Doesn't the thought cross your mind to just climb in the driver seat of another car and put the Fiero off for a few days?

No, because my Fiero may come after me at 2 am chasing me with a golf club if it caught me driving another car...
It's already pissed off enough for having to share the garage with a 2010 SS Camaro.

Jim, does your wife know you are studying, ahh, interpersonal realtionships with other women, especially ugly ones? If no, would you like to keep it that way? My Christmas list is on the way.

As set up from the factory (the computer programming can be changed) when you put the vehicle in "Drive", the doors lock automatically and on new cars, even as old as our 98 Rivera and my '99 Silverado, pulling the door handle will NOT unlock the doors.

On Sandi's Riv, when you put it in Park the doors unlock. On my Silverado, they would not. When I had to have the BCM reprogrammed for the fog lights I asked the shop foreman if it could be set up like the Riv, where they lock when you put it in gear and unlock in Park and he said that in '99 they could tell it to lock in gear, and it stays locked until you hit the switch to unlock, or change the computer to not lock when it goes in gear, those were the only two options. In later years, they changed it to behave like the Riv, but not in '99.
On either of them, if you lock the doors you can NOT unlock it by just pulling the door handle, that's why it was such a nuisance the way my truck was set up. I'd park, grab the door handle, and nothing would open. I'd have to unlock the doors and then use the door handle.

Like said its in the programing on a lot of new cars. Out of all the cars for a few dealers Ive worked on Ive only been in one or two that had to be unlocked to use the inside handle. Id prob guess they come from dealer new with unlocking with inside handle as default. On all my newer cars that have self locking doors (some lock when in gear, some lock when a preset speed is reached) I reprogrammed them with a few key turns to disable that. Im not so lazy that I cant hit the lock button when I get in. One of my friends has a new Escalade and his doors unlock when ignition is turned off or you pull the inside handle. Knowing him, thats the way it came, he dont mess with factory settings on anything.
