HOORAY!!!! A politician who tells it like it is. I'm glad I worked to get him elected. I'll send him a thank you for having the cojones to make his candid, insightful ( if somewhat irreverent) comment. He's doing exactly what we elected him to do: Shaking up the establishment.

You used to be someone I liked and could respect. Now you're nothing but a partisan hack. For you to believe that Republicans want anyone that gets sick to just "die quickly" is one of the most asinine things you've ever said, and here lately, you've lowered that bar pretty far.

??Huh?? In case you haven't noticed, you twits are the establishment. The White House, and both houses of Congress. Yet, despite that overwhelming advantage, when failing to be able to spend other peoples' money (but never, of course, your own) to your heart's desire, you childishly point fingers at those who reasonably told you that you could not have two servings of ice cream.
Grow up.

That's OK, man. Let that dumb sonofabitch continue to make an ass out of himself. You don't even need to bring any rope, he'll bring his own, fashion the noose, and pull the fricken lever for the trap door. Every time.

Now here it was, I was going to say that we finally had something we could agree on. But then, you edited your "I have NO desire to live in Texas" comment out, and I was unable to express my agreement that we don't want you here, either.
But tell me, NEP', for I've always been curious --- 1) Who gave you the right to define "affordable?" 2) What is "affordable," by your definition? 3) By what right do you claim the ability to steal from someone else to pay for whatever you think is good for others? 4) In what way do you distinguish your "philosophy" from totalitarianism, or organized crime?
John had the right of it, you are no more than a partisan hack. The thing that worries me most is the possibility that your affliction is a biological trait, and that empty-headed-dreaminess is a statistical symptom of the human race that outweighs our analytical skills. For those of you scoring at home, do the math.
His idea of affordable is when someone else pays for it. And, I have no desire to live in Fla. Did it once--too many dope heads who can't afford to take care of themselves or their families.
They don't mind laying the joint down long enough to stick their hand out tho.

Thanks for the laugh. Yeah, right, , like the government is gonna make it cheaper. [snicker]Next thing will be you telling us it will even be better [/snicker], . If anyone is against affordable health care, it would be the dumbocrats. They don't want tort reform. Fact is, the public option will not pass the Senate. Not without the nuclear option and then maybe even not. There will be hell to pay if it has to be done that way. The Dumbs want no debate, they do not want to let the public see the bill, they want no contrary opinions voiced about it by actual Medicare providers (trampling on first amendment rights). You said something about Americans, , ? Pelosi will not sign on a bill without it. The Dumbs are the ones who failed for a hundred years. Looks like they are gonna fail again,

Just to point out this ass hat's district includes Orlando, Eustis, Ocala among other small rural cities. So not surprised at the sheer stupidity of this person. Would anyone really be paying any attention to him at all if not for this act of ignorance? I would bet no. And how exactly does speeches like this help this country to come together to get through the tough times we currently find ourselves in? They need to stop trying to one up each other and start listening to the people that they are suppose to be representatives of.

Guys, I'm not the only one who voted for Grayson. In fact, he beat an incumbent republican in a typically (this is Florida) gerrymandered district to win his seat. Not an easy task by any means. Further, Mr. Grayson has more money than he can ever spend, so he doesn't need to steal from the taxpayers or take bribes from lobbyists. How did he earn his own fortune? For one thing, he sued the people who were stealing from the taxpayers and siphoning money that should have been spent to keep our troops in Iraq safer.
quote
Mr. Grayson has filed dozens of lawsuits against Iraq contractors on behalf of corporate whistle-blowers. He won a huge victory last month [March 2006] when a federal jury in Virginia ordered a security firm called Custer Battles LLC to return $10 million in ill-gotten funds to the government. The ruling marked the first time an American firm was held responsible for financial improprieties in Iraq." - The Wall Street Journal, April 19, 2006

I'll skip the crying part. I'll get straight to the name calling, . DUMMY ! None of those politicians need lobbyist money. Why do they still take it ? People who are rich, are never rich enough, .

I'm actually sorry that I voted for this partisan hack. The next time he is up for election I will correct this mistake. In the meantime check out this message I received.

On Tuesday, the Senate health committee voted 12-11 in favor of a two-page amendment courtesy of Republican Tom Coburn that would require all Members and their staffs to enroll in any new government-run health plan. It took me less than a minute to sign up to require our congressmen and senators to drink at the same trough! Three cheers for Congressman John Fleming of Louisiana !
Congressman John Fleming ( Louisiana physician) has proposed an amendment that would require congressmen and senators to take the same health care plan they force on us (under proposed legislation they are curiously exempt).
Congressman Fleming is encouraging people to go on his Website and sign his petition (very simple - just first, last and email). I have immediately done just that at: http://fleming.house.gov/index.html . Please urge as many people as you can to do the same!
If Congress forces this on the American people, the Congressmen should have to accept the same level of health care for themselves and their families.

Affordable. Well Neptune, I currently have affordable health care. Why don't you? What is preventing you from getting affordable health care insurance? How much are you willing to pay for your health? $500 a year... $1000 a year? How about $3800 a year? How about $5000 a year? What is your life worth to you?
Still can't afford health care coverage? As Obama says "Yes we can.... Yes we can..." There is catastrophic coverage available... this will cover the large medical expenses if you need surgery or hospital care. I know it is much cheaper than an full-blown insurance plan. If you still can't afford insurance, then maybe it is time to look at earning more income. Can't get hired? There is a solution for that.... get more education. Can't afford college? There are grants, loans, scholarships. Can't handle college? Then there are apprentice positions available. Can't do that? Well, then you are not participating to the overall well being of the United States and maybe you don't deserve everything handed to you, as you haven't earned it.
Of course I am just talking to the wall, because we all know you want everyone else to pay your way in life.
As for the idiot in the video.... nothing to say, except that he is part of the problem, just like most of the people in congress.... they are all liars.

Go look at the thread regarding legalizing marijuana. You may get an idea why some people can't afford health care insurance and/or why they have no money. Their financial priorities are elsewhere.

HUH? Have YOU been partaking of the herb? I fail to see the relevance of your comment. BTW, I noticed that a carton of Marlboros is nearly $50.00 these days. Thats a good way to spend your money, isn't it? Good for your health, too, I'll bet.

I don't see what a carton of cigs has to do with this discussion... if you can afford them, then why not use a LEGAL product. If you make the money, you should be able to spend it on things you enjoy.
Now, if you can't afford health care then you should give up those items you don't need or get a decent paying job.

The guy needs campaign money for his re-election bid, so this was an easy way to do it. Kooks like Neptune and other far left-wing doners will start forking over the dough. Grayson isn't in a safe seat, and he knows it.
I suspect he will loose in 2010 anyways. It just makes me smile when leftists loose their money on hopeless causes.

I know you don't and that is a very big part of the problem in this nation. People who want (covet) what the successful already have, also want every vice and big boy toy imaginable, then cry "We didn't get the breaks in life--we can't afford the neccessities--we don't get paid a living wage".
Because, I spurned most of those vices and extravagances over most of my lifetime, I can afford healthcare insurance, and a carton of cigs. And, I will compare my health historyagainst anyone---anytime.
I can also afford the latest and greatest computer equipment, satellite internet and 300 channel tv, and new farm tractors, equipment, and afford to pay someone else to build my fences, a fleet of Fieros, any vice I wish, and a whole host of other extavagances, --but, I chose NOT to throw money at those things because I don't NEED them.

And affordable health care for American citizens is an idea that the meanies just can't kill.
What kind of alternate reality would a person have to be living in to believe that the democrat plan would accomplish this? It really is staggering.
What reality do we live in when someone says something that is completely untrue and goes far beyond disagreement in principle and execution of plan, and goes into character assassination, and people admire his "balls"?
That is really amazing.
Regarding the guy himself, he quotes the Harvard "study". Just because it comes out of Harvard doesn't mean it is well done. I read the "study". It is shameful that it can even be called that. It is gross assumption, speculation, and unscientific projection on a massive scale.
Yet in the article you get glimpses of the reality:
"Uninsurance was associated with younger age, minority race/ethnicity, unemployment, smoking, exercise (less than 100 METs per month), self-rated health, and lower levels of education and income (P<.001 for all comparisons). Regular alcohol use and physicianrated health were also associated with higher rates of uninsurance".
Ohhhhh. So uninsured people tend to share all those characteristics, and yet THOSE aren't the causes for their higher mortality rates. It is the lack of INSURANCE. Ohhhh. Well. It is all so clear to me now.
So here is a dose of REALITY. The Harvard study is bogus AND INTENTIONALLY DECEPTIVE.
44789 deaths per year. REALLY??? Are you sure it isn't 44,788? Or 44790? No. It is 44789. Well what is the big deal with that? By using a PRECISE number per year for a wild projection, it gives the study an implication of PRECISION.
There IS no precision in this "study". It could be 10,000. It could be 1,000. It could be 20,000. But no. It is 44,789.
This is exactly the kind of psuedo-science garbage that is put out there, and people SUCKER for it because the garbage is from Harvard.
What is even MORE shameful is that those same despicable Harvard study authors KNOW that it is the associations that go with uninsurance that are responsible for the increased death rate and not the lack of insurance itself.
Goodness. I am quite sure HE knows his numbers are garbage, too. But when you have that much "balls", you certainly aren't going to let a little thing like fact and truth get in the way.
Because....you've got "balls".

Neptune is just a liberal at heart and his lifestyle conflicts with other priorities and he is upset with it. I am not rich, but I have my priorities straight.

That is the Republican health care proposal. No wonder Dumbocratic representatives are so crooked. Their constituents applaud it.

Legal = right? I think not, tobacco is one of the biggest drains on healthcare in the US.
