Ya know, while I am a Wings fan, a transplaneted Wisconsinite... I have to hand it to the Pens, there passing was much more on key, they were attacking the net, screening, and there was just about always someone there for rebounds..... Detroit, the last 3 games, though winning the first of the last three, was doing basically the opposite, especially tonite's game! They would be one side of the ice and just try and force it through the whole game just about, never looking for the winger on the other side.....
While the Wings wanted it too, they just ran outa time basically.... Why does it take the fact that Crosby gets takin out of the second to form any kind of a fury to win..... And that was still very late into the second period........
When someone was predicting a 3-2 win for the Wings in game 6, for a few minutes after scoring their only goal tonite, I just was all ears...... YES, an overtime game in the series...... Jus maybe they'll take down the Pens...... The Pens may have won tonite and taken the cup, Detroit has still, I believe won more Cups then them so ........

Yes, it is truely sad that the Red Wings lost. But, I have to hand it to the Penguins. More hustle out of them in game 7. Just the way it is sometimes. Detroit will always be Hockeytown. No reason to hang their heads low. Other than the dreadfuly high unemployment level.
The Pens played a very good game tonight. No regrets here. Bummed out, but hey, this is the Stanley Cup Finals. A team can not win it every year. What more can a hockey fan ask for? one goal game (2 - 1) in the 7th game of the finals. You could not write this kind of stuff.
Congrats Pitt.

Great game. Congratulations to the Pittsburgh Penguins... 2009 Stanley Cup champions!
After a series like that, it'll be tough to watch the Canucks and whoever play next season.
And Detroit fans, I'm not trying to rub it in, but I felt this way earlier and I obviously still feel this way now...
Detroit has a great team, but I think they lacked a little grit the last couple of games.
You said that before, however this same team you're busting won the cup last year, and lost it this year by a goal. No excuses, but how can you honestly say they have too many Europeans when they did better than 28 other teams this year, and won it all last year? c'mon man. That is just hogwash. The Pens won. Congrats to them, but to say the Wings are soft, whatever.

"busting" ?
I've said all along what a great team the Red Wings are. Geez, re-read my posts in this thread. If anything, I might be guilty of "busting" the Canucks.
With one or two grittier Canadian (or American) players, I feel the Red Wings could've disposed of the Penguins and won it all again this year.
You don't have to agree, but I'm hardly slagging your team.

I thought Malkin was an excellent choice. The only other player IMO would have been Osgood. They usually do not award the Conn Smyth to a player from the losing team, but it has happened. Osgood was worthy, but Malkin was the right choice.

Congrats to the Pens. In the end it was a one shot / goal Stanely cup. As a long time hockey fan, I have never seen such a huge change in rules / officiating in the final round from the first three rounds / regular season.

Zetterberg would have been a decent pick as well, I feel that he was the best "player" on the ice for the whole series but his team was not there to support him at all. *cough* Stuart
