What are the maxi-pad flappy thingies over the windows made of and how are they bonded to the door? I ask because what happens when you roll down the windows?

The maxi pad things are plugged into the door skin and screwed in place. They do not touch the window -- although the windows skim them barely when they are going up or down. They are made of fiberglass and foam along with a vinyl strip and about 12 screws if I remember correctly. They are solid.
Ooooh, ok. That makes sense. I guess you could roll the windows down while driving to at least the top of the flaps without worrying about the wind catching them.

that's actually where they skim... so I prefer the windows to be either up beyond there or almost all the way down to all the way down so there's only limited stress on that spot during the rolling up/down process rather than leaving that stress there while you're driving...

haha yeah... it's always weird to use your own name with somebody else... but i don't need a car stereo for the soundracer purpose... the amp is all that's necessary... I do already have a car stereo in front, but I will be upgrading it to something with a touchscreen when I start working on the interior
or are you thinking about doing an external soundracer, too?? that'd be cool if you are... I'm available for free consultation in the process for sure.

oh and the wind totally doesn't affect them... they are SOLID... they slant in and are heavy duty... so they aren't moving or flapping or anything at all.

I was thinking instead of the boombox use the second car stereo with the 3.5 plug for the soundracer volume control.

oh totally... that's what I was initially planning on doing... but with the prospect of skipping the car stereo and using in inline volume control, I decided to opt for that route... and I had an inverter laying around... so I just went with the boom box... Of course... I'd have to figure out how to wire that car stereo into the power supply...

Nooooo!!!! If you connect them that way, you will burn up your amp!! In series, you are increasing the resistance with each speaker. Connect them in parallel - twist all the positives together and all the negatives together on the right channel speakers, and connect the pos bundle to right pos, and neg to right neg. Do the same with the left, but connect to left channel.

Yah I do not know much but I would think you would do it the same as the other stereo tap into a full time power and a part time power. I'm not sure if it would be too much pull on the battery but would think less than the converter. Don't get me wrong I think the idea is great being able to listen to music while still having the sound of the V12 just thinking of taking up less space and maybe less draw off the battery?

Shoot! thanks for the correction fieroboom here is the correct diagram
why the he11 would I try to convince a buyer that my car has a V12 engine? That thought would never even occur to me. The goal behind this car is to promote the soundracer v12 external vehicle sound enhancement (pro bono) as I am the first in the world to do this. I guarantee it will catch on with more and more electric cars and hybrids on the road. Just got invited to a Halloween Party... now I gotta go get a stormtrooper outfit...

Yah here is a video of another soundracer V8 and it is really hard not to be smiling and laughing when in a car that has that sound going on I have a permanent grin when I have mine on to.
Do you get lots of blue/white smoke and an oil slick when you blow a speaker?
haha funny... there's a new revolution coming... 4 cylinders, hybrids, electric cars that actually sound bad ass... there will be people out there that copy me but do it bigger and better... innovation... while helping preserve the environment. good gas mileage = good. noise pollution is not as bad as air pollution. This is the way of the future. setting land speed records on your local streets, getting speeding tickets, polluting extra unnecessarily, and getting 10 mpg = not good

The notch from the above thread to compare a more subtle version... before after
I had toyed with this idea... a local was thinking about producing parts to make this happen if he could generate the interest... basically new fiberglass door skins and a glass add on for the rear. The photoshops just never sold me on the notch version. Plus, I have not completely commited to taking the car to that point of irreversably (if that is even a word...LOL) The whole INDY thing stops me everytime. Now if I could afford it I would get a fastback and make it look like Car-lo's fiero... the belt line raising mixed with the chop is stunning
Also watch the added parts at speed... When I think of parts just attached at the bottom with to top anchor point I think of when the 3rd gen firebird was being raced for speed records. They had to tape the windows shut. The air would actually pull the window itself outward. (frameless top on the door) Wind and pressure can do strange things you might not expect. You may eventually have to deal with stress cracks at the bonding point in your doors. Especially since your add-ons are as tall as they are. Granted you will never achieve the speed the firebird was at, but just a thought.
Had to throw something out there to a potential fellow stormtrooper... LOL! Though mine is subtle, just the color and possible emblems, not going industrial looking with mine... ------------------ 1984 Indy Fiero SE Pace Car Replica #770 "SE" Stormtrooper Edition Rescued, resuscitated and reversibly modified!
