This is childish though. I was actually hoping you had documentation, and then I could believe you were making that much power, but as usual I am forced to take you at your word, and that is something I'm afraid I can't do. Good luck with your build. I'm sure a 282 will do just fine behind your DOHC, it does well behind documented 300whp documented cars.

Yeah, it looks worse than went it went in. However, I replaced the decklid, fenders, bumper, inner fenders, headlights, headlight motors, and the entire front suspension has been rebuilt, including the brakes (Sunbird GT). I also cleaned and painted all the sheet metal under the front clip.

Next section will be the engine compartment.

Quick update. The injectors are on their way back from DW after a clean, balance and flow test (they were clogged really bad from setting). Once I get the engine buttoned back up and verify it runs ok, I plan on dropping the cradle and getting started on the engine bay. (maybe, read below)

Now that its getting really warm here, riding season is coming to a close. Either I ride early in the AM (sunrise) or on the rare sub 90deg day. So time to tinker on the Fiero. I totally revamped my garage but its nearly impossible to do anything. All the bikes, atv's etc have got to go. So time to build a bike shed! Ok, after that, I'll get back on the Fiero.. I promise! lol No really, I have to get this car driveable b4 Dean finishes my 88GT build. Its not like the 88 will set outside!

The car is drivable. Clutch cant handle a launch but holds just fine when rolling. So I guess I am gonna go ahead and pull the drivetrain. Clean and paint etc while its out.

So... I guess I should post an update on Garths car. I received a box full of parts on Friday. Even though its my car and now in Florida, I believe Garth wants it back. I think all the talk about my 88 got him excited about the car again. When we went to the LeMons race with Jesse and his badass LQ1 swapped 87 race car, I KNEW Garth would be on the hook again! I cant say that I was surprised when a box from MegaSquirt arrived. Garth ordered the harness, WBO2, ING-6, and MS3 w/ the daughter board. LOL he spent about $1200 on a car he doesn't own! Unfortunately, MS sent a MS1 EMS so I have to RMA that tomorrow. No biggie, I have a lot to do anyway. I am going to pull the cradle tomorrow. I have to set my gantry back up first though.

Plan:
Drop cradle & inspect the drivetrain
Clean & paint everything
Send the KONI's off to be rebuilt
Redo the exhaust (its too loud and split at the Y-pipe)
Source another front manifold to eliminate the shared collector.
Tune up & change the WP while its out.
DOHC top swap (I have all the parts, but need all the intake manifold bolts (the long ones, apparently they are different)
Move the coil pack from the stock location to where the battery is located
Move the battery up front and replace it with my own mini-battery kit
Lay out the harness and prepare the original ECU location for the MS3.
Remove the N20 bits as the car will be forced induction.

Here goes! If there is any interest, I'll try to keep this updated as I go. Anything goes wrong its on me, I don't have to worry about a shop pulling some hocus pocus BS on this one.

Not much to report... bunch of cleaning and tinkering. All the rubber lines and such were practically perished. The thing I cant get over is how rust free this car is...WOW. There wasnt a lick of rust at the battery tray.. none, nadda!

Tomorrow I need to get the engine off the cradle and remove the clutch. Zooming right along.. no 6 month build here!

The heart of the beast. Hasnt been opened up till today. I will be adding a new water pump and giving it a complete tune up & service.

I tried some graphite paint.. I dont like it though. I think I am going to try some blue hammer finish paint.

I hate how metallic paint gets blotchy

I have one that I modded years ago. I dug it out of my spare sockets. Even that one is too thick! I guess I can hit it with the grinding wheel again or put a ball grinder on my dremel and go to town on the flywheel. I really dont want to ruin a $500 flywheel though.

Thanks for the advice.

My son, Chase (6) helped with Garths car today. If you see pics with the axles and they are covered in paint runs etc... just be proud, like me, that he helped! He scuffed them up with scotchbrite before he hit them with the paint.

Not much to report. Just doing some wiring for the MS3 and running the vac lines. I also cut the heat shield off the stock crossover pipe and used some DEI Titanium heat wrap. BTW the genuine DEI wrap is 20 times nicer than the ebay "titanium wrap".

Tomorrow i need to mount the battery relocation kit (Norms) and route the wires. I have an AWESOME mod for that. The wires will be almost completely hidden... its gonna be SWEET!

BV,
I was looking at this today and noticed your ashtray doors. A tip I used: clean them real quick with some soapy water to remove any type of finger and hand oils then saturate them 4 or 5 days in a row with Armor All or similar treatment. They will come up looking brand new! Love the interior especially with TXGOODs set in it (not sure if this is the white or red car).

I haven't really touched the car in the last few days. I cut out the spare tire area to mount the battery relocation and ran the positive cable under the car. It is routed rather uniquely and will be nearly invisible. Pretty clever idea to reuse a redundant part if you ask me! Garth is coming to visit for a few days next month. We have decided to postpone any further wiring work. I just need to get the cradle installed before then.

That was the easiest drivetrain installation into a Fiero I have ever done. It literally dropped right into place. It took me and Tyler about 90 minutes to get it like this!

Sunbird GT brakes (no brackets, no cutting)

Lots of views on this thread. I'll keep updating as I go. Things will slow down until Garth arrives early next month. Garth is going to, somehow, find three days to come visit from Virginia (Yorktown) to assist with the wiring. Something about him "not trusting my color vision"....LOL

Few random pics:

Battery relocation (plastidipped)

Tyler lending a much needed hand (no really, he is much smaller than me so this is one of the rare above car pics!)

Better pic of the wrinkle black cam covers. I think they came out nice!

I swear, getting that stupid (and rather poor quality) battery box in was harder than putting the drivetrain back in the car. Holy *%+)*&% %(*&%%!!!!!
