The meetings, I try to make in the middle of the month just to be easier on members paying bills at the 1st or last of the month , so they have plenty of cash for the cruises
Just let us know and we will welcome ya to the Texas heat ( yes still hot then...)

We wanted our first outing/cruise to be special, so Heidi and I have been hard at work to find something that both the guys and gals will enjoy in this record Texas heat! We will be taking a scenic route through the Hill Country to the Longhorn Caverns (http://www.longhorncaverns.com/). On the way, we will stop for lunch at Las Rosas Mexican/American Restaurant in Bertram. After lunch, the cruise will continue onward for the 1.5hr tour in the 68 degree Caverns. After the tour, there is no agenda, but there are other things to do at the Caverns if you wish or you can head back to Austin. Maps and alternate directions will be provided.
The cruise will start at Target (10107 Research Blvd, Austin, TX at corner of 183 access and Great Hills Trail) at 9:00am. From 9:00-10:00am is the Bat BS time where we can visit the Starbucks in Target, pass out the route info, and of course catch up on all things Fiero! We will leave promptly at 10:00am. Be there or be square! We plan to be back in North Austin no later than 4:30-5:00pm.
I'm hesitant to post my cell number for the purpose of late or lost persons. I think most of us have at least one person's contact info. If not, PM me or maybe I can post an electronic copy of the directions. But Heidi and I will have hard copies of the directions ready to pass out at the Target so no need to print your own (unless you just want to). This also means that we will need a head count so please RSVP asap! Thank you and we are SOOOO excited!! The cruise promises twisty windy roads and the caverns promise something cool to do in the heat of the afternoon.
AAFO met today and we would like to attend / support our friends and FIERO family in the Austin area. We are talking caravan up I-35 N and makeing it happen!!!!!!! Do you need a head count and how soon? Why is it more fun when the ladies plan? We had a lot of interest in the event.

Awesome! the more the merrier! if we have 20+ people, then we need to know one week ahead of time to make a reservation and possibly get group rates. that's one reason we need a head count. the other reason is to know how many copies of the directions/map to make.
and the ladies run attract attention because we are just good like that!
Yes bring the ladies! I am sure the roads used, are smooth for them j/k Miss Lupe wanted to go so you know that is a big deal right there!! AND NO A/C! heh heh
I love the fact that our brothers from the south want to join our little run! Don't we have some group in the North?? Oh well.... This is how I would like ALL of our "meetings" to be held, with as many friends as possable! The goal is to have like a mini Round-Up / Srping Fling/ Ruckus at each of the meetings. (Meetings are every other month) The draw back or plus side of this is, no route shirts (at the moment) to make this a free run except for your gas and lodging if needed! Yes bring the ladies! As co-planner, I can confirm that the roads are pretty smooth and we stop for lunch after 1hr 15min to give our bums a rest. There is only one cattle guard that is bumpy and I have noted it in the directions. But, boys, don't worry. There are fun twisty roads too. We tried to find a good mix for two reasons: 1) to encourage significant others or friends that are girls to come and 2) to keep the cruise around 2 hrs since we need time for lunch and the Caverns tour. The first leg of the trip is simply trying to get out of Austin so it's the highway and a lil boring. After we leave the city, it opens up and gets hilly & twisty making that first leg of the trip totally worth it. We also made sure there are gas stations along the route although gas prices seem to be best in North Austin so I recommend a fill up before hand (it was 5-11 cents more along the route).
There was a mention of group rates at the Caverns (see http://www.longhorncaverns.com for pricing) but we need to call and make reservations ONE week in advance. So we need to know yay or nay by THIS FRIDAY August 5th. It's my bday weekend so I'd rather get all the business out of the way as early as possible. Thanks and I can't wait!!!
Also, Heidi took some pics of the cruise. I'll get them posted later today.

Looks fun Becca! Good job thus far... maybe, hopefully, possibly, i may, maybe can make it. Me and GG that is... I think Austin could use some throttle blip n! And LTB could use some representin!!! :-)
well we can't blame ya for wish for cooler weather and who knows we might have a cold front and the highs only be in the upper 90s. Regardless from 2-3:30 we should be underground in a 68 degree cave.

The AAFO will be there and I will get you a headcount as soon as I can. I know I will be there with Sharon or Grandson, count me in for 2 spots. See you at the TARGET!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
@fieroseblack: AWESOME!!! I can't wait! I gotta say I was a bit nervous this being my first time having a hand in planning a cruise/outing, but I'm starting to feel better about it lol.
@revin: i know!! Ugh, either gotta face the heat (not gonna happen with this sunburn) or the mosquitoes to go finish trying to get those odd brown spots off the dash. I have no clue what woulda caused them, but thanks to Heidi's suggestion, the Magic Eraser is simply magical! lol Although it still takes A LOT of scrubbing.
eww, yeah that is too dusty for our group. Just kidding Nice looking engine! can't wait to see that run!
We would love to have ya join us on the 13th. We don't mind if you have a running Fiero or not. We have a member just like you, mid way through a swap yet he won't be bringing it this time.
So at least meet up with us at Target and introduce yourself and get to know us! You may even get to bum a ride with someone on the cruise.
It's a mostly stock 2.8 just had it rebuilt and put on the Trueleo intake and headers I have had for almost 3 years. Got it back in the cradle last Thursday if I get the time to finish all the wiring and detail stuff this week I should have it alive by the 15th (that is my deadline but I can push it if I haft to) There was so much more I wanted to do to it first but I ran out of time and $$ for now. The suspension will just haft to wait as this will soon be my daily driver.
I just got done modelling the coil mount to slightly relocate it to make room for the headers

Liberty Hill. I actually have your old 2.5" exhaust you gave it to me a couple of years ago when I started this. I won't be using it yet but I hope to have a full 2.5 exhaust and some suspension work done in the next 2 years I would like to enter it into the Big Bend Open Road Race.
I work on it during slow times at work so progress is a bit slow. I may be up here working on it some point this weekend tho if I don't get it in the bay by Friday if you can make it I may take you up on that offer for help

Don, there are a couple of Best Westerns in Austin but more central. There is a brand new Motel 6 right next to where I work and although I know some Motel 6`s are kinda seedy this one, my building and the Holiday Inn Express are all kind of isolated in Cedar Park in a good area. Plus, leaving the Longhorn Caverns you would take FM1431 out of Marble Falls and it`s a scenic drive to Cedar Park with the motel right on the same road. Mike
Thanks Mike--we'll check it out. We're so looking forward to getting away after spending the last 3 weeks getting ready for last week's visit from my 3 kids, their wives, and 5 grandkids. They wore us out.
This is a shameless plug, but if any of out out-of-towners or even local folks want to hear some good classic rock my band Rockhouse is playing the weekend of the meeting in this thread Friday night down South at The Warehouse Saloon and Saturday night up in Round Rock at Junior`s Grille and Icehouse. Mike
Well, we don`t start playing until 10PM so it`s sort of an after/after the fact. I will be heading back through Marble Falls down 1431 because I live in Jonestown, which is a straight shot. Mike
