I as at the 25th and will be at the 30th no matter what! If I can I might bring the gushotrod's tube chassis Fiero, even if it is a work in progress. Have an 88GT that I will be bringing up for sure. If I can get time to get the tube chassis running by then even with no body I think I'll have to load them both on a trailer here in KC and haul them up.

I have this bookmarked, and will assist any that I can, but that will be limited as I go the sandbox for a year next spring. I hope that I am home in time to attend the event. Hopefully I can make it a family affair and have my Indy and the wife's Anti Indy as well ready for the show.

I am pumped already! My favorite show at my favorite place! Holy ground people.... Holy ground.
THANK YOU FRED!
does this mean we get to see that car of yours perform on the track? If so I need to buy a couple of cameras to have you strap in there for some on track footage...
I for one would LOVE to see your car take a hot lap.

Tim... I hate to say it, but they will never let me hot lap the car there. Parade lap sure, but never with any speed. Now maybe with John Callies in the car..... Hummm.
BTW.... I do have a camera mount inside the center of the car that you are welcome to mount your camera to.

One problem has been when cars are allowed on the tracks for parade laps, some idiot will try to become Mario Andretti and the track staff don't appreciate those "efforts". They end up shutting down the future events of parade laps. We used to do laps on the Daytona track, but that is no longer allowed. I have done laps on the Michigan Speedway, Daytona, Watkins Glenn and paid to run on Gateway at a FOCOA event years ago. The 1996 FOCOA event at Indy, the parade lap event was canceled for track work so I missed that opportunity.

A STRICT SPEED LIMIT is enforced at the 500 track these days and that is 55 mph. I have taken parade laps at the track several times. I took the Camaro on a parade lap last year and it was dissapointing as some wise ass thought that it would be a good thing to propose at the start finish line (she said yes) and that brought everyone on the track to a dead stop as there is no passing allowed and city police are utilized at various locations around the track along with IRP personel to monintor behavior. That event was sponsored by the local Chevrolet dealers and included Corvette and Camaro owners, both old and new. Included admission to the 500 museum as well. Hopefully there will be some consideration to utilize other tracks in Indy for the 30th event. Oriley is very close as mentioned here already and should be used!! I am not aware if they allow hot laps on the road course or not but that would be a blast. I watched the group at the 25th at the roadcourse in Detroit and that was very cool, wish I had a car that was suitable there but can only drive one. Closer to home I can take several up for that.
Certainly willing to bring my crew down to shoot video once again. This time I'll have several "sport cams" to place in cars if drivers will let me. Does anyone know if there will be a local race track that will allow more spirited driving like we had at Waterford Hills at the 25th? I can offer on DVD and BluRay this time around as we have upgraded to all HD gear.
Hey Fred, Any more information on this event? I and several others from the Bluegrass State plan on attending. Hoperfully, we'll bring quite a few cars with us.

Honestly, what is the point of a 55mph 'parade lap' Great if the grandstands are packed and you're about to start the 500, but... honestly...
For me it would be the fact that I was setting in my race car on the track just like it was real. Something about the rumble of 645 hp and tube chassis on the 500 track get be going. IF I am lucky, I might be able to talk John Callies in to riding with me. I am not sure if he would want to drive or not. It is pretty physical even at slow speeds.
Then again, the 500 has been a part of my family since 1951....
.... Oh yea. Count me IN.

Summer 2013 is definitely the target. The details have not been nailed down yet. Yes, we would love to have it at Indianapolis Motor Speedway but the new management in place there is turning out to be a bit of a nightmare to deal with. They don't even want to talk until the date is 12-18 months out if you are not wanting to hold a race, and setting up a show like this takes time, not having a solid location until only a year in advance would be pushing it to say the least. There is a plan B for a different location if things don't go our way at IMS but we are playing wait and see at the moment. We have some of the most 'connected' folks in the Fiero community working on this.
The Midwest Fiero Clubs are organizing the event and we are hard at work trying to get the details ironed out. I will do my best to keep Pennock's informed on 30th Anniversary show information as it develops!

<GASP>!!!!
Oh.. You're from England.. Never mind, you wouldn't understand
The Indianapolis Motor Speedway is holy ground. Home to the greatest spectacle in racing.. When you stand at the bricks.. on the asphalt.. you can literally FEEL the history of the races that have been run there.. the sights.. the sounds.. even the smell is unique and onto it's own..
In short.. IMS... There's no other place like it on earth.

The Central Indiana Fiero Owners offer not only to assist, but offer to host/co-host the event by adding a cruise, meet/greet/eat, and/or other smaller events in/around Indy for those attending. I spoke with Joe Welch, and he pushed for the idea since we're local to the show area. PM me, and let me know how we can be of help.
