Mike, by any chance, did you happen to win a lottery recently? Nah, just kidding. Good on you for obtaining all those molds! But that peaks my curiosity, since I read somewhere where after the court ruling against Corporate Concepts, their molds had to be destroyed by running over them with bulldozers. Hmmm...perhaps they had some molds stashed away someplace.

LMK if or when you decide to sell any of those extra mirrors or tail light lenses.

Thanks,
Tom

I agree. If you own mera moulds then they were from the pontiac factory i dont think they will part with that stuff including the stock moulds for any model.

There were 2 sets of original Mera body panel molds. Both sets were destroyed by employees of Corporate Concepts in the presence of attorneys representing Ferrari sometime in late 1988 or early 1989. You have molds that were made from a Mera or a copy of a Mera.

Pontiac didn't make the Mera.... a different company made them, converted the cars and sold them through Pontiac dealers.

I highly suspect that if you try to start selling Mera parts from the molds you will have Ferr@ri knocking on your door. I can see that you might get away with saying you are only selling parts to keep existing Meras on the road but any hint of 'new' cars I suspect would bring trouble.

I recall someone did a one off F40 (I think) copy some time ago, just for personal use and The guys from Maranello came knocking with threats of legal recourse if he tried to make more than just the one.

On the bright side, it's good to see there's a change to keep original Meras on the road and looking good now. I always loved the 308 (hence my user name). Might even be able to own a Mera one day if I smile nicely at the wife!

[QUOTE]Originally posted by mera7:

hello other mera freaks...lol let me say that i will NOT sell 308 kits. I WILL ONLY SELL MERA PARTS FOR REPAIR PURPOSES. i will sell my upgrade kits to the whole fiero community as follows; i have built 84-87 tubular adjustable a arms and will be building a set for the 88 after i get back from sema. then i will make jigs and sell the arms to the whole fiero community. as well as my f430 4 piston brembo calipers conversion/cross drilled 12" vette rotors conversion will be available to the whole fiero community as well. i will also sell my f355 19" wheel and tire conversion to fit over the f430 calipers and vette rotors to the whole fiero community. i will also sell my penske kelly moss racing dual adjustable shocks with piggy back resevoirs, also will be offered to the entire fiero community. BUT AGAIN I WILL NOT SELL WHOLE 308 KITS OR MERA KITS, I WILL ONLY SELL REPAIR PARTS. my intentions are as follows; i bought the molds basically to repair my wrecked mera. but will also supply other wrecked meras or 308s for parts. i dont want mera kits so to speak out there because since i am a mera owner i dont want my mera devalued by a bunch of copies running around. hope everyone understands. anyhow these are my intentions.

ps my credentials are; ase master certified porsche technician, porsche trained. i have a porsche repair and porsche custom race car facility where we build high end porsche specialty cars. i recently in the last yr found out about meras. i have always like the fiero as my cousin had a 88 back when they were new. so when i saw the mera i was hooked. since then i was on a quest to find a wrecked mera to build my dream car so to speak... and now here we are.

EDIT:-why did it not seperate my post from his quote.....bloody machines......
....and with christmas comming and all..............(humming)...making a list and checkin' it twice I hope the MERA replacement parts come out nice.......(you all know the rest). thanks for your true dilligence in the matter of the replacement parts, seems not too long ago there was some fret about replacement Mera stuff in case of horrible accident.... wait that was me and my recouring 3800 sc swap dream...anyway I am down for a replacement parts stock pile. already need Black window louvers quarters..... Later

the quarter sail panels,

The problem with the quarter panel molds. The original quarter panels for the Mera's were injection molded in a 2 piece steel die. I do not know what type of material they were made from. I tried to buy these molds but by then they had been scrapped. The problem I have seen is the material they were made from seemed to shrink and warp after they were removed from this mold. This problem continues when someone takes these panels and makes a mold to make fiberglass replicas. Then the fiberglass mold shrinks some whan making the mold and each fiberglass piece made from this mold shrinks some while it cures. What someone really needs to do is make a pair and do a serious amount of reworking to make them fit very well and then make a new mold. I doubt that anyone will ever do that. Wish I could have gotten the original steel molds. One could have made very high quality fiberglass quarter panels using the original steel dies.

Mera (Ford Escort) reverse lenses: Interesting that I bought a set of Ford Escort station wagon reverse lenses off ebay and when I received them the other day the clear lenses had seperated fron the housings. I'm sure this is from old age. This makes it especially easy to repaint the housings and reglue the lens back on the housing. I can see why the outer edges were ground before they installed them on the Mera's. The outer edges are rough. Corporate Concepts ground the outside of the reverse lens to make them smooth.

Years ago I sanded the sides of my reverse lenses smoother and painted the sides black. Used standard can spray paint. Wrong. The solvents attacked the plastic and ruined my lenses. I knew a Mera owner who had removed his reverse lenses so I bought his and used plastic model paint the next time. I did sand/polish out the Ford emblems in my reverse lenses a few days after I bought my Mera. Had to go. Sorry.

Legal issues. Couldn't you just advertise in just selling parts only and not a full complete kit. That way if someone wants a build the whole car they have to buy it in multiple orders. Plus you would make more money in sales that way. Not everyone has a lump sum of money sitting around for a complete body kit. There has to be a loop hole somewhere.
