So you moved to Joplin from Granby? The rest of this week is shot (gotta find parts and then run to KC to fix my brother's truck that was hit by a drunk) but maybe the later part of next week I could help some. Maybe Thursday? Dunno...
If you've just got to spot putty and finish sand, it shouldn't take too long. Wet sand with 400 and then 600 and it should be ready for paint. Shoot the paint, and start throwing body panels back on and you're done.
Brad, this may be the first Fiero meet you go to with a Fiero.... awsome.
dustin
Crap, you may be right: Dustin( . Mike and I are going through pictures of past meets. I think I went to one in my red Fiero that I got for free and drove for years with no problems. And Mike thinks I went to one in the black Fiero I purchased and had tons of problems with .
Either way, this time I will bring Jezebel up, not the 4.9, since I still have a few bugs to work out on the 4.9. Besides I think it'll be sweet to drive a home wrecker to get a homewrecker ( Moe's big burrito).
Brad
Edit to add: Mike, the one you posted I believe I rode with 30+ in his sweet 3800 NA, hand sewn seats, and other really neat stuff he did that only a true engineer would have the patience to do. Isn't that the meet where we drove to Dustins after the park, or am i really confused? My timeline is really screwed up since my accident .

Hey, my grandmother used to live near Granby. Stayed with her a week every summer when I was a kid.
Any of you guys my age (50's) ever know a Brenda Wright in Joplin? We had a few dates back in 1975. Don't have a clue if she's still around there however.

With the paint that I am using 240 is the max grit I have to use. I am using a 2K primer that is medium build Urathane and the paint is a Urathane. NO scratches show. It is great.
Only 240 grit? That seems awfully rough to me but less work is less work
And running cars on the dyno would be fun, but in my case (stock 2.8 w/ granny geared 4t60) it'd be kinda pointless. $50 seems kinda expensive too, but I don't know much about dynos.

Dyno usually runs around $125 if you just show up there on any other day. And thats for an hour. Dont know if I will run mine unless I get my computer fixed. I think I still have a grounding problem.
Ya, 240 grit. And no scratches show. What is painted looks pretty good even close up.

Soooo, you gonna dyno higher than Mike this time. Or is the computer problem gonna be your excuse this time too? .
I couldn't help it LMAO, we all know which one is better Jezebel, and nobody can argue.
I would like to Dyno Jezebel, just to see what she pulls, but I don't think I will bother. I don't think I will go to the Dyno this year either since we are already going to Joplin and Rachel won't be able to stand for that long.

Well, bring some chairs then. I think we should still meet up and then cruise down to the Dyno in Neosho via Gateway drive. I am not sure if I will dyno it or not. I still need a new computer and funds are getting slim. What does everyone else think? Mike are you gonna dyno yours? Or, should it still be the same as last year? Let me know. dustin
Nothings changed on mine at all. My funds are being sunk into the house so car stuff is on the back burner for now. If I went down it would be just to watch.
Dude, why arent you going to the dyno? whats the big deal? there will be food and plenty of people to talk to. Samantha will most likely be going. Garry may even bring his g/f. Up to you, just dont count it completely out. dustin
I won't count it out, just don't count on me coming. I know Rachel pretty well by now, and I know her limitations. I may come out and see if she will meet me, but the more complicated it becomes the less likely she is to go for it.
I really enjoyed the dyno day last year, but I know it's a stretch for Rachel to want to go.

And we all hear the sound of a whip cracking...... lol. Oh well..... At least try. Dont just tuck your tail and run. lol I know that you were begging to hear this from me. So, you got it. dustin

I thought that the whip cracking was whenever Mike talked?
I think we worked out a solution last night, she said she would go (as long as she wasn't in too bad of shape), but would follow in her car so she can have the heated seats, and such.

Crap, Jezebel just went down on me (read however you want), I talked to Dustin on the phone while listening to the engine, and I don't remember exactly what he said, but it was either rod, or Piston going fast.
Sorry Brad, my test took longer than I thought. The last question really got me. I have class from 9 to 10 and from 11 to 12 this morning. You can call any time in between or after. Again, sorry I didnt get back with you last night. Dustin

What do you have after 4?
I'm at work from until then.

You can call me after 12pm today. If you want too. I know that this really sucks. How could I have jinxed you? I do the majority of your work. No appreciation! Anyway, I know that there is not much i can do now. Let me know what is going on with it.....later dustin

dustin
LOL, you jinxed it by saying something about it. just like driving down the road and saying " Man this car hasn't had a problem in forever! It's AWESOME!" Boom, it breaks down.
And I appreciate,[gets on knees] I really appreciate, I really really appreciate everything you have done, and will do for me. If you need me to send a card, or give you a "man hug" I can, you know I'll go to bat for you.
Brad
P.S. In order to show my appreciation for everything you have done I got your Christmas present for you already (got a month or so ago), I can go ahead and give it to ya at the meet if you want, but I am not sure you want to carry a blow-up sheep around all day.
Looks like I'm going to try to get out there tomorrow afternoon to work on another of Brad's cars. Apparently he has 3 near-roadworthy cars.
Jezebel: getting ready throw up a piston/rod A 4.9 car w/ a milkshake for oil... And a 3.4 car w/ slight front end damage that needs a new starter and alternator.
So the plan is to scrounge a starter from a parts car and bolt it onto the 3.4 car and I'm going to buy an '88 alternator from my local NAPA where I get a 10% student discount. Bolt those items on, swap the good tires from Jezebel, and maybe tweak any other damage and it should be good to go.
...which means Brad will have a DD to come to the meet next Saturday
I'll try to remember to grab my camera to take some pictures.
On a side note, I think one of the CV axles on my LeSabre T Type are about to take a crap...hmm...
Not sure if I will go. Pretty unhappy with everything right now. Good luck Brad, sorry I couldnt be there to help. I am installing an new toilet and garbage desposal today. At least its not raining on me. dustin

Well, I just got back in from seeing Brad (twofatguys) and then stopping off in Joplin to visit with my girlfriend for a bit.
We checked over the 3.4 car and with a properly juiced battery the starter would kick on. However, the motor would not fire up, or even try. So on a hunch I tested the fuel rail by pressing the schrader valve. No fuel. Brad swapped out the pump relay, checked the fuse, and checked that the pump was indeed plugged in. No dice.
So I'm fairly certain that the pump is dead and without a solid surface to jack the car up far enough to get the tank out, we were SOL for the day. Brad is going to try to get a hold of a trailer to tow the car partway up on which should give us enough clearance to get at the tank.
The day wasn't a total bust... I got to see lots of (dead) Fieros and pick through some parts. I found a good mirror, door panel, and 88 rear bumper to swap onto my '86 GT that has.... issues. If I can get out to see Brad again before the meet then I'll swap the parts over. I had the bumper on the 88 almost off when it started to pour rain so I called it a day.
I'm going to try to get back there again next week to work on swapping parts on my car and if Brad can get a trailer or a cherry picker or something then we can swap out the tank. Otherwise, we're kinda out of luck on getting the other two cars going (4.9 has a milkshake for oil and the 2.8 has internal engine problems).
The first meet I went to I was Fieroless, but it gave me an opportunity to see how the car's are *supposed* to look when they're together. At that point, I had my motor torn down to the block...
Brad: Let me know when you want to try to work on one of the cars again and I'll try to come over and help. Too bad we got rained/mudded out last time, but if we can just get the car up in the air swapping the pump should be pretty straight-forward.
