EDIT:

WHEN: Saturday November 7, Noonish
WHERE: Moes SW Grill, 32nd and Main, Joplin MO
TO DO: Hang out, check out each others rides, eat, and then go do something fun like bowling or putt putt golf

/Edit

Hey guys! I thought it would be nice to try to set up a meet in Joplin for anyone in the area that wanted to stop by and hang out. I think Saturdays are best for most folks and I figure a months heads-up would be enough time to get off work or whatnot.

So how about if we shoot for a meet the weekend before or after Halloween? Anyone and any car is welcome, but naturally it'd be convenient for those in southwest MO, northeast OK, northwest AR, and southeast KS. I figure we can meet somewhere to eat that has a big parking lot, maybe take some pics, and just hang out. There aren't a lot of interesting roads to "cruise" on and Main street is heavily patrolled by cops on the weekends but maybe we can still do something as a group somewhere around town.

So, thoughts? I'll update this first post after we start getting details together and go from there.

Yeah I'd be up for it. Just need to know when and where. If you want to do it end of October I know a spooktrail you all could stop at.

Well, I was thinking either Nov. 7 or Oct. 24 for a date. I was wanting to avoid Halloween because I figure people are going to want to do their own thing that day (parties, candy to kiddies, etc.). The catch would be the weather but as of now its still fairly pleasant.

We would need to meet somewhere with a semi large parking lot, preferably close to somewhere with food. When SilentAssassin and I met up with BlackRams we met at Red Hot and Blue and that seemed to work out pretty well but I'm open to ideas. We'd need to get an OK from the place of business too, just to be polite and not overrun their parking lot all at once without a heads-up.

Edit: The more I think about, I think Nov. 7 would work out best for me. I've got a sister-in-law thats going to have a kid sometime in the next few weeks so later would be a bit better.

Time to bump this! I know the weather is getting crappy in a hurry but it should still be OK by Nov 7. Other than eating and hanging out, you guys want to do anything else?

I know of a couple members that live in Tulsa! Its about a 2 hour drive which isn't bad, so you guys are welcome to come! Theres a member down in Arkansas (30+MPG, IIRC), you're welcome to come too!

If my car was on the road I'd drive up for a visit. I had 6 Fieros at my house this afternoon. The Red River Ruckus caravan stopped at my house on the way to Baytown for the Ruckus Meet tomorrow. You guys have a great meet. Maybe I can see ya next year.

Well, I guess I will chime in. I know of two better places than the pig stop(Red, Hot and Blue) if you are interested. Same type of food just better. I am in, I just hope that I can get my car back together by then. Mostly painted now. I just ordered more paint.
We will have to see how it goes. I know of a few others that may show. Their fieros are not completed as of yet.
Dustin

Alibi, did you get your car running? Sorry I was unable to help. I didnt even get my car done and had to move. Good thing is I am in Joplin now.

I'm open to suggestions as far as where to eat at, I was just throwing RH&B out as a suggestion as its easy to find and has a good size parking lot.

No biggie if cars aren't perfect, I know mine isn't. I did get it running at the end of August. I ended up pulling the heads and taking them to a machine shop to have the manifold studs cleaned out and retapped. While they were at it I had them do a valve job and deck the heads too. I've got the car running allright now, although I'm still working all the bugs out of it but considering I've only had it for 6-7 months and running for a little over a month I think I'm doing pretty well.

Anyway, if you know of more folks that want to come, then that would be great too

They've both got good food... but I'm not sure if there is enough room for parking, espeically Big R's. I have yet to find a good BBQ place over here by Pitt so I'd like to do BBQ but I'm open to anything.

I'm sorry, Alibi... I'll be in St. Joseph on Nov. 7, I'd love to be there, but I'll be getting a very special honor on that day. It seems I've been deemed worthy to receive the Scottish Rite of Masonry's 33rd Degree!
On the flip side, if the date gets changed to either earlier or later, (prefer later 'cause my yellow '88's getting new paint!) be sure to let me know... I'd love to attend a Fiero gathering in SW Missouri.

It was tongue-in-cheek, I already explained it to ya though . Mike knew I made the post before it was posted .

I never said no girls, I said no Britts. All the other wives/ Girlfriends are welcome, Britt will probably have to work anyway.

Hey Britt!! I told Rachel about you trying to turn the trucks steering wheel, and she said she is going to get a "NO SKINNY CHICKS" sticker for the back window. LMFAO.

Putt Putt golf? Something cheap would be nice (free would be better). Too bad the Spook Trail will be closed.

Putt Putt could be fun. The one down on rangeline between Joplin and Webb City should have plenty of parking and I think its cheap, less than $5 for a game. Cafe Del Rio (I think that is its name) is down there too and they've got a pretty good sized parking lot so that would work for food as well.

I haven't been to SW Moe's, but I'm open to that too. Where exactly is it? I don't really care what kind of food we eat, as long as theres room for everyone to park and look at everyone's cars for a bit (looks like theres going to be 5-10 cars showing up), the food isn't nasty, and the place to eat at has some tables they can put together for us to eat at and hang out.

I haven't heard from Mike recently, but last I heard he was wanting to meet up with us. I don't know about his dad, but if he comes with that would be cool too but if people are busy then thats allright as well, its not like we can't meet up again some other time. Speaking of meeting up again, should we set a rain date of the 14th in case the weather turns out to be crappy on the 7th?

Glow in the dark golf is fun, did it back in high school with some friends but IIRC its kinda expensive compared to the outside putt putt. How about this, if the weather is nice we'll do putt putt outside, if its cold/rainy then we can do it in the mall or do whatever else?

How about this for a rough itinerary:

12-1pm -- meet up at whatever restaurant we end up deciding on. Poke around on everyone's cars for a bit. Ooh and Ahh at their magnificence.
1-2 -- eat, hang out, etc.
2-3 -- Go do something fun/cheap just for the hell of it for a bit (putt putt, bowling, hang out at a park, etc.)

I'm around. Running a lot with work/school/house/etc. Got a few projects dumped on me last second for the spooktrail I've been working on. I'm planning on making time for this. Moe's is on 32nd and Main in the little strip mall. Good food and plenty of parking. My little brother works there LOL

oooh, is it by Vintage Stock? I know where that is! That would work fine by me Moes sound good to everyone else?

So, meet at Moes around noon, hang out, eat, then go do something fun as a group? Sound good?

Mike, is your dad going to be able to run his yellow Fiero with you or is it just going to be you and the SC 3800 car? I'd love to see some more Fiero's in person, especially since I have a better appreciation for them now that I've figured out where everything goes and how they're supposed to look after working on mine.

Dad's car won't be there because its in the shop getting paint and some work. Mine might be sporting a few new panels as well by the time this rolls around if I can find time to get it done.

Ok, thats cool. What panels are you adding? Or is that a secret :P

Mine will look different, even from when you saw it when we met up with Ron. I've got my seat covers on, my luggage rack on, fixing my headlights, and hopefully I'll have my front battery box in by then too. Its just sitting in my room begging to be installed but I'm just waiting for a nice day to do it. I've got a few other odds and ends to do too but I'm shooting to be able to do paint this spring. I need to pull my GT clip to do some fiberglass repair work, replace the front bumper (thinking about going with a Ferrari nose), and installing a hood vent/scoop of some sort before paint though.

If you or anyone else in the area ever needs a hand with something, shoot me a message and maybe I can come over and help wrench for a bit. I've had my car torn down pretty far and done quite a few of the easy popular mods (CS 130 alt swap, power pulleys, Gen 2 headlights, glovebox, dash corners, vibe radio, etc.) and I don't mind helping someone else to do it (lunch would be appreciated though ). Things go so much faster and easier the second time around anyway and I've got the tools to do lots of cool stuff too.
