I have seen a site selling carbon fibre similar to this one but can't find it now. It offered several colors too. Does anyone have it or know a good site for it?

Your dash is hot! I tried going to mimousa.com but there were only links to dealers. Where did you order from?

Hey Craigsfiero ------

I'm glad you like them but I work two jobs and have no time for my own projects. Like right now I'm modifying the headlights to be low profile resembling Fiero kings but with a different fiberglass fronts and with HID ready bulbs instead of angel eyes.

and soon I get back from Mr. Mikes next week are my seat covers!!!!!!

I'm sorry for not having the time.....but I''ll definitely help you with tips and guidelines for making them. The hardest part was getting the clear coat to not have and streaks or bubbles. (CARDBOARD BOX WITH A DROP CLOTH)....I also thinned the polyurethane with Mineral spirits, say 10 to 1 ratio.....I think I did about 15 coats. The color is from minwax but I mixed 2 different colors to make the one that I wanted. I used a rag to apply instead of a brush. That way I can rub in the stain instead of globing it on top. ( circles and then with the grain per application )

Anyway drop me an e-mail if you'd like when you're ready to start.

Thanks, do you have templates to make them with? I have made other things with wood mostly chairs and tables, so staining is no big deal. I just do think I could make those to fit exactly.

No... I don't have the templates. Basically I laid the originals face side down on the bottom of the wood piece and traced. I tried the other way from the topside of the wood to the bottom of the originals but there was a big gap to be accurate.

Home Depot birch ply 1/8" veneer... I was thinking to about the templates. You could trace it to construction paper and ten re-trace it to the wood. Be careful what direction you place it though. One side is lower that the other. The ply has a good side grain and bad. I found the birch tree branch in someone's yard for the shift knob.

josef644:... that wooden looking one is great looking. Big bucks I would guess?

At the Fierostore, one can purchase a 4 pc wooden kit for $350 + shipping.

Bought my 19 pc kit on ebay for $134 which includes shipping.

I suggested to Max to take pics of the sets before he starts installing them, I have no idea when he is going to begin since I don't want to use exceptionally good sets to attach the trim pieces to... and my set off of an 84 (dark grey) is going in my daughters car so her set off an 88 (dot matrix) will hopefully be available to sell since neither of us care for the dot matrix... My son's has the brushed aluminum set, but we will have to use the shift plate since his is a manual, so I don't know if we will have a complete set of those available for sell... Max has a bunch of extra stuff that he hordes... lol.. Plus we will need to use pieces that aren't broken out at the screw holes.

He may get started on them today since he actually has a day off of work, but the driveway is snowed in... shrug... plus he has to troubleshoot my daughters car.. just put a new battery in it, something is dragging the battery down... so we need to get that fixed, his ZR2 needs a serious tune up since it's running barely... lol.. I suggested swapping engines but for some reason he seems to think it doesn't really need that to fix the problem.. laugh.. and my son's car needs an EGR valve.. so we're down 2 cars right now... lol..

I'm still trying to figure out how the map pocket/door pockets piece works... I guess it just attaches over the fabric... which is ok for the door pockets cause there is an opening for the badge, but I don't want to cover up my badge on the map pocket...

Yes, I especially like it for the swirls of grey/black which is similar in color to the 84's trim (dark grey) kit which I have in my 88. (good thing I don't have a gauge cluster...lol) I never did like the 88's dot matrix pattern, dislike it as much as the black/white carpet pattern... lol.. too much like hounds tooth for me.. Not too fond of the light silver trim either.. so I was really out of luck for options.. other than painting the trim and those just look like painted trim... ugh.. (no offense to those of you who paint your trim, if you like it, then that's all that matters!!) I had also thought of using a silk type material to cover the trim pieces but thought that would make it too busy... and a solid color would still look like it had been painted. Oh yeah, and I'm not too crazy about the wood type patterns because they don't seem to blend in well with the dash, they stand out....although I'm sure there are a lot of people out there who do like wood tone....

I also like BD Trims Light Burl Wood, it looks spectacular in a tan fiero interior... but I don't think I'm about to totally change my 88's interior to tan... lol.. (Max is saying thank goodness!! laugh) Although swapping out the dash isn't too far of a stretch since I like his...

I wish... but Max does have a vacation coming up here in a week, so I'm hoping we can get some of that done... He did manage to get my decals on the truck yesterday, still has the running boards & mud flaps to mount... had to order another set of rims cause Summit canceled my order after waiting a month for them to ship... Did get a good deal from JC Whitney, (15% off during live chat) so hoping we get those sent out on the 19th instead of in a month....

He has so much stuff he needs to get done before Fierorama this year... and it's not just on his car, but all 4 of them since we are taking all of them... this might be a real interesting adventure... lol..

Course he's not going to get around to doing stuff like swapping out his engine this year, may not even get around to painting the son's car or putting pearl on his... since he still has to buff out my car, decal it, buff out our daughter's car... and keep them all running... lol.. which sometimes can be a major pita.. daughter's fuel pump went out, after replacing the battery, alternator... then got all that fixed and the ignition module left her stranded on the way home, so had to tow it... Max's gear shift is broken, and he had to modify it for the ZR2, so he can't just pop a factory one on, got a Shift Ball ordered, but it takes up to 6 weeks to manufacture... and we think his needs a fuel pump too cause it won't stay running which was a symptom of my daughters car..

Anyway... I'm hoping to get some of those dash kits installed here soon!!

Absolutely!! Amethyst's kit went into the car today, here are the pics of it. Please excuse the torn shift boot, new one is on the way.

Looks pretty good I think. Oh, and please excuse the seat covers, they are there to protect the mint condition 88 lumbar seats.

Quit dissing my seat covers!! I happen to like them, along with the dragon floor mats, the dragon hanging stuff, and anything else dragon in there... lol.. man, those pics are great, and I've seen the real thing... lol.. cough cough.. my shifters a little short now... guess I'll have to get used to it... but it should be fine, I have small hands... laugh... thanks hon... luv ya!! Now we just got to get Kuro's stuff in her yet... and we'll have an extra set of 88 dot matrix trim pieces in pretty good condition we won't need anymore we can put up in the mall section!! Plus parts of the install kits we won't use.. like the map pocket pieces which we decided were for the vinyl dash and map pockets... (can't say as I've actually seen those in a fiero... )

No trim around the window switches or on the ash tray lids? I like the trim for the dash switches.

He liked the contrast so didn't want the other trim pieces in there... the kit came with them, he just didn't want to use them... unless he changes his mind... lol.. Personally I liked them all, so used all the pieces I could... except for the door tabs, I have painted ones...

That is a really great price! Wow, I may get a set or two. Seriously, one for the GT and one for the Tundra.

I would still like to see some pictures of the different colored carbon fiber kits similar to the one I posted at the top of the page ( about a year ago ).

Unfortunately, the only place I know for carbon fiber(diff. colors too) is at fierostore.com, but it's very pricey.

I am cutting mine from 1/4 birch plywood,,sorry no pics,,but this is not difficult to do ,,tho it is time consuming ..If you checkover a period of a few months ,,you will encounter a piece of ply wood thah appeals to you
for the beginner the 1/4 birch plywood available at Loews is more difficult to work ,,but is sturdier for a first wood working effort.
this type of plywood is very thin so keep sanding to a minimum.
1/8 th plywood sides will look better than 1/4..but with 1/4 you can cut a groove on the bottom .that will hold the console shift cap surround in place
if you can not get the instrument pod sides to pull in ,,you can make the panel V out to make for a better fit
I do not spray a clear coat, this gives a much more HOME MADE look but it is still very nice ..
the oil/alternator instrument panel pod above the A/C radio panel is easiest to do use ,,your best looking piece here.. you can experiment with window shape,, I made the windows just a bit smaller.
as umboundo did you can eliminate ash tray holes ,, you can also cut a cup holder ..or easily drill holes to install a side cup holder..
the easiest panel & fastest upgrade is to use contact paper ,,available in many patterns
