Can you post pictures of you installed Dash Trim Kits, in either your gray interior or tan interior Fiero. Anything goes woodgrain, carbon fiber (colored or not), colored, or something you made. I am just curious of the different choices there are. Please post where you bought the kit if you remember and how much you paid, if you want to. Thanks guys!!!!!! Let the posting begin!!!!!

I'd like to see some too, I have grey interior and I hate the dot matrix, I am thinking about painting a spare set of interior trim black or doing that brush on stainless steel paint. Someone on here was selling carbon fiber, I was considering that too. Lets see some grey pics!

You should obtain a wood steering wheel to match that dash. For some reason that steering wheel just does not fit right with that dash. It does look good though.

Send a wheel of your choice to whichever of the above forum members you are referring to.

Meanwhile, we see that you have not posted any photos of your interior in this thread. Hmmmm...

Actually there are 2 "wooden looking" ones: the first & mine. A person needs to be more specific.

Here's mine painted to match the exterior, although you could also do contrasting colors or special paint effects, best part is its cheap and is easily changed, worth a try to see if you like the effect, for me it really added some color to the rather bland grey interior

I love the wood, especially a nice burlwood... but in my opinion it just looks out of place with the gray interior. Like I said just my opinion, personal choice and all that.... not trying to knock anyone.

If you'd checked my 87 coupe project thread at https://www.fiero.nl/forum/Forum1/HTML/052684.html
as posted above you'd found:
"Bought a 120mph Inst. panel from maxthechainsaw. Installed an Air/fuel kit in it before swapping it in.

Check
https://www.fiero.nl/forum/A...060206-2-068263.html
for details."

Seems someone else think grey & wood with a reddish tint go good together.

I'm sure many people do...... which is why I also said personal choice, and not trying to knock anyone.I have the dark gray interior and for me it just doesn't work. If i had unlimited choice I would team a nice medium light burl with a burgandy leather interior for my white 86 GT. That might not be anyone elses cup of tea, but hey aint it great that we're all free to do whatever we want.

By "different" do you mean not being the vinyl tape? That is correct I did not use the vinyl tape. These are panels made with an aluminum foil and a thick urethane coating just like some of the dash kits. The problem is the place that made the panels for me is no longer around. They seem to have went out of business around the end of 2006. I have looked around and nobody makes the engine-turned design like these. All I can locate now is the vinyl tape or a place that makes the panels out of 1/8" aluminum and does the engine-turned pattern on them. They charge big $$$ for the full aluminum panels.

MTO's

IMO The gear shift knob & steering wheel drown out the dash kit.

I really like the wood wheel and gear shift nob. Are you thinking about wood on the door panels I think that would really finish it off. As close to perfect as you could get I think. As for a pic I'll take some soon and get back to ya

The panels are made from 1/8" birch ply done by me at home.

This images is larger than 153600 bytes. Click to view.

I also hand carved the shift knob out of a birch tree branch

The dust speckle is not in the clear. I just forgot to wipe it clean

In the process of doing close to the same thing as MTO's -

Differences -
APC steering wheel with burlwood and black leather, Pilot partial burlwood shifter, and medium burlwood dash kit all going in my Black GT with tan interior.

I'll post before and after pics once I get started on it.

Wow! Simply wow. I really admire your dedication. Beautiful work. It took me a minute to figure out what you deleted by the shifter. No ash trays!

That's easy. Just take a set of dash bezels to a machine shop and tell them to make duplicates out of the material of your choice.
It'll cost more than a dollar.

As an experiment this fall i took one dash and sanded off the fake chrome painted it black. I liked the look so I plan on making a complete set in aluminum then chemically 'blueing' them later this summer. Im thinking of redoing the 'openings' a bit to make it look a bit more modern in the process. I think black helped tone down that '80s look' the fake chrome gives you.

( the center console wasn't done yet in this image )
