This is the thread I've been looking for. I have an 85 4 banger and have spent the last two years working on the engine. I bought it as a commuter car because I drive 25 miles to work and back. I finally got it running pretty good. Idles at 900, get 34 MPG, and rides smooth. I am now looking to improve the cosmetics. It currently has a grey body, red decklid, and navy spoiler, what a combo. At least people from Uzbeckastan salute as I drive by. You guys have given me some good ideas. I have installed braided hoses and am about to send off a spare valve cover to be chromed. I wanted to do a chrome cold air intake and I know it's possible but I don't think the engineering part will work right for the Duke. GM knew what they were doing. I am going out and take some "before" pictures today and post when I have some good "after" pictures. Us Duke owners are kind of the red headed step children in the Fiero family, and probably deservedly so, I want a 2.8 as much as the next guy. But my car runs strong and delivers exactly what I wanted from it, good gas mileage, in a dependable good looking car. I'm glad to see some other people are proud of their 4 bangers and take care of them also.

Well I cant get Pip working in Windows vista so here is a link to some pictures of mine. BTW in one picture you can see the largest thing I ever put into a Fiero.... oh wait thats just me.
I was at Carlisle on Saturday and spoke to a guy that drove to the meet in an 85 2M4 notchback. The gas mileage claimed was 36 MPG,; high even by todays standards. Here is a guy who drove 100 miles to Carlsile and used less than three gallons of gasoline. You can drive pretty far in a Duke engined Fiero for little $$$. They may not be fast but they are nice looking and certainly economical to drive. That was the reason that they came about in the first place!

I got the same with my duke going to Carlisle this year. But, I drove 318 miles. My 6 got 31 and I can't complain about it either. -Jason
Heres is a photo my engine. A 1986 Duke with Hooker tri-y header, Holley performance TBI, Holley intake, full roller rockers, K&N filter and MSD ignition.

Hey, I talked to a guy yesturday about the turbo.. I was looking at these pics and saw one or two turbos. He said the head was ported and stuff, For more airflow. And he was running 4psi. Not sure what hp he had but i'm sure it was more fun. and like all turbos i bet the sound was cool. Fun project for sure.
