Haven't been on here long, but it seems that many of the " Fiero5 " end up going this direction?

Are you saying that no sports cars have ever had white walls?

Gold rims is a good color and could look decent on this setup, But the whitewalls pretty much destroy that purpose.
The red and white pinstrip near the areo molding helps in making hte whole car look mith matched.

Getting passed the mith it is pinstriping and though it is obvious that it is not something you would do, to each his own.

If anyone remembered the old colors or my car, Silver with black rims and yellow calipiers, I started a thread kind of like this asking opinions, And ppl gave honest ones about the overall look of the car. Instead of taking it as a threat. I actually listened and painted the whole car black.

Just curious what I ever said in here that gave you the imnpression I took some comments as a threat?
I started this therad on request of my Dad the same as many other threads are started, as simply a look at what we, or in this case he, did thread. A sharing of an idea and something different. My Dad had always wondered what white walls would look like on a Fiero and now he knows. Of course in sharing it with the rest of world he now knows how many others also think about it
If you need others to help determin what you should do with your car, that is your choice of course and at times can be quite helpfull I know. In this case however, my Dad neither needed nor asked for help in what he wanted to do. He merely wanted to share it with others on here once he was finished. If others chose to then give a comment or opinion on it once it was posted, they certainly had the ability to either do it in a respectfull way or not.

quote

everyone on this thread gave there opinions steve,

Yes they did and that was expected. We have no problem with that at all as I have stated many times now.

quote

Why not simply listen to some of them?

Did you think were we asking for help and advice here? We were not, we were merely just showing what he did.
He is proud of it and wanted to share it with the forum. I am sure that now he may think twice about wanting to share anything else for awhile based on many of the rude comments. Not that he can't take opinions good and bad as he can as well as the next person, but lets face it, there are obviously some on here I think just can't wait to say something hurtfull or insulting in hoping to maybe get something started or help create the next trash can thread.
It's fine though that people want to give their opinions, as again that is expected when publicly posting something on the internet like this for thousands to see all with very differeing of opinions. I will say it again, there are two ways you can say you don't like something. The prefered way on this forum is the more civil way as some have already shown in their posts, and then there is the not so nice or even nasty ways some others have sadly also demonstrated.
Hopefully my Dad will not allow a few hurtfull comments by hopefully a small minority on here effect his enthusiasm and excitement in continuing to try new things while enjoying his Fiero the way he likes.

quote

If you asked me what I thought about that car in person, I would give my honest opinion and flat out say, I don't care for it.

If I posted and said I actually liked it, Then that would be lying.

Thats fine, I am not asking you to lie at all if you wish to state your opinion, but since you apparently want to get really picky about it, it was never actually asked for either, just expected.

Keep in mind that my Dad's Fiero here is a nice stock blue '87GT. Everything he has done and added to it, the pinstripes, the rims and tires, are not a permanent change at all in anyway and can all easily be taken off/swapped with no effect to the stock and original status of the Fiero at all.

I think these quotes pretty much sum up the fact that it is ok to say "you don't like it" as long as you do it respectfully:

alot of people stated that they like everything but the whitewalls, you did receive quite a few compliments on the rim job (oh man that sounds funny) because it was some great work that looks good on a fiero. It's amazing how one simple thing can alter the look and class of a car....in this case, white wall tires. The rest of your car is probably kick ass.......there's no reason to stop posting your car's progress unless you can't handle criticism. In college I watched people go down in flames in front of 50 people because of a presentation they crapped out on, and they were criticized in front of the class almost to the point of tears....they never switched programs......Take Steve for instance, despite many of his threads sharing the same fate, he's still posting the green one with all the bolt-ons and stickers. You need a bit of thick skin anywhere on the internet....

Nobody said your car is a piece of crap, because it obviously isn't.....and alot of people said "it's your car, do what you want" or "I wouldn't do that". Everyone knows that whitewalls look confused holding up a fiero..... if you like it, good4u.....I like the rest of the car, but the whitewalls I would save for when I put my fiero in storage and don't wanna damage my other tires. And besides, at least you know you'll be the only one sporting that kind of tires on a fiero!

Hi again.I am trying some ideas with the lug caps.I did them all blue,it didn't look good.Tryed them with a white dot in the center, not good.SOOO I did them all silver, looks great. But I am keeping the white walls. They cost me $344.oo.But I still have the old tires and rims. The old tires are too worn and have some bad spots and cracks.Plus they are out of balance.Anybody going to the Merrimack Brewry show will get to see my new setup.Have a great Day!

All blue does look good, but a little too heavy. Two white racing stripes over the top off center would look good to. Who knows, maybe two white and a red stripe,up the middle of the white.He/He just playing with youall.

The wheels really turned out great. What kind of gold paint did he use?

I think part of what makes the wheel/tire combo look a bit odd is the wheels (great refinish, btw). A different style wheel, like the early Fiero steel wheels, might make an entirely different look.
On the other hand, on reflection, it might be that the rest of us are so ossified in seeing nothing but blackwalls on these (and most other cars nowadays) that we've become fossilized in our thinking. Props to 87V6GT for having the stones to step out of the box...

Hi. It's Dupli-Color - GOLD - Instant Gold Finish - Lacquer - Quick Drying. Clear coating dulls it some what. But just be sure the wheels are really clean,or the paint will fish eye.
BTW they look a bit better in person. Thanks for the comment Vonov!
