My Dad wanted me to post these for him. He took a set of regular GT/SE rims that he picked up awhile back just special for this project and then proceeded to clean them all up. After that painstaking chore was finished he then repainted them gold and then clear coated them:
Then he ordered a set of special white wall tires for them. Drull roll please.... and so here is the official unveiling of the final look:
With Alayne's new blue coupe:

Uhm...what exactly is it that you don't get? The fact that it is a Fiero or the fact that the rims are painted gold and they have white wall tires on them? I don't think I could have spelled it out any better

Sorry, I thought it was some kind of joke.

Everyone does (or should) realize that I love gold wheels (my new 18/17 combo are out being painted right now) - especially on darker colored cars.
I think the wheels turned out quite nice - but I just can't get over the whitewalls. White lettering works, but the whitewalls along with the honeycomb pattern look a bit too "pimp" for my taste. Kind of reminds me of Dayton Wire wheels with a set of overpriced Vogue white walls.
The Gold wheels look great, those white walls are a little over the top. I'm sorry Steve the whitewalls just don't do it for me. White lettering would be much better. It's not my ride, so to each their own. I guess if you like them thats all that matters.

I truly think they look great and I am not just saying that because he is my Dad either. I have to admit that I was quite a bit skeptical as well when he said he really wanted white walls, but then when he pulled up in it yesterday and we finally got to see it all together like that we were all like WOW that looks nice!! I have to say that now looking at the pics they just don't do it justice. You have to see it in person. Yes, it is his car and like many of us he will definetly do what he wants with his car

I was thinking the same thing, must look better in person then in the pic's. I've wondered what gold rims would look like with blue. There nice. Maybe it's the shock of seeing whitewalls on a fiero. I'll keep an open mind till I see it in person.
My 1st car, AMC Hornet came with whitewalls, couldn't wait to get rid of them. Maybe that's what is freeking me out.
I think I am going to say what everyone else is thinking:
I see bad taste runs in the family. [Wheels look good, tires look awful]
Ouch, that was really uncalled for. Another good example of someone posting an insulting comment thinking that they are speaking for the rest of the entire forum

I agree with most everyone else. I dont care for it much, The rim itself looks awesome. I dont know about gold with the blue, or the white wall. I think if u made the wheels look stock itd look sweet... IMO -Matt

I don't know...I think it's probably one of those things that don't translate well to the camera. I must say, though, that it does have the effect of making the wheels look bigger. I kinda like it, but I like RWL better than WW or plain black, which a lot of people don't like either...at least your grandpa has the gumption to know what he wants.
I definitely think that the blue/gold is fine. Heck, if it works for a WRX... ...although it would be better without the stock ground effect gray color (although that's getting into repaint territory).
But the more I look at those Whitewalls, the less I like 'em. Sorry.
...but as mentioned - it's his car and he should do whatever he likes!

Now he needs to paint it a darker red, Gold or black and lose the whitewalls and he will have a very nice decent looking ride. If going going with a gold or black paint job, Please lose the Red strip next to the areo molding.

i don't like it on that car but it has a place. there's an older guy i see off and on with a white 84-6 coupe with white walls. the combo works on it. as for the gold, i want that myself on my comvertible, but with blackwalls though.

I like whitewalls -on a '72 Ford LTD. They don't fit the look of a sports car. Also, the gold clashes with the silver and the blue and the rest of the car.
You did put it out there for comment. Right?
Edit - NOT to discount the trouble that was taken to clean up, polish and repaint the rims. Been there.

The wheels came out very good but the White walls don't really go with the sports car image. I think White lettering would have worked better. The White walls make the car look like a pimp mobile. I don't know if your Father was going for that look but to each his own. If he is happy with them, more power to him. It might be a generation gap thing going on here and his personal taste does not have to match any of ours.

Does my heart good to see a son stand so steadfastly to his Dad's side when near everyone is on his case. As for my opion, rims, great job, whitewalls, wrong car. I get flak about my TA white leters that are on Centerline Storm wheels. Seems the Fiero is sort of a timeless body style that still looks great today, but it realy don't fit with the cars from the 50s and those white walls. I'm likely older than your dad and can understand what he tried to do, but it just doesn't work for me either. At least all he has to do is turn them around to fix the look.

In my humble opinion, I feel that white wall tires belong only on old people cars. Kind of like seeing racing tires on a Cadillac Syndrome... Please consider reversing the tires before some ricer beats you up!

Actually, I just had a thought as I went back to save the picture for my collection... What would you think if the white walls were red instead to match the trim on the car- THAT might look really cool...
