It took two weeks to deliver but has finally arrived. I used Bullet Freight and will recommend them to NOBODY! 3 days transit time turned into 7 and then they couldn't deliver it because they didn't put it on a truck with a liftgate (although I paid $75 for one). Oh well, it got here today.

Opening it. We didn't use the liftgate because it was too small...

All tucked away until I get the rest of the parts from UPS. ie: Video instructions

I've removed all the panels except for the front hood. Tomorrow I'll take off the hood. That's all I can do until I get my video instructions to see what type of cutting needs to be done.

here some of the panels sitting on the car. I'm waiting for mounting hardware so this weekend I'll be doing some sanding and finishing work on a few panels.
The body is in really good shape and trimmed really well. There aren't any bubbles in the glass so my finishing time is less.

I wanted to get the panels on to see how far I need to bring the wheels out. Looks like 1.5 inches up front and 2 inches in the rear.

Thanks John. Your car is one of the reasons my wife fell in love with the finale. She really wanted the fino but your's changed her mind. She wants me to hurry up and finish it becuase she wants me to build a factory five cobra for her

$Rich$ - My thoughts (almost) exactly! I'm going to be ordering a SBC 350/300hp on Monday. Then the Archie kit some time next week.
I bought a used 305TPI but have changed my mind and want the 350. I will reuse the TPI system - I also bought new injectors from SLP for $99 from an LS1 (26lbs).

I will finsih the body before the engine but will paint it after the engine.
Looks like my plans to work on it today are on hold. I'm going soon to look at a civic hybrid - getting rid of a v6 mustang. Gas is $2.50 here for 87! The finale will be my fun power car and hybrid will be my commuter...

So pretty much everything just drops on? Is there any modifications needed for it to fit?

Ha, I see you car was also hit from behind, hence the back impact bar is bent, was the same deal with mine. Looking good cant wait to see it finished.

John,
What did you use to cut the gas filler neck? My tank is about 1/4 ful and I don't want anything dropping in it - or exploding!

When I did mine, I used a large pipe cutter that is used for copper pipe. It doesn't leave any filings. I believe I used a 1st generation Dodge minvan rubber extension to lengthen the filler tube. Trying to get gasoline grade hose is very difficult and very expensive. Mine cost me $2.

An oxy-acetylene torch, but I like to live life on the wild side.

Actually, I also used a large pipe cutter to cut the neck and a regular tubing cutter for the overflow pipe.

No update yet. You need to put the doors on before you can do anything else. I haven't received the mounting hardware yet so I can't put the door on to line everything else up.

I think I will get some progress made this weekend if I get the hardware/lights/hinges/etc.

I have done some sanding and cutting but nothing major.

I don't know the donor - I was wondering the same thing.

I think Archie told me it was a Euro version Opel of some kind, but I don't remember. If you break one, Archie keeps a few in stock just in case.

Update time!

My mounting hardware showed up last week so I was able to mount 1 door. I did a little cutting of holes (license plate, vents). But I don't have any pictures - will try to get them up this week. Next weekend I'm devoting to a friend's wedding and family stuff so there won't be much work done on it. I should have some more parts in this week (hint, hint, nudge, nudge Archie).

So what's the big update?

And a picture of some toys I've collected in the last couple months to put on. 11.25 brakes and 2" drop spindles.

The reason I want to build the finale is because it's so different. It's not like any other car out there and I like the attention Just look at this thread - John only has to post one picture of his gorgeous car and most of the posts are about his car.

I also want to thank John - he's helping me out with all my questions and he answers them a lot faster then I answer him to thank him; so thank's John.

The goal is get them in this car. I'll see if I can get them to fit into the Grand Prix housings - if not then I'll make my own light housing for them but it will be after everything is done.

What do you guys think of this?

Close up:

I don't like what it looks like on the side where the original gas door is, but I like the placement on the back. It will be in front of the wing - I'm sure the wing isn't really functional so it won't hurt the aerodynamics

That looks great! Perfect addition.

Edit: On second thought, are you going to have enough room in there to run the pipes down to the fuel tank? You need room to stick the nozzle in, too.

If this helps any, the last time I needed to build a custom filler neck I bent up a coat hanger to the right shape and took it to the muffler shop.

I'm not sure if there will be enough room. It looked to have about 6-8" behind it at the body angle. I will have to mock it up and test. I won't seal the hole for the original fuel cap just yet.

I hope it works.. That cap looks great and the location you have for it is (aesthetically) perfect. If all else fails, it might look almost as good mounted horizontally just ahead of where the wing starts to curve up.

Always like seeing updates on this project!

Update time. My wife and I just got a new boxer puppy so the finale has been on hold a bit.
Today I mounted the side mirrors. They are power/defrost type from a 2004 corvette.

Hey were did you get the Corvette side mirrors from? GM or a salvage yard? Do you think they would mount-up on a stock Fiero?

I've had numerous requests about the mirror mounting. I'm not sure how it will mount on a stock fiero - I'm not sure if the angles will work to keep the mirror flush and horizontal at the same time. I will need to build up the bottom edge on the finale about 1/8" to make it work...

Here is the back of the mirror to show the mounting style:
