I've got a 86GT with the leather/suede interior , AND the rear defroster. Funny thing about the rear defroster , it was an original Florida car!!!! But it works. In 2002 at the Daytona Fiero Weekend , out of all the Fieros there , mine was the only one there with the leather interior.

My car came with beechwood leather interior, (which is kind of rare), which was swapped out for gray cloth, which I am swapping for gray/black leather.

My 88 Couoe doesn't have a tilt wheel. I'm 6'3" and have no trouble getting in and out and in fact rarely ever tilt the wheels in the cars that do. Plus the non-tilt wheel never comes loose, What's kind of rare is my 85GT with PDL,PW.PM. tilt, PDR, sunroof and NO A/C.
As far as actual production options, things put on cars that others don't have.
1 AM/FM W/Equalizer in the 84's (Mine had one) 2 Luggage option 3 Sun roof shade 4 Rear Window defroster 5 Block heater 6 Sheep skin seats (my 84 had them and were wearing thin on the normal wear spot on the drivers side at 20K miles) 7 Blue paint in 85 (not really a option)

I remember hearing a rumor that some 88's came equipped with a factory car alarm. I'd imagine that would be pretty rare unless it's nothing more than a myth.

For the trivia fans out there, based on total Canadian sales figures, our data books show the rarest options to be: 1984 Fiero Sport model 2PM37 - 9 with AM radio code UL6; 1985 GT - 105 with Tan Leather interior code 643; 1986 GT - 5 with rear carrier code V58; 1987 GT - 12 with Light Saddle Leather interior code 622; 1988 GT - 20 in color Bright Yellow code 53. Total Fiero sales in Canada for all models were approximately 11,000 units in 1984, 7,000 units in 1985, 6,000 units in 1986, 3,000 units in 1987 and a total of 730 units in 1988. Unfortunately it is easy to see the decline in sales. Hope this is of interest.

Thats actually pretty cool to know that I have one of 3000 cars that came to Canada. I know its not that rare because theres so many other Fiero's out there but I'm sure they must be pretty rare now considering what our salt does to cars.... (at least in Ontario)

Vintagez, YES, that sort of info is of interest! Over the years I have sent away for the GM Canada Vintage report for several of my Fieros. It's great, but for $75, it's pricey and doesn't include the detail you're talking about. Tell me more, man! What about the numbers for other 88 GT colors? How about Formulas? What about other "rare" 88 options like leather, lumbar, or gold wheels? Do you know how many Canadian Indys were made? How 'bought blue 87 GTs?
Bring forth the Canadian Trivia- I love that stuff!!!

Yep The gray carpet was considered "Deluxe" trim.I believe that GM went wth all gray in 85. I found an 84 coupe at the local yard with the radio delete package. There was also NO wiring anywhere for the stock radio. There is the radio delete code, and there is also a code for "Radio wiring".This car had the radio delete code, and did not have the code for the wiring. The seats had the holes in to covers but no holes in the foam and no wiring.I did peel and save the RPO tag.I'll have to see if I can get pip figured out..
ALSO,a very rare, and 88 only option I think was the spare tire cover in the same gray carpet as the trunk liner.I have seen two before.

There was some kind of "delux" package or something in 87. Only like 10 made. All gold, gold trim or something and auto. Jack Cookie on the forum has one! I think that's pretty rare. Rear window defrosters are pretty common!

For rrobinson, Canada imported 160 Fieros with Y82 indy fiero option in 1984. The vehicle history packages only run $45 Canadian not $75, they include MVMA specs for your model year.In 1988 we imported 139 formula models. For GT models I believe the code for gold wheels was 60P and 19P for black, the numbers for those are 96 and 327 respectively,

Vintagez, Thanks for the info. Now that I think of it, $45 does seem about right. For anyone considering it, these packages contain excellent information. GM Canada's package is even nicer than the one PHS in the US puts out. For my 88, the Canadian package even included a copy of the dealer order sheets and option prices- a nice touch that wasn't included in my 87 GT package.
The only "production number" info included with the packages is total numbers of same model #s (ie GTs) produced for sale in Canada for that year. (423 and 1087 for 88GTs/87GTs). I have always wanted to get my mits onto more detailed information similar to what you have posted. My question is: How can I get a look at all the production #s by RPO code by year list? Can I "buy" it from GM? Can I bribe you with "Tim Hortons"?
Anyways, thanks again for the info you've already posted- I can't help it- I'm a production stats freak.

It was and still is a law in NY that you have to have a rear defroster on new cars.
True. After growing up in NY and the first car I bought in Florida I couldn't figure out why the rear window looked funny until I realized there was no rear window defroster. I had never seen a car without one.

Is the K05 Heater, Engine Block a block heater? If this is so then that is definetly not a rare option is it? I've almost never seen a fiero without it.
Probobly because you live in igloo country. I live in the south and have never even HEARD of an 'engine block heater', let alone seen one. My god, I have to struggle to keep the damn thing from running too hot! An engine heater? Kinda sounds like putting a portable a/c in a freezer.

How many GT Fiero's have 180 KM/h Speedos? I just saw the first one here in the states. I have seen many 140 KM/h but never the 180 KM/h. Some one has already contacting me on selling because he can nopt find one in Canada? I plan to install it in mine since I already have a metric dash in a export car.

For rrobinson I usually try to find a rare option and highlight it on the package that I send out, but it involves running a program that takes time, and computer time is money, so we usually do this on a per vin basis. If you want me to check something on your package call me (George)toll free in Canada at 1-888-467-6853 and keep your old one handy so I can reference it. For Fiero John WI just a small update, only 168 base Fieros in 88, not 170. For 88 gt people 27 in color 16, 100 in 40, 93 in 41, 36 in 77, 147 in 81. That's it, great forum by the way, everyone has a great deal of respect for each other, nice to see.

Although I find no mention of the high mileage option , I assume it was not offered in Canada. Regarding the fleece with suede camel tan seats offered in 84 on the SE, the RPO code was 643 and we sold 290 in Canada

Can you post a photo where you would plug in the block heater ? Is it a cord somewhere ?
Also if possable, what the block heater looks like, if you can get a shot of it

The block heater is actually mounted inside the block (on the front side I believe). You can see a picture of one here: http://www.jcwhitney.com/ (seach for block heater). My cord comes up along the front of the engine and is tied up near the dog bone (not used anymore as the car is no longer driven in the winter - although we use to get looks from people when we 'plugged' the car in from the back when we did drive it)
