me and my dad got most of the lines run for the oil and fuel and vacume. But as i am typing this we are going to the muffler shop but i still have 1 question which flowmaster should i get??
We used a 80 series flowmaster for a 83-92 Camaro/Firebird. You really need a case lenght of 19 inches or less. Its very tight!!!!!!!!!

Nice pics, I like to see the pics and a threads that do not have to do with a 4.9 carb
Hmm, not sure but was this pointed towards me? I have a thread going on my 4.9, what does it matter what type of fuel delivery I use? Why are people so negative about a carbed 4.9?
Very nice swap fieroking. You will surly be done before me, I'm still waitig on my flywheel.

No it was not directed at you personally, it was directed personally to Fieroking (it is his thread)
Sorry to fierokings thead: I am not a carb fan, but maybe I should be, because some of the carb guys say they can pull wheelies, That we can not I am looking foward to seeing that trick.
I had to get help to get our 4.9 EFI working just like every anyone else could. Carb is a choice just like EFI is. I know we don't need a pro and con thead again. When ever I meet someone with an engine swap no matter what I will compliment them on the areas I like and SO I am complimenting Fieroking on HIS work.

I'am back with more pics i got them done a while ago but i for got to post the pic got both sides done WOW dose it look good this is what the stuff looked like when i was done but my dad came up this a great idea put some of the slive tape on it no it looks really good. now my life is ready to go to the exaust shop on thrsday
that is about it for now because i have to work the rest of this week but i need the money to finish it.
What I've figured is, with a carb you won't get as good as gas milage. The extra 15 horse power is not worth losing 15mpg. So I think most people see it pointless to put a carb on. Others see it as taking a shortcut because the engine was designed for EFI.

Worse gas mileage? My 4.9 has a 350cfm carb. The intake holes on a 4.9 are 500cfm. It would be almost impossible to get worse gas mileage with my small carb. Intake ports were also designed to flow just air, I will be sending a air/fuel mixture down the same hole. I'd expect to get pretty close gas mileage to a PFI.
2 advantages of PFI Exact measurments of air/fuel Pass emissions (if we had em)
Advantages of a carb On the spot tuning, all you need is a screwdriver. Simplicity of install much cleaner install.
Everyone will have different opinions. I choose carb because I don't need it to start well when its cold outside. Fuel economy was the least of my concerns when I chose to put a V-8 into my fiero. Not trying to flame you Elenor, I'm just thinking out loud here. Hard to be subtle at 5 in the morning on a night shift
Fieroking, your install is beautiful. Its probibly the shiniest 4.9 I've ever seen. Have you got a quote for how much they are going to charge you for custom exhaust? What are you going to use? I was thinking 2 1/2 inch from manifolds to a 3" main into a 1 in 2 out muffler to the tips. I would love to have true dual exhaust but I don't think there is enough room without removing the bottom of the trunk.

And not intending to flame you either cry, but just curious, since you are restricting the intake holes alittle bit by putting a smaller carb on, do you expect to lose some horse power?
The reason I believe that carb will lose mpg is because of talks I've had with Steaven Rossi, he says he gets around 11mpg or somewhere around there, but he must have a much larger carb on his.

I just cant wait till tonight i am so excited probly the big thing now is i hope me and my dad got all the wiring squared away but we have had enought time to think about it.
Although I view carbureted engines as old technology and do not wish to start a debate on this thread, I will simply compliment you on a very nice install. I'm sure that you will enjoy the ride. One comment though- have you checked the fit of that Flowmaster Muffler?. It looks like it is going to be a pretty tight fit.
Well that muffler isnt a flow master it si a xlerator it is a high flow muffler. Tonight is a big car show in coeur D' Alene i wish i could drive my car in it but next month is the river city rod run i will have it running for that.
