maybe it was only me, but I wasn't too impressed with that longhorn place. i thought the place we went the night before was better. can't remember the name of it, but it was on the same road as the clarion. it was another steak place. i also heard there was an applebees in the area.

To me if you cant drive it (a Lot) whats the point of having it. Hopefully Ill have some new mods done by then too.

The Haagster asked me to post this for him, something about being busy . . .
"I went to the Clarion and have "tentitive" reserved 10 non-smoking rooms for May 17 check-in - May 19 check out for MAFOA (2 nights, 17/18 May). The rooms I asked them to hold are with 2 double beds. Nightly rate is $86.95 (for 1 or 2 persons) and $96.95 (for 3 or 4 persons) per room. So (if I understood him correctly), it'll cost $50 per person to stay in a room with 3 other people for both nights. And they do have additional roll-away beds should that become necessary (more people per room or...). <snip> . . . I have a map of the facility, and some other information that I could post for anyone interested.
The POC at the Clarion is David Stewart (717) 243-1717 or 800-692-7315. David did say that without a credit card or contract, he could only hold the rooms for a couple weeks (unless the rooms begin to get spoken for). If anyone wants to take one of the rooms now, all they need to do is contact the Clarion and let them know that they are with MAFOA's group (or let them know our reservation number is 4922)."

Jaygee,
Was that Hoss's by chance? That is a possibility. Applebee's is a problem due to the size of our party, which we cannot predict. Hoss's could be difficult for the same reason. The best part about Longhorn was that we could just show up, there was plenty of room. Of course, now I hear they have less room . . .
We are open to suggestions from anyone. Meanwhile, we'll look into Hoss's.

Has anyone heard from Boomtastic? Is he going to bring that Pro-Street down this year? To start a new rumor I heard he was going to put a 4.9 in that Fiero Go Cart he bought. Now to be serious Karen and I will be there with the yellow T-top. I have her out in the barn polishing the wheels right now. All those little holes take a long time you know.

My Wife and I will be there, with 1 or 2 Fieros, depending upon the situation. She still has to learn stickshift, first on the 84se then on to the 86se, cause she won't drive the 4cyl to carlisle, only the loud and powerful v6 - shes gotta have power. so, she maybe driving the v6 to carlisle and me the 4cyl. I'm not sure what catagory to put the v6 in, only 102k but I repainted the entire cradle and engine, new poly... thats about it everything else is pretty much stock . the 84 is going in the HIGH MILEAGE COUPES, so ALL you High Mileage guys, watch out cuz my faded silver 84se is going to be competition for you.... ! ! j/k
Thanks for the info Denny. I called the Clarion to make my reservation and there seemed to be some problem with registering under MAFOA. Something about "the block being tentative." So I asked if I could register now and get the price difference between the $95 normal rate and the MAFOA group rate straightened out later and "Eric" asked me if I was AAA, if so the rate would be $76.76 per night for a non-smoke room with a king size or two queen size beds.So that's what I did. I guess all I have to do now is register for the show and "clean, clean, clean."
Wife and I possibly looking for another couple to room at the Clarion fri/sat night, if Denny is correct it would cost $96 for 4 people, that would be about $48 per couple

We tried working with a different hotel the last two years, and had similar problems. Seems if you don't show them the green right up front they can't remember anything. And as a club we can't pay for rooms that we're not sure will be rented. Hate these dilemmas!

Yeah but they took my card and I won't get dinged until May and it's even at a better rate (bigger group). So I thought I'd mention that anyone who is AAA should use their card. It pays to be AAA. Sorry for the shameless plug but I'm not only a member, I'm an employee.
Hmm.. I didn't make the top 15 gilberts list, lol. Well looks I'll be throwin a blanket in the trunk. Hope that night doesn't get too cold~whats that JNCOmutt? huh? i didnt make the list either and i live there...u kno already where u get to sleep...i told u i would give up my room for u~i get the floor somewhere cant WAIT for carlisle~!!

As I think Bob said, the Longhorn's virtue is capacity. Unless we could predict the size of our group and make appropriate reservations, it would be difficult to find a restaurant that will seat everyone if we were to just show up at the door and say "feed us". Having said that...
Other potentials: Applebees is near Freysinger Pontiac on the Carlisle Pike, but reservations would be required and there is very limited seating (may limit the size of the group). Ruby Tuesdays (similar to Applebees), Red Lobster, Sierra Madre, Old Country Buffet (actually could handle seating a large group), Red Robin (expensive hamburgers - I was not impressed), Hoss Steakhouse (Bonanza on the other side of town has better steaks and buffet,IMHO)... Probably a good question to address would be "what do we (as a group) want to eat for dinner? That could make the restaurant selection easier...

Looks like I'm going to have to go see David again tomorrow He was so nice too. Why did he have to go and make me look bad? Now I'm going to have to kick sand on his shoes Hey, it's my first attempt at dealing with them. Next week when I get back from a business trip , I'll try to get something set up with a couple other places that should cost a little less money (I'm thinking about the Appalacian Motor Lodge across the street from the Clarion).

Joe, I beleive vendor spaces are $65 for the weekend. If you want to be near the Fiero Display area, you need to tell them that when you register. We have arrangements with Carlisle for that. Now, one potential problem for you - there is no power available. You can run a generator. Let me know if you need more info on this.

no it definitely wasn't hoss's. the main thing i didn't like about where we went last year was that it was expensive and there wasn't much of anything to choose from. i'm comparing to similar places in this area, of course.

I avoid all those problems by racing over early on sat morning, attending, then racing back home. How long it takes depends on how many troopers are out on the turnpike last year there were 2 or 3 hiding every 5-10 miles clear back to Washington, Pa.
Any chance of getting a rough count of how many people are going to need to stay in a motel for 1 night, how many for two nights, smoking rooms, non-smoking rooms, how many want to stay together, etc so that I can arrange the group contract with the Clarion (and/or the other motels in the area). I am going to beat David Stewart up on the AAA discount for members to get the best rates.

We will be there Friday through Sunday with our motorhome on the grounds. For those interested in camping or staying with us with your motorhome it is a cheap way to stay. I think last year it was $20 for two nights camping.

I'll be there arriving Friday, leaving Sunday. It is about a days drive for me, so I get in around 2:30 register for the show and get to the hotel. Motel6(?), Clarion(?) one close by the fairgrounds. I don't know if I can get Fran or AC to caravan down with me. Too far in the future for definite plans. I stayed at the Super8 last year, Motel6 was filled.
