Hey, JohnF, not trying to be a d!ck but is this an itinerary? Just about the only thing it does not have is the route for the afternoon drive on Saturday.

JohnF and family along with Loki will be at McKinney Park Friday March 1st sometime around or shortly after 2pm. Anyone wishing to Join them for dinner, please contact JohnF via PM.

As for Saturday, March 2nd. It would be advised that everyone gets to McKinney park at they're earliest convenience. perferably before 10:30am. (I don't even know if I'll be able to make it that early considering I'm driving 2 and a half hours or more myself)

Those from the San Antonio area. I'm having to change the meeting time at Bill Millers(1604@281) to before 8:30am so we can leave at around 9. I know that some will not be able to make this early and I appologize for the change.

I need to know who WILL be meeting us at Bill Millers, so please notify me in this regard. That way we will know if and when everyone will be at Bill Millers or maybe we'll have to wait a few more minutes for anyone running late.

McKinney Park ~ Hopefully everyone will be there by 10:30am. Some of us will be leaving on a couple hour cruise at 11am during wich the cruise will stop for lunch at a restraunt to be picked enroute. Some people have expressed a lack of intrest in the cruise due to the fact that they'll be driving for so long in one day. For those people we'll be having a hot dog and bar-b-que lunch at McKinney and I'm sure we'll have things on hand for entertainment.

The Cruise should be returning around or before 3pm. 4pm at the latest. After which time we'll proceed to "settling" into our campsites and relaxing with various entertainment until 7pm at which time we'll start the pot luck dinner, either at the dining Hall if we can lock this down (someone already has it resrved but we're second on the list if they back out) or possibly at JohnF's RV.

10 is lights out at most camp grounds, I assuming this one is no different.

Sunday March 3rd. Breakfast to be served at JohnF's RV unless otherwise determined. Serving time will be 8am (or correct me if I'm wrong on this JohnF)

9:30am-10am ~ Car round up at the designated parking area.

10am- (no later than 12:30pm) ~ Show and shine. or as the case maybe for some of us, just show Also GROUP photos to be taken during this time.

12:30- 2pm ~ farewells and camp cleanup. Mist be out of the shelters and sites by 2pm.

Hanging around untill that evening is welcomed as long as our sites are clean and we're checked out.

REMEMBER!! There is a $2 per person over 12 admission fee to the park along with a $5 a car excess vehicle fee for overnighters. These are to be paid by YOU the attendee's. Also a reminder that we're asking a non-required but appreciated $10 per Fiero forparticipation to help pay for everything that we're covering.

(I hope this appeases to the masses this time. And I hope everyone enjoys and appreciates what me and revin are going through trying to get this all worked out. Any further questions or comment email or PM, either revin or me.)

Thanks for the intrest and the participation.
Josh

So this is what I see:

Friday, March 1

2:00pm (Approx.)
JohnF and family, and Loki will be at McKinney Park.

Anyone can join them for dinner, but those who want to eat dinner need to contact JohnF via PM.

Saturday, March 2

Overall
Everyone should arrive at McKinney Park at their earliest possible time, but best is by 10:30am

Specifics for those near San Antonio.
Saturday, March 2

8:00 - 8:30 am
Meet at the Bill Millers BBQ near 1604 and 281 departure is around 9:00am.

Those meeting at Bill Millers BBQ need to contact RedHaze86SD4, this way no one is left behind.

McKinney Park, 10:30am
Two Options
1) Cruise
2) Dinner at McKinney

Cruise
Leaves near 11:00am, and the cruise will stop for lunch at a restraunt to be picked enroute.

Dinner at McKinney
For those not wanting to go on the cruise, there will be a hot dog and bar-b-que lunch, and RedHaze86SD4 said that he's sure there will be things on hand for entertainment. (So bring Horse Shoes, Baseball, something - this is my added comment)

3:00pm
The Cruise should be returning near 3:00pm, but no later than 4:00pm

4:00pm - 7:00pm
"Settling" into our campsites and relaxing with various entertainment

7:00pm
We'll start the pot luck dinner, either at the Dining Hall or possibly at JohnF's RV.

10:00pm
Lights Out

Sunday, March 3,
8:00am
Breakfast to be served at JohnF's RV unless otherwise determined.

9:30am - 10:00am
Car round up at the designated parking area.

10:00am - 12:30pm
Show and shine, also GROUP photos to be taken during this time.

12:30 - 2:00pm
Farewells and camp cleanup. Must be out of the shelters and sites by 2pm.

2:00 - ?
Hanging around until that evening is welcomed as long as our sites are clean and we're checked out.

REMEMBER!!
Admission Fee of $2.00 per person over age 12
Also a $5.00 car excess vehicle fee for overnighters.
These are paid by YOU the attendee.

Also, we're asking (a non-required but appreciated) $10.00 per Fiero for participation to help pay for everything.

To me this looks well organized and thought out, and tries to accomodate everyone. Again, about the only thing missing is the route on the cruise.

[EDIT] for misc. errors [/EDIT]

Gold-86, I'm pretty sure the consensus is to use Cultcar's suggested route (if I'm wrong somebody correct me). Here it is...

It is a 70-mile round trip. From the park, take McKinney Falls Pkwy to Burleson, Burleson to Montopolis, and then left onto Ben White (Hwy 71). Drive all the way out as it becomes Loop 360. Drive 360 to the expansion bridge. Stop for photos. Continue one mile and turn right onto Bull Creek Rd. (FM 2222). Go 2 miles and hang a left on Mount Bonnell Rd. Stop at the lookout for city views and photos. Head back toward 360, but continue on 2222. A slightly curvy, hilly drive. It ends at Hwy 620, so take a left and head for Lake Travis. Same slight curves and hills. Reach the Mansfield Dam for some more photos. Continue on and take right onto Hudson Bend Rd. Stop for eats at Carlos & Charlies (indoor/outdoor on the lake) on Hiline Rd. Get back on 620 and enjoy the curves/hills to end at Hwy 71. Turn left and drive 1 mile, then again left onto Bee Cave Rd. (FM 2244). Take this exhilarating road all the way back to 360. Right on 360 will return you to the McKinney park!

Sorry been busy...

As for the event schedule, Gold-86Se is right and I believe Cheever is right about the cruise. I wasn't wanting to plan the actual cruise as much because I won't be taking it. I'll be hanging out at the camp sites for most of the event. Due to new situation I wont even be driving a Fiero to the event.. well maybe if I can figure out how to get the Indy up there.... Otherwise will be sailing in a land yacht at the back of the pack LOL

Incase no one sees the other post. I no longer own the RedHaze but my NSAN1T is becoming quite the Fiero Frankenstein LMAO

Good grief! Did you ever come to the right forum!!!!!! No work, just opinions! Hahahahaha!

Even though I have a "little" Tech 4 to show, I have ordered a dual outlet SpinTech and oval outlets from West Coast. I hope to have them installed before the meet.

*Bump*

Hey guys (girls??)
Please remember this is a get together of the love of the Fieros. This is not a company sponsered event with all the bells and whistles normally seen at car shows(tire manufactures, car products, etc.) NOT even the guy that sells the super absorber (orange towel)
So we have to make the best of what we(red haze and myself) have done so far on a tight budget.

If ANYBODY wants to do or try something else, well there is always next time!? We have gotten plenty of sugestions about the "run" and I think we will go with what we got. :P

As far as the "list of things to do" well...we have gotten it this far and if you want to bring in a band, or cater in food, or a big bounceing castle or have other forms of entertainment please bring it on !

We will learn from our mistakes(?) and make improvements for the next time we get TEXAS gathering together. We just want to meet all Texans that own a Fiero, do a little talking, driving, compareing notes and have some fun!
I think this will/can be the bigest gathering of Fieros in Texas! So bring what you have (ready or not) trailered if have to.
Let's just have a good time, nothing (but the drive) is set in stone so If you want to bring ...whatever to this rally...go for it!
Can't wait this will be fun just wait and see............
A challenge to all........SUPRISE US!!!
Kevin

I am renouncing my attendance upon learning that there will be no mariachi band for Saturday entertainment.

RedHaze and Blankinspace check your PM's.

Does anyone know if we can get the large dining hall yet? If not, what will it take or what can to be done.

I will have an E-Z-Up set up at my site and it will make a good covered meeting place. However, parking could be a problem unless attendees are willing to walk a little through the woods. Looks like a 300 yd hike, or so from the general parking area.

Everyone coming for the Saturday nite "pot luck" should bring what they want to bring but bring enough for at least 2 people. Everyone that comes is invited to the pot luck but everyone may not be able to bring something. So, they should be able to enjoy the dinner also.

As I said earlier, I am bringing 2 rather large Tex-Mex dishes (Carnitas Tacos & Beef enchiladas)(each will feed about 5 or 6).

We will need paper plates, paper cups, paper towels, spoons, forks, knives, drinks (sodas, waters, whatever???? remember we're not driving after dinner, hehehehe) and whatever else someone wants to bring.

We'll have ice chests and lots of ice!

Thanks NTFC, again.

We had a great little get together and luncheon this noon time.

About 8 cars and 11 owners. OOOPS! Some showed up without a Fiero! OMG! One of those was me! All in all about 50 cars represented (fastfieroV8 was there!)

I guess I will have wait until Austin to debut my "new" looking '88. I had to hitch a ride to this little get together.

As has been said, "So much to do and so little time."

Well I guess I'm going. I barely got everything done on time. I had to regester it, fix the toe in, and new tires. I took it for a test drive today out to the northern boarder at some state park. Even after 3 months of sitting, no problems.

Don't forget me, I am now an AAFO member too! I'll be there Saturday. I don't know how many (if any) Lone Star Fieros people will show up, but they know about it.

Somebody give me an idea what kind of non-perishable food to bring. Or plates, cups, whatever might be needed.

Since Saturday's evening meal is supposed to be a pot luck, hopefully everyone will bring something for them and some extra to put out. I'm bringing Tex-Mex.

A couple of people to volunteer to bring the liquid refreshments (I will bring some also).

Someone (me included) should bring plastic ware (knives, forks, spoons), paper plates and disposable drinking cups.

Next to my R.V., I will set up my 10 X 10 e-z-up (with walls) for warmth and have at least one electric heater in it. I may even place it toward the sites' fire ring and get a roaring blaze going if the temperature is right.

At least 3 people (besides JetroGT above) from NTFC (including me) said last Saturday they were coming to Austin. If so, that would be a total of 4 from this area.

Well, Jane ain't gonna come, too cold. & I may not, our forecast is calling for 'wintery mix" freezing rain, sleet, snow. Low 17 high of 42. I can always drive the Cherokee, but I hate to go off & leave her alone with that kind of weather. We'll have to see what Sat morn looks like here. And it was in the 80's Sat here, but 19* yesterday morning. BRRRR

Okay, I'll bring several cans of tuna and a can opener! I don't know what will fit in my trunk that will keep fresh the entire day. I'll either go out for some fried chicken or just come home.
Tell ya what, I'll bring a bunch of 2-litre sodas if someone will provide me a meat dish.

Ok folks.....
Cold is ok in my book....but freezing rain is a different story. BUT....we still have like 2 days and I have lived here long enough to know it can change without the weathermen having a clue.....so plans for now are still to go....at least for the day. BUT.....if it is going to be wet combined with cold, then tunes may change.
It can be cold, but with sunshine, its fine.

My only problem is that my tires don't have much left on them and are dangerous on wet roads.

It's looking grim. I was hoping to get some opinions on my GT I just bought, but rear engines aren't fun in the rain let alone the possibility of mixed stuff (haven't done it but don't want to try). Even if it doesn't do it there, it's up here I have to worry about. I'm hoping though....

A cold front will come on Friday night. The only chance of rain is ONLY 20-30%. Not enough to really worry about. I don't want anybody to have a wreck or anything! I hate the cold as well ! I cannot come up with a rain out date as of today...it's just too close to cancel, and I want to eat steak with JohnF on fri. <<<<JOHN, we still on ????
We have south by southwest coming the next weekend till the next weekend and let me tell ya...Everything will be crowded!!!

I would like to reorganize this meet to something in the spring, when the flowers and grass is blooming. and so loki and smooth can come down and others as well !

There are three cabins (just bring a elec. heater and we will be fine!) that will keep the cold off of us! wish I had a car koozie! hee hee

Please try to make it!

Check out the weather at www.keye.com (local tv station, click on the weather tab.)

You know, I try not to get upset about the weather, but why in the world did it have to come up freezing on this weekend?

AAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It has been beautiful for the last 3 weeks or so, Indian Summer I guess, and now what? Crap for weather.

I have two Fieros an 84 SE with heater and an 86 SE with no heater. The 86 I trust to long trips, the 84 I don't. So what to do about Saturday. Freeze... or be comfortable with a heater and chance it crapping out somewhere around Blaco or worse... sheesh... decisions, decisions.

I will still be at Bill Millers waiting for Fieros on Saturday morning. All I can say is, dress warm and if your staying overnight, pack warm too... This is a do or die thing for me so I'm doing it

Will be waiting at bill millers at 7am for those who are still planning on meeting me there. Wont head up to meet the rest of the group unil probably 8:30am

Come on guys!!!!! Chances of precip are slight in Austin. Chances are very slight in the DFW area.

I'll be at McKinney, steaks on the grill Fri nite even if I have to do them inside the E-Z-Up. I've done a chili cook off in a tent north of Montreal in the winter. This "ain't" no big deal!

Were about to find out who the wimps are!!!!

Cheever bring anything you would like to bring - drinks would be nice. There will be my R.V. frige plus at least 2 large ice chests to put perishables in.

I have "meat" dishes prepared for 8 to 10 people regardless.

BTW - Fieros handle great in the wet.

For those in the San Antonio Area who are meeting at Bill Millers. Look for a ugly white 75 cadillac Eldorado with dark windows HAHAHAH that'll be me. Should also have a black fiero (redhaze) there but they might come up later.

I wish I could drive up there Friday night John. Steaks sound good but while you guys are munching on steaks, I'll be breathing exhaust fumes and burning rubber at the strip. We're videoing the races so everyone will get to watch and laugh at me drag racing a cadi. Even if its slow its still fun

And yes I have a pair of thermals so I'll be staying nice and warm all day saturday

Last minute weather shows it will not be a nice Texas week end.

Sun. morn is not a good time for a show of any kind. It will be too cold to get out and about.

The Sat. cruise will be fun for those attending.

The pot luck dinner Sat. eve will also be a great time. I can assure everyone attending, I will try to make sure that a warm, comfortable place is provided. As I said, I'll set up the enclosed tent and heat that sucker!

As it sits right now, there is a good possibility that I will NOT get my Fiero out of the paint shop in time for the show.

I WILL be on site tomorrow (Fri.) evening, though.

See ya!!!!!!!!!!!
