all of you who told me the fan switch was bad....you are correct! i located it tonight. it's a pin on the 4 speed cars due to it being hidden behind the shift and select cables plus being shielded by the heat shield. it didn't help that mine was broken! the connector was just dangling there. with the top part of the switch still connected! so it's safe to say, my switch is bad lol.....i'll grab one this weekend and try it out.

Wahoo! Score one for the boys back home . They are pretty pricey. Email Wheels1 and see if he has any. I got one from him and it works great.

i think mine was different than that one. i say "think" because i'm not positive because mine was broken up and trashed. i'll have to look at the connector.

It is different, that one will not work, you need to buy the correct one.

I don't know if you would consider doing this, but I thought I'd throw it out anyway. When the 2 speed fan motor went bad on my 84, I changed the whole system over to the 1 speed set up. My main reason was the high cost of the 2 speed fan motor and switch. I went to the junk yard and got the fan relay and connector for the one speed fan motor and the fan switch, got Rodney Dickman's low temp fan switch for the one speed motor ,bought the more open fan motor mount and fan from a MAFOA member and got a new fan motor from the auto parts. I now have a good working close to stock system with low cost, easy to replace parts. The only loss was that the fan only has one speed, but the fan still turns on when I activate the A/C.

i'm not opposed to switching to the single speed fan. i'll throw a new fan switch in it and if that doesn't work, i will look at that option while i rewire everything. i had to pay my mortgage this week though, so no parts for me i won't be able to buy anymore parts until the first week in august now. i need front calipers (sending the money for those tomorrow), alternator, fan switch, front rotors, front bearing seals (bearings are good) and tires. that "should" get me on the road, barring any other gremlins...damn i cannot wait to drive this car. i bought it months ago thinking it only needed a starter! but i guess it's better to find all of the bugs now. it does need a paint job, but that will have to wait. for now, it will just have to look ghetto with it's faded paint and flaking clearcoat. at least it should be roadworthy. i'm hoping with all my might, that i can drive it by the end of august.

had a pretty decent day today. i went to the junkyard just to kill some time and snoop around. there is a white 88 formula and a maroon 87 coupe. the 87 had near new rotors on the front so i grabbed them. the bearing races look really good so that was a bonus. on the way home i picked up two new wheel seals and went to work. i just finished installing both rotors on the 84. now i need the front calipers (payment sent, so maybe a week or so), a fan switch (none available locally, need to order) and an alternator. then a set of cheap wally word tires and i should be running the streets!
