Just was in at Shell throwing some gas in the car and the lady at the pump asked me if I wanted to fill up as gas was set to rise almost 15 cents a litre this afternoon should the bailout proceed. Just a heads up for you planning on doing any driving this weekend.

What the deuce. Why is it that us Canucks always seem to get shafted with the gas prices? Kind of crazy that justification for the price increases is because of going-ons to the south when the prices apparently haven't been affected there. Anways, this will put us well back over $6.00 a galon US again.

I'm sure its too far away. I'm an hour south of Springfield and an hour Northwest of Branson. I saw the $2.94 price in Republic, on my way to Springfield. In Aurora (very small town) gas is $2.98.
Strange. Marathon's refinery at Beaumont Texas is supposed to go back on line today, and Exxon's refinery at Port Authur is reporting electricity and steam back on line, with repairs proceeding to the effect they expect to be back on line late next week.

i know.. i read somewhere that BC, or more specifically the lower mainland, has the highest gas prices in canada... lucky me! Where in canada do you live loafer?
We went from $3.20 to $3.14 this afternoon. Diesel is still right at $3.87 and has been for awhile.
For Blackrams:
Your Dodge pulling a trailer, 13 mpg = 29.8 cents per mile My Chevy pulling a trailer, 9 mpg = 34.9 cents per mile.
Diesel still the most fuel/$ efficient by about 15%, but the gap is narrowing. (I'd still rather be running a diesel, though, in spite of the grief I give you! )

I think we established a long time ago, gasoline prices have next to nothing to do with crude prices, they rise on an oil companies whim, and are explained away with whatever is current.

I feel for you loafer but we get shafted over here too when something happens in the USA. We are currently sitting at $6.10 a US gallon. But with our recent dollar devaluation it has dropped it to about $4.50 US. A few weeks ago when I dollar was thriving it was $6.00 US.
I got sick of paying the high prices so we have just traded my Focus XR5 Turbo in on a Ford Mondeo Turbo Diesel. Same torque as the Focus but gets 1000 kms a tank and is great sized family car. Diesel is 15c to 30c a litre more but the savings are huge.

Hmm, that's odd, seems its th opposite here. It was $3.23 last night, $3.13 this morning, and $3.09 just now on my way home from work.

Gas is around $3.45/gal here. While standing in line at KMart earlier today, a young (late teens/early 20s?) kid said that he was "impressed" to see the gas prices so low. I told him I'd be impressed if they knocked another buck and a half off the price. He mumbled something about in his grandfathers time. I didn't bother to let him know just a few years ago prices were below 2 bucks a gallon.

$3.06 / gal regular with 10% ethanol, $2.85 / gal E85, $3.87 Diesel. I'm thinking under $2.90 / gal on November 3rd? Time to fill up people, it could go up on November 5th either way.

I get tired of people telling me I shouldn't have bought such a gas guzzler if I am concerned about the gas prices. When I bought my truck, I could fill the tank for less than $25. Now, it has been a long time since it has been filled because the pumps shut off my credit card at $75. Why don't I sell it? Because the value of my truck has been inversely proportional to the price of gas. It is too late.
In reality though....I don't fret about a jump in gas prices any more. A 20 cent increase per gallon will cost me an extra $5 to fill it. I don't even notice that with these prices. My best comparison.....when you are being gang-raped by 6 guys, does it matter if a seventh steps in?

With a tail end like that I bet you wouldn't notice it!
I grumble about the price of gas but never complain. Sort of like bitchin' about the weather, doesn't make a difference it is what it is.

Now that the shortages are being resolved, gas is already starting to drop, here. I paid $3.75 / gal the other night, after sitting in line for 20 minutes or so. They were the only people for miles who had gas, and were still $.25 per gallon cheaper than anyone else. Everyone else was $4 to $4.19, even though they didn't have any to sell. But, three days later, now that the supplies are starting to build back up, everyone is $3.79 or below. I predict that it will be below $3.50 by next weekend, and will continue to drop.

Your own Gov't is a big part of that but a huge number of you keep voting the same asshats into seats. Just like the UK and several other countries in Europe. Whine all you want but you've got no one to blame but yourselves for accepting these taxes. Especially the percentage based ones that your gov't has been raping you with for years. Every time the wholesale price goes up, so do your taxes. Your gov't has made many Millions of Loonies in extra fuel taxes this year.
And gas here... About $3.25 a gallon today.

In Iowa the states per / gallon tax goes to infrastructure repair, slush fund money in normal years. Iowa DOT had a bad year, due to weather. Oh Noes, we have bad roads, the Governor wants a few cents more. How about replacing the money that was diverted into the General Funds over the past 10 years? In Iowa, it was 2 democrat governors over 3 terms, cooking the books. Iowa's Bicameral legislatre went (anti- Bush landslide) 2 years ago. Drunkin' Sailors, nubie party puppets, figuring that they had Mandate.

I'm bummed... I can't fill my Fiero today. It's been a rough week.
Fuel pump died 85 miles from home Thursday afternoon. I couldn't exactly drop the fuel tank in Climax Research Services' parking lot. So the poor Fiero's sitting in a shop halfway across the state, while a......... rented .....FORD........ sits in it's spot in the driveway. UGH I hope it's not leaking oil all over my driveway lol. And I'd have gotten so much joy out of parking the Fiero in front of Ford's Dearborn lab today when I had to spend half the day over there. Damn. To cap it off, I missed a call from the shop while I was out in Dearborn. Even though today was a 17 hour workday, yesterday was the low point of my week.
Actually, the Mustang I rented is pretty decent; but it's no Fiero. Hopefully tomorrow I can take it back to Hertz and bring my baby home where she belongs. The other Fiero looks lonely out there tonight

Sucks to have weeks like that. Been there, done that. When my explorer was in the shop I got a 07 GP for a rental..base model from enterprise. What a dog. If I had bought something like that new its no wonder why people buy imports.

Yuppers. That may well be Monday morning. The fires I've got burning are gonna take the extra large extinguisher. At least I was able to save my weekend by getting some stuff done after hours tonight. The lab crew at Ford flat refused to work over the weekend lol.
I'd probably have calls piling up in the morning, but.... Oops, I must have left my company cell phone in the lab. My bad.

Take no offense, I have no idea what your position is or what you do, but why not address the situation now? When I get a phone call I have to handle it. When a situation occurs that is beyond my scope I call the person who either created the problem/or who can fix it. IF nobody answers then I have to earn my keep.

How do you figure that? It would seem to me to be more like an increase of 60 cents per gallon.
By the way, here in Vancouver gas is currently $1.20 per litre, the lowest it's been in ages.

Shoot! Did my math backwards. You're right - it would work out to 52 cents US per galon. The good news is apparently the lady at Shell didn't know what the heck she was talking about, or the stations didn't go ahead with their rate increase because gas is still the same here at 1.33 a litre.
