It's been a fun day so far with only minor mishaps. We got to the hotel about half an hour ago and started getting people checked in. It is still early and we know more are on the way. At this point we have 13 Fieros, 1 Miata, a Honda, a Cadillac, and a couple of trucks. There may be others that I don't know about yet.
I know that there have been a lot of pictures taken already and we'll try to post more later tonight. Now it is off to the Main Street Grill for dinner. Wish you all were here!
There is still time for all of you that aren't here to join in on the fun! Just meet us here at the hotel at 8AM in the morning for the Run going north, or meet us in Salinas for lunch and come back south for the dinner and raffle.
15 Fieros so far (and all the other cars). More will be here in the morning.
Here are a few pictures from the drive over. This was early and not so many cars yet.

Yes it did, Todd. Thanks! And I gave out certificates for the ones you donated. I'll send you the names of the winners when I get home...
Marie wore the Got Fieros? shirt on the run today that I bought. It was a hit and made the certificates a prize people wanted.
Thanks to all of the participants and vendors that made the Coast Run a success. We raised over $300 for St Judes and got quite a collection of stuffed animals and toys to donate to UCLA. It is great when you can do something you enjoy and still help people at the same time.
Dale, It was a great day and I for one really enjoyed my self. I know that I am here at the run and you are just upstairs and I could just go out side and tell you what a great time I had and how much of a success the run was, but then every one on pff wouldn't know it. So I will just post it here. If you out there did not make the run today you really miss out. We had a great time and a terrific dinner and lots of stuff donated from the vendors for raffle prises for people to win. I think everyone enjoyed them selves. So if you didn't make this one DON'T miss the next one next year. It was great. Thanks again Dale, and Rie for the great time. Bob
Being were not exactly morning people, we didn't wake up until around 11am today. We looked outside and only saw Daniel's Yellow GT so we figured everyone had probably started back so we did. The car did do the overheating thing about halfway down 46, as I saw the guage getting close to red I pulled off on a street and as soon as I did this the guage went back to normal (hmmmmm) so I got right back on the road and did the other half of 46 getting to 101 at the Jack In The Box that we stopped on Friday. There we let the car cool off, filled up the anti-freeze and started back on 101. We found out that basically if we kept the car under 74mph we could keep the guage out of the red. Then we got a nice surprise when I looked in the side mirror and thought to myself "that looks like a fiero coming up", and it was Kit So we had a mini-caravan after all. We stopped again and bought new caps for the radiator and the one in back also. But that didn't solve the problem. Although the one in back definately needed to be replaced. We made it home just fine though.
I thought most fieros overheat in town/traffic, yet mine does it when your going fast Grrrr
Thank you to everyone who made this event possible and helped us with our issues too. We had a great time.
John, I'm glad you guys made it home safe. We actually didn't all leave this morning. We just went down to Morro Bay for breakfast. It was kind of funny. We had 29 people at breakfast this morning! That is about what we had at the first Coast Run!
I'm not sure exactly what is causing your heating problem. I will suggest again that you find out if Rodney's low temp fan switch eill work on a 3.4. If not, find one that will so you get your fan on quicker. Also, as we said, keep your A/C on since it is not plugged up right now anyway.
One big thing that I would recommend is that if your front radiator cap is a Stant, replace it. The Stant numbers in the book are not correct for Fieros and will let water get by. I think Marie told you the story of our cross-country trip from hell that was all caused by several incorrect Stant caps. When I got to CA and put another brand on it, it started working fine and has till this day.
Anyway, thanks for coming on the Run. It was nice to meet you and your son and we hope we'll see you at lots more events.
By the way, my GT doesn't overheat anymore even stopped in traffic when it is 116 degrees outside. It rarely ever goes over the 1/4 mark. I give most of that credit to Rodney's 195 switch. It is possible to make a cool running Fiero.
Well, Daniel just left our house on his way back to Ridgecrest.....and yes, we have pulled another innocent soul into our grimy clutches...Brianna, my daughter is now signed up on the forum ( BrowneyedBri) and has her eye on one of Dales fieros-not just her eyes...shes actually the new owner- so...she will be joining the group from now on...shes hasnt gotten approved yet, so I'll let her post her thoughts about this weekend on my sig:
Hi everyone. Yes it's true I have been bit by the fiero bug... so I am signed up and will be on the forum shortly. I had a great time on the run and am glad to have made some new friends. Thanks everyone for a good ride! "I'll see YOU...at coast run 2006"

Sorry we couldn't say good-bye to ya all this morning. I had to take Patti to the emergency at San Luis Obispo. Her ashma started acting up due to her cold. That really gave us a scare. But, thank goodness the emergency staff at Sierra Vista Regional Hospital were able to help us out. We finally made it home safe around 4:00 pm.
Dale thanks again for a taking on the 2005 Coast Run. Patti and I had a wonderful time. It was nice seeing the Coasters again this year. Looking forward to the Coast Run 2006.
I hope everyone made it home safe.
SEE YA ALL NEXT YEAR!!!!

Songman & Rie: Thanks for putting on this show and all the work that it involved. You're real down to earth people...enjoyed meeting the both of you!
Fierobear: you're NOT allowed to enter any more raffles....dang it! ( Perhaps it would have been easier to back your car up to the raffle tables, pop the decklid and load it all in!) Oh, and dont forget about those tires.....
Gecko: Glad we were able to caravan together on the way home. About the car....you have a coolant flow problem! Before you yank the radiator out, try Prestone's "radiator flush" first. Oh, I forgot to mention that you should also get underneath the car and make sure your coolant tubes are not collapsed. Lastly, thanks for the cell phone charger!
Rickady: Good to see you and Jen again and of course your 3.5 DOHC wonder. On our way out, I was able to keep up with you for a grand total of 4-5 minutes. Then it was all over...

We had a blast. Thank You Dale and Rie for all the hard work. Must be a true honor that others copy your work for their events And to every one else that helped, I think you.
The first length of the trip was the "fastest" and best part. Very little traffic and for the most part the slow cars pulled off. I think we made record time to the first stop? Even my wife was wanting the traffic to pull off for good clean road

Had a great time! Forgot the camera, so no pics. Wouldn't have had much time for it anyway, especially not while driving. Thanks to Dale and Rie and everyone else who helped make it happen! It was good to see everyone again. I made it back home fine, as did CaliforniaSpeeder9 and Steven Snyder. Sorry I don't have more to say, but I've been sick since last week and its gotten a lot worse, so I'm pretty beat now after this long weekend.
Nice pictures everybody!!! This was my first coast run and i definitely had a awesome time. A special thanks to Dale and Marie for helping me out and making this happen for me. Now i just cant wait for next years run. Im excited about brianna getting a fiero of her own. Its was very cool to have brianna ride along with me and im sure i only made her want a fiero even more. Thanks everyone for helping me out and it made my first coast run a extremely fun weekend!!!

Jess, Tell Patti that we hope she is feeling better. I wondered where you were this morning. Not the best way to end a good weekend but at least there was a happy ending. Hope we get to see ya'll again soon.
Ed, great pictures! Glad you and Sandra made it out again this year. Ya'll have to start making more than one event a year! But if you are only gonna do one, I am glad it is this one!
Kit, it was a real pleasure... Now, don't you think it's time to go wipe your car down again!?! haha
Rick, you oughta know about the feeling of people thinking your work is good enough to copy. The cool thing about you is that you come on down and help people copy you.
I'm glad to see more and more people getting home safe. Hopefully everyone will check in with at least a hello so we'll know they are home.
Scott, thanks for coming down for Saturday night. I know you were busy and had to drive a lot to get back. I hope the drive, and the good times, were worth it. At the very least, look on the bright side... Rie didn't have to kill you for anything.
Daniel... Did you call your mother and let her know you are home safe? Thanks for letting Brianna ride along. I think she liked the Fiero better than having to drive my Ranger on the run. She is definitely stoked for me to get the GT ready for her now. I have your pictures downloaded and will work on your shirt tomorrow.
BTW - If anyone needs a place to put up pictures, let me know and I can let you FTP them up to my server.

Dale, Yes i called my mom already and let her know i was fine. Brianna was good company and i was glad to have her along, she was so excited about getting her own. I was so happy for her. I know how it feels to want a fiero for so long and then actually get to drive one and own one. No rush on the shirt, just when you get the designs done then i can pick the one i like the most. Thanks for everything. Daniel

I wish that I didn’t wait so long to get my duff in gear to head out to the run. Makes the point that this will be the first and last coast run due to my graduation / moving in May even better because I had one hell of a time. Thank you for putting it together & happy belated birthday as well.
A big thanx to those that held out and waited for us this morning while Alicia and I got the kids loaded on the way to breakfast. I know that all my daughter McKenna did was talk about all the Fiero's the entire way home. She is completely in love w/ Rick and his GT ( Watch out Jen ) but she sure did a whole lot of talking about everybody else’s Fiero.
I didn’t end up getting a lot of pictures, I was really behind in this department this year, but I did happen to snap a few and here's what I have. I hope that some others can fill in the blanks where I was missing – I was too busy hitting those corners and listing to that blower back there sing though the twisties. What a blast…
And this is what we saw pretty much the entire trip:
