I feel you still do not understand the importance or even the function of wearing a mask. I am not one bit surprised that neither you nor the other family member got it, as your wife did what she was supposed to..by your own account, she stayed away from you 2 as much as possiblke and you stayed away from her.
Masks have, for over a century, been worn by nurses and docttors and especially surgeons. This proven protocol is to help prevent the spread of disease between patients by those medical people. The surgeon does not wear the mask, gown, and gloves to protect himself ..he wears it to prevent HIM from transmitting pathogens TO the patient. The covid patient would either wear a mask to prevent them from spreading contagion to others, or isolate themselves from others. Others (including general public) even if asymptomatic, wear a mask to help prevent them from unknowingly spread the virus to others.
So if everyone that is sick right at this moment would just stay home, the rest of us can go about our bussiness as usual.
If everyone that is infected with the virus at this moment were to remain isolated for a long enough period of time (I guess that would be about two full weeks) for their body to clear itself of the virus--or if not that, then get worse and go into isolation at a hospital--that would (in theory) stop the spread of the virus to people that are not already infected at this moment.
But that cannot be mapped onto a statement (like the previous message) of "If everyone that is sick right at this moment would just stay home (and self-isolate) ..."
Asymptomatic transmission. People who have the virus but don't know that they have the virus, because they are not experiencing any symptoms, or think that the relatively minor symptoms that they are experiencing are just a common cold, or part of the now upon us as we move into November seasonal influenza. People with symptoms that may become more severe for a person as the Covid disease builds up inside them, but in the meantime, they are still going out because right now they are feeling OK or mostly OK.
These people will infect other people with the Covid virus, to the extent that they mingle socially or "work'ially" without adherence to the Anthony Fauci-endorsed (Zeke Emanuel-endorsed; Vin Gupta-endorsed; Jerome Adams-endorsed; Robert Redfield-endorsed; etc.) social distancing and masking recommendations.

Listen, i'm the last person to defend the way in which you process information or the methods you use, or the incredible length of time it takes you to process afore-mentioned information. But as a humanitarian, and more importantly, as just your average concerned citizen, i just gotta' ask....are you retarded?
No offense, really. I'm just asking.
Believe me, it's not the "incredible handicap" everyone pretends is "normal".

Research and tracing data has indicated that 1 in 5 Covid cases are completely asymptomatic.

20% of Coronavirus Infections Are Asymptomatic but Still Contagious
Well... he's not my cousin. But Dr Vin Gupta spoke about the differences between Canada and the U.S. tonight (Thursday, October 29) on MSNBC's 11th Hour with Brian Williams. The difference, in terms of the two nation's posture, vis-a-vis Covid-19.
Dr Gupta says Canada has positioned itself much more advantageously than the U.S., in terms of the bilateral Humans and Coronavirus infections relationship.Spoiler Alert
Comparing a nation of 37 million vs a nation of 331million as well as a population density disparity of 3.8 persons/sq Km vs 33.8 persons/sq Km is not any kind of scientific comparison.
The 10 most populous cities (27 million cumulative population) in the US fast approaches equaling the entire population of the nation they are being compared against.
It's akin to trying to compare Sweden's covid protocols vs those of the US. Apples to oranges in both comparisons.
Back on the OP from Willie regarding grocery workers. This in today's newscycle says grocery workers' infection rates back in May was around 20% which was very high compared to the general public. Also stated they were probably 'superspreaders' at the time ..................undoubtedly because so few of the general public wore masks.
(it IS a relatively small study tho, evidently, using 104 workers from a single store)

I don't understand why comparing methods (and results) of COVID-19 control between metropolitan areas in the two countries with the same population density wouldn't be valid.

It's not just a matter of population or population density. It's also about mobility. Which country has more high density metro areas? Which nation has more daily travel between those high population metro areas?

Adhering strictly to that criteria, China and India should both be completely wiped out.
All criteria has to be taken into almost any scientific consideration. I do not know how much travel has been curtailed this year, but in a normal year, 14 million people/year travel back and forth between Texas' 2 biggest metro areas...auto-airline-train travel. Houston and Dallas/Ft Worth.
Texas is probably not the best demographic to use as a comparison tho.
According to data from the US Census Bureau, a total of 10 US cities have a population that has surpassed the 1 million milestone. Of these 10 cities, California and Texas account for 60%, with each being home to three cities each that have a population of over 1 million. Texas also has the distinction of having the largest number of the fastest-growing cities with a total of six out of the top 13. Also, half of the top ten cities with the largest population gains were located in Texas, although the city that gained the most new residents throughout 2013 and 2014 was New York City, which is also the most populous city in the country. Aside from Houston, a number of other cities in Texas are highly populous. Dallas and San Antonio each have populations of more than a million, while Fort Worth, Austin, and El Paso each have well over 500,000 residents. Fort Worth also had the highest growth rate of the cities in Texas at 2.34%."
Are you referring to a past President campaigning for someone else who is currently running for the position? If it was for someone from an opposing political party, I could certainly see some eyebrows being raised... but honestly, what Barack Obama is doing doesn't seem unusual IMO at all.
Limits on how much toilet paper, paper towels, and cleaning supplies shoppers can purchase are returning to grocery stores as coronavirus cases surge. Kroger, H-E-B, and Giant are among the grocery chains to impose new limitations in recent weeks. Coronavirus cases are on the rise across the US, as colder weather drives people inside.
So it would seem that grocery workers are infected at a rate far below that of the general population. I will guess that the median age of grocery workers is somewhat below that of the general population, so that would account for some of the disparity, but not enough. If the safety protocol is the major contributing factor, that should shed some light on our predicament. Almost everyone goes to the grocery store.
Just pondering....
Oh, and thank you for your help!

Supermarkets have been hit hard by the unprecedented explosion of the coronavirus in Los Angeles County, further straining an essential service that needs to remain open despite the new stay-at-home order.
Outbreaks are increasing at an alarming rate across industries, officials say — an unavoidable consequence of so many people falling sick in the region. But those at grocery stores and other essential retailers pose a unique challenge for officials attempting to reduce coronavirus transmission, as well as for county residents trying to pare down their activities to only what is necessary.
L.A. County is investigating ongoing coronavirus outbreaks at 490 businesses, compared with 173 a month ago, according to county data. The increase in outbreaks drives home officials’ warnings that the only way to stay safe is to stay home, even as many businesses remain open.
Vaccine dashboards. Most states have their own dashboard either up and running or will have soon. John Hopkins will be updating their website soon (if not already) to include the number of vaccinations that have been administrated.

This is kind of interesting. Canada has reserved more doses of vaccine per capita than any other country on the planet. Geez, I hope we at least got a good deal.

Canada has a relatively very small population. California has more people than Canada.
