I never lurked at all. I signed up at the start of PFF, and except for a couple of breaks from O/T when it seemed like practically every thread was being polluted by political comment (prior to the creation of P&R), I've been posting here and in the tech sub-sections ever since.
I have been remiss and even negligent in my posting duties here at PFF lately. I shall endeavor to do better in the future.......how ever long that may be.
Did you ever swing upon a star? Carry moonbeams home in a jar? and be better off than you are.....

I post here once in a while. But it seems like a lot of threads die for lack of interest. (Still waiting for my wife to get some more spam texts to troll.)
I still look at the Farcebook Fiero groups, but not for anything necessary, or useful. It's mostly a wasteland.
Farcebook is a huge time suck, but honest to goodness, I have discovered that when I use two different browsers, and Farcebook is on my not-default browser, I look at it a lot less. (Long story as to why I have it set up that way - has do do with how the page is presented on my screen - but it works.)

I lurked many years before signing up here, I must admit. And barely post.
Nice to hear from you. A lot of the peeps here are 20 plus years or more here. There used to be a lot more opportunity to post. It's like sap in January these day.
You mised a lot of personalities and history here. Being digital you can read the old threads though. They were entertaining.
------------------ Logic doesn't mean correct or right. For example: Punching someone in the face until they no longer think the way they did before is effectively changing their mind in a statistically positive way.
Ah, the "good" old days. Jeff (stimpy) had a rather abrasive personality (to put it mildly).. but damn, he was funny at times!
I actually stumbled across him on Farcebook, a couple of months ago, and messaged him. He was kind enough to answer me, but came right out and said that he has cut contact with all Fiero people. I have to believe that that includes all those who used to be his friends. Whatever works for him, I suppose. I would hate to think that I would ever paint with that broad of a brush, though. (Although I'm sure that some would accuse me of just that. )

Did he have any here? I guess he had his "followers". These would've been the people that he hadn't yet applied his razor-sharp cutting wit. But hey, I can now laugh off his tirades directed at me all those years ago. It toughened me up, and makes the jabs in P&R the last while seem rather lame in comparison.

Well you never knew Jeff personally so what you call razor sharp I call vulgar and cries for attention. I always had pity for him and often would feel bad after I'd get on him. Having my own issues ,restrain wasn't a tool used often.
Speaking of the mentally ill... Jazzman, Neptune and 84 Bill are definitely missed.

I never met Jeff in person (as you would've)... but I do have some insight into his personality, not only through his posts in this forum (and others), but also through quite a few emails exchanged between him and I from 2000-2006. Jeff was an intelligent guy... but he also had issues, and was prone to lashing out. His posts could certainly be entertaining, as long as they weren't directed at someone here I liked (or me).

There's definitely a generational thing I see here...
When I joined Pennocks (this is actually my second account), it was probably closer to 1999 as well. But I was like... 19, 20... something like that, and yeah, MySpace existed, but it wasn't really my thing. Message boards were what you did... and everyone went to them. Either that, or AOL Instant Messenger, or mIRC if you were a dork like me.
But the people today who are the age I was when I started (19/20, etc.)... they only post in the tech area because they need help. There's been a lot of younger people now as Fieros have been passed down or as people die off and they show up for sale and stuff... which is sad, but it's what it is.
It seems the only younger people that hang around, usually are engineers or engineering-centric. You don't get the usual DIYer hanging out in the O/T and General Fiero anymore. Most people have moved to things like X or Reddit or Facebook.
But also... an issue with all car message boards... there's a declining number of Fieros as they get crushed and wrecked. So there are fewer new people coming to these anyway. Which is also sad... it's just the natural progression of things.

I think a lot of it has to do with the age/rarity of the car. And the fans of that particular vehicle. I am a member of a couple of Wrangler forums and a 5th gen ("new body style") Ram forum. All of them are quite active. But the demographics cover all ages, too. There are also tons of Jeep Farcebook groups, but - as usual - they are not as useful as the forums - and tend to be spam/scam magnets.
Conversely, I am also a member of the "FRS/BRZ" forum (my object of automotive lust, a few years back), and one or two G6 forums. All of those are mostly pushing up daisies. While there are some fans, none of them have the followers that Jeeps and Ram pickups do.
