Fix your cookies, baby!

I'll buy it for 200% of your original purchase price.
(But only if you act NOW!)

Thanks for the cookies tip. I put batteries in it and got nothing. Gotta be something easy. It looks like it has never been used. Might just be the best souvenir from Radio Shack.

Likely means RS is going to be MORE Cell phone and tablet store, maybe TV, and LESS for projects, audio, etc.

Maybe partly result of RS share price... $2-3.00 for most of last 18 months.
The cost for this is not cheap... Will likely close more stores too.
The Long-Term Costs of the RadioShack Super Bowl Ad 24/7 Wall St.

I've been working with RadioShack since 1999, seen many changes. I am a store manager, in a mid sized store. The new CEO has been making changes that are really good for the company. The stores will continue to carry the project parts and audio. There is a large push towards "DIY" products. You mentioned Cell phone and tablets, yes, those are in demand products, of course they will continue too carry those. Most of you would be very surprised how little mark up is on the phones & tablets, some are almost at cost. That is why the salesperson will the offer cases and other items. If I sold a pack of batteries vs a tablet, the batteries would make more of a profit.

There are some exciting services that some of our stores will be offering, I can not say what it is yet, but no other retailer is offering it. When it's made public I can give more details.

Yes, some stores will close, shutting down stores not making a profit is a good thing for any company. Usually the location have alot to do with it, some shopping centers have "died" over the years with other retailers leaving, in those cases, it makes sense.

I hope it's something really cool. I read an article about the stores closing, today. (Don't know if it's the same one that's linked.)
Most everyone was complaining that the hobbyist has been forgotten. Saying that parts can be had cheaper online, even after shipping.
I hope Radio Shack can reverse that. I like being ale to have parts that I need "right now", instead of 3-4 days later. And that's assuming that they're even available. I had to go to an industrial parts house, downtown, to buy IC sockets.

That sure makes building hip joints in the garage a slow process. And the dog needs one now.

What's the last chunk of change dropped at radioshack on my behalf? Xmods rc cars. As a adult I have gone to radio shack but haven't found much worth spending money on, a month ago I needed a dash mount for my cell phone last minute before vacation. They had one and it was overpriced. Luckily for them, even Wal-Mart in my area had nothing.

Last time I went to Radio Shack I either purchased a couple packs of resistors (for the V8 tach mod) or a 3 volt camera battery for one of my wife's training collars. Errr... one of my wife's dog's training collars.

Radio Shack quit selling hobby kits & hobby items because (in general) American kids quit doing hobbies.

I can't even think of the last time I spent money in the store, because they have not carried anything that I've needed, in a very very long time.

Went there last summer. needed a 3/32 to 1/8 phono adapter for the car.. Guy at the store "do you need a power adapter for an iphone?"

They still have some drawers of resistors and chips.. breadboards and even some perf-boards.. not much, but i was impressed they had anything at all.

The Shack does have (or did have) the large diodes that go on the Fiero wiper board.

edit: My wife recently purchased one of those universal blue tooth keyboard/notebook holder for her Samsung Tab S at RS.
Samsung is sold out of the $149 keyboard she wanted and can not even predict when it will be available.
The universal one at RS was under $15 and in stock.

My local RS store, didnt even have soldering irons...so forget project stuff. I had to go to 3 of them to find a pocket AM/FM radio to take to the race track. None had a AM/FM car radio antenna.
