I have been meaning to post this for some time now but for some reason never seemed to get around to it................

My '86 GT originally came with manual mirrors. Some years ago I purchased a set of electric remote control mirrors off of eBay for the GT. The kit that I purchased was for a Fiero and came with the wiring harness, mirrors and control switch. The removal of the old mirrors and install of the new/used electric remote mirrors was really easy and simple. The install only took a couple of hours. Once the mirrors were installed, now what does one do with the driver side manual mirror adjust boss that has this gapping hole?

About a year and half after the install I was at the local Pull-A-Part retrieving parts for a friend when I ran across a 90ish Grand Am with electric remote mirrors. The control switch on these cars I reasoned would fit the manual remote mirror boss on the Fiero. Long story, short.......... I was finally able to locate wiring diagrams for the Grand Am electric remote control mirror switch. With the wiring diagram in hand for the Grand Am mirror switch I went about to build a new wiring harness to install in the GT.

The stock Fiero remote mirror switch:

The Grand Am remote mirror switch:

Gram Am remote mirror control switch installed on the GT:

The wiring diagram for the install:

I hope you will find this information useful if you are considering changing our your existing manual control mirrors for electric remote control units.

Yes, turn the switch to the left to control the driver side mirror, then push the switch up /down or left/ right to control mirror movement. Turning the switch to the right is for the passenger side mirror.
