I spent many hours last night taking out each headlight motor and swapping the gears on the inside ( http://www.fierostore.com/P...px?s=88221&d=273&p=1 ), as they were not functioning properly. The headlights go up fantastically and all seemed well. However, when I went out to my car earlier to leave, I tried the headlights again and they went up fine, but would not come down. When turned off, it didn't even sound like the motors turned on to wind them down. I had to crank them both down manually.
If your car has the early headlight system like my 85 check the wiring harness at the headlight relays, one of mine had a loose connection that caused the problem you are having.
The connections on any older car have corrosion or a coating that prevents a great connection & when you work on the headlites,, connections are moved, creating bad connection.. first clean the relay connections, even if you have found the problem,,also clean the dash headlamp switch cleaning the switch will give you a good connection & prevent future problems eyeball the connections closely as you work to prevent future problems the white wire makes it go up the yellow wire make it go down as OGRE says also check the tail lite fuse first so your dash lites ever flicke,or go out r?? make a female cleaning file by Gluing a piece of light grit sandpaper to some thin flat plastic or thin wood ,cut to needed size,,you can use this home made file to remove corrosion from the female fittings ,Im excited just thinking about female fittings.. there is a wealth of information in pennock 'search' at the right top of the page, when you are comfotable using search almost every subject Fiero is at your fingertips with a better explanation than the manual cleaning the dash headlamp switch just gives a good connection you need for full power

Thanks for taking the time to reply. This is good advice, however the function of the switch and the motors was working properly and then after I did some work, it suddenly stopped. I'm going to follow the lead that it is the tail light fuse that was messed with first. If that doesn't work out, I'll let you know.
