so i picked up my 85 2m4 for 150 yesterday. 4cyl. 4spd. garbage interior. the main harness plug is melted and am replacing it. here is a list of things i need help with.

1. the driver seat is shot. foam and all. i want to redo them myself with a good dark black cloth. i also want to keep the speakers in the head rest. but with new ones of course. does anyone sell a kit with foam and cloths so i can do it myself? locale shops are all telling me 800+!!!!!!!!!!! not on a $150 car.
1b...Found a set of seats!

2. i am wanting more power. i thought of a 3.4 swap. but found an old tread about using a mercruiser marine 3.0 140hp marine motor as is same motor block and will bolt in. then found out that the mercruiser marine 3.7 is the same motor but with v8 pistons and made from aluminum. ranging from 170-195 hp. i like the idea because marine motors are made to stay at hi rpm like 4k for long periods of time. if i did that i would find a edelbrock 2.5 intake and header and use a tbi on it. so has anyone done this type of motor in there car?
2b...I will be doing a 3.4 swap

3. i need a set of fi-air-o scoops so i can do a custom dual intake. i am not paying 400+ for a set.

4. i want to instal custom led tail lights and am looking for a flat panal to replace the tail lights. one piece panel. is is not a fast back.

5. i want a nicer rear bumper. any ideas for a easy swap?

PLEASE IF YOU REPLY TO THIS THREAD START YOUR REPLY WITH THE NUMBER OF THE QUESTION YOU ARE ANSWERING. pleasepleaseplease! thank you. and if anyone else has question or advice just ask. this will be my build and idea thread for this entire car! but pics and post about mod ideas are welcome and wanted. ty and pics will be posted of every step of work i do

Thinking a different factory Fiero rear bumper would be easiest.

It does not bolt in, the block is nowhere near the same. The bellhousing face of the 3.0 Mercruiser is the same as the small block Chevy.

You're even farther off the mark now. The 3.7 is a Ford-based design.

Even if you get past the obvious logistical hurdles of the different bellhousing and not having a place for the OEM front engine mount to bolt on, you won't be putting a 2.5 intake or exhaust on it- the marine 3.0 is not a cross-flow cylinder head design and none of those parts fit.

Mr Mikes seats are very high quality and you're guaranteed to be happy with them...but you will pay quite a bit for them. Given the other (expensive) mods you are talking about, I think it is the best option for you since you seem to be doing a full upgrade. No point skimping on interior appearance.

If you really want to save money on the seats, you could try the junkyards or pick n pulls....maybe you'll get lucky.

You need to get an 84 factory service manual and find a rear harness from an 84. the wiring for 84s are unique and the other years don't interchange. The location of the C500 connector is also unique to the 84, the other years have it close to the battery.

You are way too far ahead of yourself.

Step one: Repair the car as is and work out the bugs, if you can do this then your ready to move on. We are here to help.

Step two: Check and make sure you have step one done, if not pretend step two doesn't exist and don't try to go on to three.

Step three: Watch the mall, ebay and craigslist and post WTB adds with what your willing to pay, don't expect us to find it for you.

1. Summit Racing has seats and brackets. They're not Fiero and don't have speakers, but they look like decent replacements. Speakers can be found at TFS and on ebay, Mr. Mike's web site explains how to replace or retrofit them.

2. 3800 SC. Phondawgz wiring harness.

4. There is a long saga of a thread about a guy who designed a nice panel for the Vette lights, then died. People have tried and tried to get someone to use his molds, etc., but calls are not returned and so on.
