Oh ! Rabid ! The zombie dupe, struggling to be rational.
How he must struggle, suffering as the majority of his American countrymen have rejected the Dempartie_Nazi_Hamas_Communists,
the Counter Constitutional Bolsheviks, treasonous zombies,
demons from hail, orcs, soon to be utterly destroyed.
Has to be that way, can't afford the cost, the price too high.
Self deportation to say like, Venezuela, or, Cuba, escaping the American Constitutional Republic to communist nations more aligned with his indoctrination.
' Si, I can hum a tune on a skin flute, comrades ! '
' Well, get on it ! American dog ! '

Well, it's kind of like Christmas. If Santa doesn't know what one wants the likelihood of getting it drops dramatically...........................

I LOL'd

This has been discussed many times before but sure, let's discuss it again. I could (probably) quite easily implement something where you don't see certain people's post. But what about if their posts are quoted? Do you want those quotes to be invisible too? Or should the entire post of the person quoting the person you ignored be ignored? And would the thread still make sense? And I'm pretty sure the next question will be if I could implement something to temporarily ignore the ignore function because threads wouldn't make sense.

Long story short, you are fully capable of ignoring people yourself. Just skip over their posts. It's that easy.

I truly suspect that if someone is ignored by one person, they will be ignored (as opposed to quoted) by many others.
I still think it could be viable for this - and only this - section, since it's already kind of a cluster-fest anyway. Of course, the option to "un-ignore" someone could be allowed. Farcebook even allows that, but once you un-ignore (actually "unblock") someone, you can't block them again for a certain period of time. I think it's 24 hours, but I haven't tried to do it, so, I can't speak to that.

But thanks for popping in and commenting. As always, it's appreciated. Even though it may not seem like it, at times.

The 'ignore' button is a form of censorship.

We shouldn't censor people because of what they say, or write.

Explain your logic. Are you suggesting that if I ignore someone, everyone will ? How would I know you ignored someone ?

Merely a Thought

We're discussing through a public forum, and I too have developed a 'low tolerance' for {fill-the-blank}

However, as our leader already said:

quote
Long story short, you are fully capable of ignoring people yourself. Just skip over their posts. It's that easy.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

To me, I learned early on as a young man that my brain is wired 'different' than the masses as my 'filter' only sees logic and reason.

Unfortunately, I saw that many people react emotionally and on public forums; they often don’t have writing skills or critical thinking, and facts doesn’t matter.

SO, as the behavior on a public forum is unlikely to change, I grew a "thicker skin" for my mental health and intentionally skip or ignore some posts or threads...

"It's that easy!"

One unintended consequence of implementing an ignore feature would be that it would work counter to the user rating/ban system. If there is someone being a jerk on the forum then a lot of people will ignore them and stop seeing the posts. Said bad poster will likely get an initial negative but after that no more ratings because their posts are invisible. What will end up happening is older members will have the bad poster on ignore and it will be the newer members who's initial impression of the site will include the bad poster. The bad poster will be able to hang around a lot longer since the fast ban function will be effectively broken.

Most likely a very valid point. But, my posting asking about an "Ignore Function/Tab" was really just a reaction to one member's I already knew Cliff didn't intend to install that function. Although, I do believe that any "Old Timers" that would consider Ignoring another would also start off with a rating but that's just my opinion.

Admittedly, I'm obviously not with some when one looks at rating bars. I have my own negs and when I look at others (a member I believe to be a troll with the same repeated posts all of the time), it seems they also have their fans. The thing is, very few will ever change their opinions based on what's posted so, what the heck.
I stay on this forum because I have developed friendships with quite a few members, not because I enjoy arguing with anyone (unlike some appearances.)

Not at all. There are certain people, of little perceived credibility, that many others already ignore, on the regular. Well... except to point and laugh.

While I do understand and agree with Cliff on the ignore button, the only person affected by such a button would be the person clicking on that button. Doing so would not be censoring the post or poster from the masses, only to the individual who clicked on that button. Very similar to avoiding reviewing or reading some news magazine and choosing what articles to view/read. Anyone else wishing to read/view such articles are able to see and view it. The same as Cliff suggests to just ignore a posting.

There was hatred long before Trump, in fact Obama somewhat encouraged it, although indirectly, with the whole black lives matter movement.
