Damn... All you guys in FL stay safe. We've got people in Plant city. Hope they are gonna be okay. Haven't talked to them since before Helena.
My wife talked with the Plant City folks, a few ago. They're fine. Said they're staying put. They are of the opinion that they will be safe. I would tend to disagree, but whatcha gonna do?
2. Post the text of the funding bill that they voted against so that you can point to the specifics of why the Dems voted for it, and we can see what was in it that was the deciding factor for the Republicans.
For the love of Mike ray b, does every friggin thing with you have to be political? Get a grip.
The White House Press Secretary's statement yesterday. Then she stormed out of the briefing room.
A question is disinformation ? Ditz head also says the people on the ground who need the help, upon hearing 'misinformation', will not seek the relief Uncle Sugar is offering. In actuality, the people on the ground who need help have no electricity, nor cell service to hear anything.
The bill was actually a stop-gap government general funding bill in September, (before hurricane Helene hit), to forestall another government shutdown.
It was also before the Secretary of Homeland Security, Alejandro Mayorkas, confessed that a HUGE amount of his FEMA budget had been blown on illegal aliens in our country.
There is no indication that anyone voted against the bill solely because of FEMA funding.
Stop telling lies ray.

the effect of the vote was not to fund FEMA AND OTHERS

While I agree that it's distasteful to make the current moment about scoring political points on a car forum, I'd extend that across partisan lines. There are both Democrats and Republicans whose homes are being destroyed. Lets launch zingers at each other about it once we know everyone is alive, ya?

More Leftist dishonesty.
The spending bill passed with bipartisan support / votes and included approx. $20 BILLION in accelerated spending approval for FEMA from existing funds which they apparently immediately spent, or had previously committed to, illegal aliens and not American citizens in need of disaster relief.
Stop telling lies ray.

Still have power ...so far (6:59PM EDT) Looks like I'm dodging a bullet in "Trumpian style" here. (that's obvious bait for a certain forum lunatic)
Eye looks like it's making landfall approx. 70 miles south of me, (Bradenton, just south of Tampa Bay proper), and MILTON is a "compact" storm unlike Helene.
We WILL lose power sometime later this evening / tonight as the TS winds are already hitting.
Gennys ready. Food, water, fuel, batteries and ammo all stocked.
As prepared as we can be and hope to be ready to help others later tomorrow after the storm passes.

Would you like to wait till everyone is back to life as it was before disaster ?
People on a car forum vote. It's nut cutting time for the election. Look where Camala mouths off.
Democrats bring up gun control before bodies are even cold.
I am waiting for and ... looking forward to ...

By the way, I must have missed it, who did you agree with in this thread that this summer needs to bean over all discussion about climate change ?
Praying for the Florida residents this morning. Our company president is down there in Spring Hill with family. All OK, no power and damage minimum for them.
BTW....funding is for Federal EMERGENCY Management Agency.....not pork barrel political crap like illegal immigrant relocation.

My Ex wife house (im still paying on) didnt do so well Trees down in the back yard, pulled the powerline and pole off the back of the house. What a mess. Not much I can do on the other side of the states...
they were very lucky the cold front knocked it down just before land fall as the eyewall replacement cycle was happening that storm went from 180 to 80 with the gust dropping 220 to 100 quicker movement and hook south save the bay area with ebb surge [wind blows water out ] and it hit before the high tide
and the eyewall went egg shaped then broke in half and the bad part flew across the state much faster
I have a former coworker that retired in July and moved to Florida. We were working remotely since 2020 but our employer required that people return to the office twice a week. That and the California taxes (which he voted for) were too high so he immediately retired and moved to Florida. I believed he bought a house in the Tampa Bay area.
I am going to have to ask how he is doing after things settle down.

it could have killed a huge number
Milton was astonishing as it formed and was even more astonishing with the speed that it disintegrated.
Florida was fortunate, it could have been far worse.
Hey guys, everyone down here OK? I see you fared OK Randye, good to hear!
I just got power back about an hour ago. Lots of damage in my neighborhood. My garage flooded a couple of inches, but I took everything off the ground to make sure nothing important was on the ground.
I had a fair amount of damage along the backwall of my garage (detached 3-car). It tore all the soffits out, and ripped the flashing off the back edge of the roof. I live right across the street from a park, and two of the large live oak trees are down. Myself, and a couple of neighbors spent all morning and afternoon cleaning up all the debris and making piles. Kids are now playing soccer in the field. The large gazeebo in the park was damaged, but otherwise things seem OK.
I have some damage to the roof in the back of my house as well. It's on the second story, but I should be able to reach it just by standing on the first-story roof. I'm not getting up there today since I want to let it dry out... but going to try to tackle that tomorrow.
Otherwise... lots of mess to clean up, but nothing I can't fix. Some neighbors had it much worse than me.
Hope everyone else down there (Ray, Randye, etc... fared well)
