1G2PG1196JP206353 - 88 GT found at Pick n Pull, Virginia Beach - Oct 2024. Soon to be crushed
I pulled as much as I could, got the T-Tops, calipers, hubs, dot matrix trim, taillights, misc bits RIP 88 GT.
Why crush anything which would yield such a low amount of steel, ?
The nose, rear bumper, and fastback body sections look worth saving. I am forgetting what "gold" the wheel's spindles/brake calipers are worth. One year model only parts. Would they not sell the whole carcass to you ?
I do not remember giving you my 88's info. Let me look.
VIN: 1G2PE1198JP219479 Year: 1988 Type: Formula Mileage: 134,645 Exterior: Bright red, bad respray Wheels: Black diamond spoke, found with 14" coupe wheels Interior: Medium dark gray Seats: Gray cloth Options: A/C, Cruise, AM/FM cassette Engine: 2.8L V6 Transmission: Automatic Location: LKQ Pick Your Part - Blue Island, Illinois Condition: Junkyard Status: Entered yard 5/30/2025
Fiero Owners Club sticker in the rear window, looks like it was non-running for a while. Many parts stripped already.
LOL That one sneaked in without me noticing. I usually check their inventory every Friday.... But not this week since I would be at Wis. Dells instead. Hopefully you were able to get some parts from it!
Eight years have passed since I last posted in this thread Here... and still no publicly accessible database and/or website for 1988 Fieros.
What is the point of all this?
I have been in recent contact with the "88 database guy". He is alive and well - and getting gray-haired, as am I. He does occasionally check in, here. He hasn't had the time to jump in and contribute, or comment. Suffice it to say that "life happens". He's been a busy man. He does still have his Fieros, however. He mentioned that he might pop in, if he has a spare minute. But then, he might not.

Raydar, none of us are getting any younger! It would be nice to see all this info put to good use before we all kick off.

Apparently, John has been a "busy man" for the last 26 years!
Hey, I get it... no one's slower than I am. The difference is, I haven't been asking people for over a quarter century to supply info for a "database" that quite conceivably will never see the light of day.
The entitlement mentality of some people is just stupefying.
While I agree that it's been rather unfair of John Willhoff to have never made public the info he's been requesting/collecting from PFF members for the last 26 years, I think you're being a little hard on him.

You just hang on to that fantasy, if it works for you.
You just hang on to that fantasy, if it works for you.
The only "fantasy" is ever seeing this database made accessible to the hundreds of PFF members who were told, going back 26 freakin' years, that this would be the result of their generous input of data.
Maybe you have no problem with people being led astray, being told one thing and being delivered... being delivered nothing... but I don't like it. It needs to be addressed. And if you don't like that I don't like it, I guess that's just too bad.

Yeah. I was waiting for that. Lots of people got valuable information about their cars, based upon their input. It wasn't a one way street. And it's not like he was actually getting paid for compiling and researching all that data. But I would suggest you get the G-D stick out of your posterior orifice, and find another crusade. Frankly, I'm tired of hearing your incessant bleating. I've had a f'ing 'nough of you. Why don't you go to P&R and bash your political enemies some more.

Ah, now the truth comes out regarding what's actually on your mind. As long as your messiah is effin with the planet, I'll continue to speak up.
Yeah, with that in mind, I can see why you didn't like the following. Hit too close to home, didn't it? lol

Ah, now the truth comes out regarding what's actually on your mind.
Is that all you've got? Nice try.
Actually... what's on my mind is you poor-mouthing a friend of mine (have you even got any of those?) who has charged nothing for information that he has shared with many people. As I said, he has provided information - build dates, sequences, etc. - to many people about their cars, after they provided a VIN. And maybe a code from an ALDL sticker. (Anything else they provided was helpful, but certainly not "required".) Compiling all that information took hours of his free time. It's a labor of love, if anything. He's certainly not getting paid for his trouble. Jeebus. But seriously, he doesn't owe you - or anyone else, really - diddly squat. Get over yourself.
Your politics? Your opinion, and $2, will maybe get me a cup of coffee at the Waffle House. I just "invited" you to take your vitriol somewhere more appropriate. Like P&R. It's not welcome here.

Since when are you the PFF moderator/spokesperson? I asked a simple question, not addressed to you. Maybe John Willhoff would like to weigh in personally with a response.

That was 21 years ago... and we're still waiting. Seems to me that over the last couple of decades, forum members have been asked to submit information under false pretenses. Please John... prove me wrong!
Patrick... you're calling out someone who didn't even start the thread. Life happens. Some people have families and kids. And travel for work. And have other responsibilities, other than a hobby car. John used to be a regular at our club meetings, and quit doing that about the time he fell off the forum. If you don't want to supply any more information, then don't! Is it any skin off your back? People can add info as they see fit. Or not. Is that any of your business?
Look... I DGAF about your politics. Inconsequential to me. When you start dogging out my friends, it's a different story. You're wrong. And I won't stop.

As much as I'd like to see the information released to the public, it is John's creation and property. He was paid by no one to create this database, so I guess if he doesn't want to release it, he doesn't need to.
For about 10 years now, I've been trying to collect as much info on the 88 production run as possible, with the hope that someday we would have info on enough cars to make reasonably sound predictions as to production options. This info may exist somewhere or it may not, but either way, I think there is value to documenting info when it's available for posterity. Someday it may all be important, but even if it isn't (say, because the actual production build sheets for each car were saved somewhere), at least we're building a database on cars that have been scrapped or parted out. Along the way, I've meet many wonderful people who have helped me out tremendously, and to one and all, I offer my Heart Felt Thanks!
For those who might have an 88, know someone who does, or might see one in a junkyard, I'd appreciate any help you can give me in documenting the cars. Basically, I collect info on factory color options (Exterior, Interior, and Rims (GTs and Formulas (I know, Formulas should all have black rims from the factory, but do they?)), the roof type and the tranny type. Any other info is also welcome, but even if all you have is a vin number and the fact that the car is intact, that's a good starting point for the future. Any info is better than having a blank record for a car. For those that might have the center console removed, there is a sticker on the ALDL connector (unless the glue has let loose!) which has a date code and shift number on it. I also collect this info when possible, but do not believe it's tied to car production weeks anymore. Still, having the info is better than not, and maybe someday we'll be able to use it to our advantage.
People have offered to help with a website, and I do appreciate it, but intend to get one up soon. I have made that promise before, but now it's definately time to do it. Stand by on that one.
Thanks to all for reading this and your continued help.

Again, that was from 16 years ago.

Uh huh... that's no doubt why out of the blue, you felt the need to post the following...
So this page was reported to me, specifically to look at these last few posts.
Honestly, I get why Patrick's asking questions. When a project collects data from the community and says it'll be shared "soon" (for decades) people are naturally going to wonder what's going on. That's really not entitlement, that's a fair question.
That said, I also get where Raydar is coming from. This has always been volunteer-driven, and real life has a habit of getting in the way. I know - I've been there. So really, nobody's under contract to deliver anything here. But repeated promises, even if well-intended, build expectations. It's not surprising people are getting frustrated now.
So here's what I can do:
If 88 Database Guy still has the data and is okay sharing it, I'll happily host it on PFF - even if it's raw, like just a CSV.
If there are privacy concerns, I can strip out the data in question.
If it's messy, I can probably help clean it up. I mean, it doesn't have to be perfect.
So from here on, lets keep the tone respectful. No one's on trial. The goal is simple: make the info accessible. If the data is still out there, I can give it a home.

Thanks Cliff, I appreciate that you can look at this situation in an unbiased fashion. I certainly wasn't attacking anyone. I simply wished for some clarification on the goal of this long-term, member supplied, data collection.
