What do you think......Remember it's a prototype.

86soon3.4 and jetsnvettes2000, you may want to consider using for your upcoming product the name that Raydar thought he recalled: "Muffler Eliminator." Unlike the "Y-pipe" that it's been called by some, the "Muffler Eliminator" name seems a potentially less confusing, yet succinct and more explanatory descriptor of the purpose of the Y-pipe product you two plan to be working on --- especially since stock V6s Fieros already have an exhaust Y-pipe that serves a very different purpose than will your "Muffler Eliminator" when you eventually begin to produce it, right?
The exhaust pipe system that you mention from IRM is exactly the one I had. I did not post that, because IRM (as far as I know) is no longer around, and I didnt want to send people on a wild goose chase to find that company. I also have "the big fiero parts book" that you reference too.... SO, I guess if people really want this type of exhaust system, it might be easier to find someone who has the complete IRM system? Or yes, go to an exhaust shop, and save yourself the headache of trying to make sure everything's straight in the end.

If anyone gets one of these pipes. A great tip combo would be some hooker glass packed tips. I came across this setup yesterday in a junkyard. Paid $20 for it with the tips.....just finished putting it on.....well all I can say is.....WOW loud as hell but nice.

Like Raydar, I had muffler eliminator pipes on my first 85 back in the mid 90's. It had the converter still in place. The tips had burned or rusted through so I replaced them with Monza resonator dual tips which incorporated a bit of muffling. The exhaust was loud and could be heard inside the car, even with the windows up. When running along with another vehicle with a good exhaust tone, the harmonics would cause the sound to waver up and down. My daughter said she that when I left the house, she could hear me almost a mile away until I turned onto the main highway. It did have a nice sound, though.
