Yeah. Right. No problem. For a supplemental budget we would first need a budget. Damn dumbocrats. They couldn't even pass a budget for the last five years (Nobama era). They were forced to by the repugs, finally. Then we have that whole Constitutional Powers thing. The President is the Commander in Chief. He tells the troops to go, they go. Congress has to support them or not. The dumbocrats approved to support Bush's troops before they went. They didn't seem to care how it would be paid for.
I heard the SECAF has spoken about possibly scaling back the RIF, could be the same across all branches? Either way folks are finding out everyday that they are on borrowed time. Like it matters anyway, seems like most of the posters here think we are fighting over oil, yeah who cares about the Islam extremists who want death and destruction towards western culture. I can't believe how dense people can be.

A good friend of mine just informed me that after the rack and stack, he is at the bottom of the stack. Most likely will be RIF'd following the retention board this summer.

I have seen you guys use this term. What is RIF ? Reduction in forces ? How does that work ? You show up for work and get a pink slip ? I am thinking military service persons are not eligible for unemployment insurance, .

Correct, reduction in forces. Its almost as volatile as receiving a pink slip, although most who find out about a DOS rollback have as little as a week to GTFO. For most of us who spent most of their careers as civilians can cope with that much easier than someone who has essentially been institutionalized since high school. Basically for the bulk of the RIF, civilians will decide who to retain, aka The Retention Board.

Unemployment Compensation for Ex-servicemembers (UCX) The UCX Program provides unemployment insurance protection to ex-servicemembers of all ranks who served in the Armed Forces of the United States and who meet the following eligibility criteria: You were on active duty with a branch of the U.S. military. You may be entitled to benefits based on that service. You must have been separated under honorable conditions. There is no payroll deduction from your wages for unemployment insurance protection. Benefits are paid for by the various branches of the military. Your state employment office handles unemployment compensation. Benefits vary from state to state. Only the office where you apply will be able to tell you the amount and duration of your entitlement. Your nearest state unemployment office can be found in your local telephone directory. To receive unemployment compensation, you must apply.
To apply, you must bring your Certificate of Release or Discharge from Active Duty (DD Form 214), your social security card, and your military and/or civilian job history or resume.
