My only question about the focus is this: Since I have never really been in to the "hot hatch" scene, are there better or more sporty options available in my price range?
Chevy Sonic. The Focus doesn't come with a turbo . That, and **** Fords.

Seriously?? The focus is a much better car that that pile from GM. I have spent alot of time with both cars. The SVT has a cosworth engine and a BMW built trans. The sonic is a pile made by GM. Yea, there are others but I cant think of anything poff the top of my head. I know I loved and miss mine. I traded it for a Mk3 supra. But the SVT is a very nice car for 3 or 4 grand I imagine they sell for now. Plus where is he gonna pick up a sonic for the 4 grand its worth??

Derp derp derp....my bar just got redder. Only like 2 more and I'm banned!
The SVT, along with all other Fords, are pieces of **** . Cosworth isn't worthy of holding my **** much less building an engine.
I got my Sonic for less than that, on a down payment. First new car I've owned. Better than buying some pos that's been ragged on by assholes like you. Its worlds better than any of the trash Ford and Chrysler are producing. Did your SVT get 38-40 mpg mixed? Turbo to spool, fast and fun to drive? No, so STFU when real men are talking.
The SVT drives like an 80's Escort. I've driven one. So **** off, you have a very ignorant taste in cars and haven't driven anything even decent to know what you're talking about. Go climb back into the dank disease-ridden hole you crawled out of 20 years ago.
Wow that was a seriously uncalled for personal attack. Can we please stay on the topic, and not get my thread trashed for a juvenile p*ssing match. Seriously.

Seriously dude?? You havent got a clue what cars I have and have not owned. When my pile of garbage 2011 camaro was in the shop for a month I had a sonic just like yours. You call you self a real man talking like that and driving a sonic?? Lmmfao. Nice try. Either you havent driven a 80's escort or you havent driven a SVT. The SVT was the best handling cars during its time at its price, and cars more expensive. Your sonic is better than a what??? Oh thats right, a neon. The guy wants something fun to drive in his price range. A sonic fits no part of that. And the focus was alot faster and netted 34 mpg.
If a SVT will fit you man, there are many out there in OEM condition, many with under 40k miles. Most wherent ragged on and its a focus so insurance is cheap and the cops dont pay any attention.

In terms of what?? Comfort?? Power in 6th gear?? I had a 3dr but the 5dr rides a little better. The SVT has sporty suspension with heavy sway bars so the ride isnt amazing but its nice and controlled. If you find a recaro car tye seats are simply amazing. Even the regular SVT seats are really nice though. It has more power than I expected in 6th gear but I would always go to 4th if passing on a 2 lane road just to majke the pass sooner. Like I said I miss mine, well I did before I got my cooper. But for the money it would be hard to beat a SVTF. Go test drive one. It drives nothing like a regular focus. There are less than 15000 of them and ford can tell you how rare one is if you call with the VIN #.

Tired of assholes like him saying my car is a piece of **** , when it isn't. He obviously doesn't know how to drive.
turboguy, mark my words, you'll be banned within a week. And just so you know, I haven't driven a Focus, but I've driven a Mini Cooper. The Sonic handles better than a Mini Cooper. If you drove a Sonic and couldn't get that kind of handling like that, you don't know how to drive. Pointing it forward and going WOT isn't the only thing you can do, you redneck piece of **** .

I am currently in a technician training school, so all repairs and upkeep will be preformed by me.
I am going to be moving out of state, so I need something that drives on the highway well, with a reasonable amount of cargo space. I only plan on driving maybe 2-3 people, but need the capability fit at least 4-5.
I am currently seriously considering the F-250, Thunderbird, SVT Focus, and the Jeep. What say you?

For me, out of that group, it would definitely be the Focus SVT.

I almost bought a Focus SVT brand new back in 2003, but went with a Civic EX coupe instead (it was cheaper). I'm partial to small hatchbacks, so obviously I say buy the SVT but a nice 4th gen Trans-Am is nice too. It's amazing how cheap they are now (with low miles too!).
BTW.....there's a red 2-door SVT at a local dealer. Not sure what they are asking, but I can get more info on it if you'd like.

The current Sonic is a nice car for what it is... the lowest of the low end of economy cars. It is a huge leap up from the Aveo, and honestly, I think it is a nice competitor to the Fiesta.
Comparable to an SVT Focus it is not! The SVT Focus could have used a little more power, even in it's day, but it has a terrific chassis and is a fun drive regardless. I nearly bought one too back in the day, but just could not swing it. It was a cool drive, and I fell in love with the orange color, as the orange hatch reminded me so much of the orange Ford Fiesta my parents had when I was a toddler (I loved that car, as a todler, not because it was great or anything... but because it was a car)

Serious question here. Have you seen a psychologist or a psychiatrist? I know you were posting able how your father was controlling and unstable; I think maybe you should seek some professional help, at least get an evaluation.
I can't help with the car search, you post is very contradictory. t sounds though like money is a big deciding factor. Let me just rule out the F250. You won't be able to afford repairs for a diesel variant; and you will incur repairs buying one in that price range. The 5.4l F250 can hardly get out of it's own way. Buy an F150 instead, based upon your other choices payload is not a concern for your needs. I've bought half a dozen F1/250 in the last couple years, go with me on this one. Fuel economy in the gas F250 is worse than the diesel and all engine options available in the F150. It is worse by at least 2 MPG and averages 13-15. The same engine in an F150 can get over 20mpg highway.
