This reminds me of when the band Rage Against the Machine played a show across from wallstreet and they closed the exchange. I remember seeing new stories calling them "anti-family" and "pro terrorist" I laughed so hard.
In response to your post though, I can't begin to think of the repercussions if anonymous was able to hack wall street. Look at all the chaos they caused just by hacking Play Station Network.

I hear they don't even know why they are protesting. Something about 'after we meet we will decide on our single demand'. And protesting in front of a closed building? wth?
Its just yet another scam. Follow the money and the true answer will surface.

That's what bothers me. Either it will be a scattering of bored wacky folks (if you look at what they have planned - yoga, storytelling for the kids, etc), or someone or someones will use them to make trouble w/ the cops.

What I find strange is that this is not the usual Anonymous "M.O.", they are normally a group that does things electronically not publically in person. For people to show up representing Anonymous it would mean that they would need plenty of "members" to attend which isn't what they are about AFAIK.
Though I would like to see some on Wall Street being held accountable for their actions.

One of the protests a few months ago was for the Teacher's Union... and there were other groups which joined them which had their own agenda, nothing to do with the teachers...

Maybe would have been more effective if they prepared themselves a bit better beforehand - they don't seem to have a singular focus, or even one united 'demand'.
Still, it could get ugly if it lasts till Monday...

I think that is the point, make it last till Monday, get the police to attack start riots across the nation.
Interesting that there are an estimated 50,000 people in attendance here and there is no information from Fox or CNN. MSNBC just got on board though. AJ has been on it for a while:

Not sure just how many were there, hard to tell from the video last night.
So many people in the chat seem against what they are doing. That ticks me off a little. Those protesters might be the "wannabe hippies" of today, but I think a lot of them are just totally frustrated at the situation of the world, perhaps a bit ignorant, but legitimately frustrated. I don't think they are all lazy "want something for nothing" liberals or whatever they are callin' them, and I think those that mock them are Armchair A-holes. Admittedly, I'm not down there with them, I'm an armchair supporter. Adecae ago, I'd be down there. Things change when you have a family. (for ME, anyway) I admit that.
I wish them the best, and hope they are able to do something positive.

The media has, and will blast Anonymous until they look worse than a pile of dog crap burning on your front step. I think mainly because they fear the truth.
In the end Anonymous is peaceful, and just wants the cheats and liars to be ran out so that people can live freely. So far I have no problems with em at all.
If the demonstration is still going tomorrow, I'll try setting up a webcam looking down on the corner of WallStreet/Broadway.
Tho I do have problems with video since I'm on dialup, I think that would be pretty cool for the rest of us whether the "rage" thing is still going on or not. Before it got to such a pita, (traffic, construction, panhandlers, parking etc) I used to love to go deep downtown Houston and just watch.

Seriously? 50,000 protesting and camping on Wall Street and zero USA press? Russia Today and Al Jazeera are covering it, our press is noticeably lacking. Who has the motive and the power to keep this going to main stream news? Why would they do that? 50,000 people is enough to deal with, they don't want anyone seeing the news and joining Anonymous. Just the real question is, what exactly is Anonymous game?
According to their flier, they're one simple demand is free music downloads.
That must be all they want then. Makes sense to me.
It doesn't matter what I say, or put. The people that don't want to understand what Anonymous is trying to accomplish will just skew everything out of proportion.
Like the "one simple demand is free music downloads. " comment.
There is no real sense in trying to explain to people that don't care in the first place. I could tell you how Anonymous is made up of people from all walks of life, in many countries, and they just want the truth about what really happens behind the closed doors of big Government, and Big Business. Like I did earlier in this same thead. But, like I said, if you don't want to hear it, you don't listen.
I could go on about how they fight against things that cause suffering all over the world, go after people that abuse power. How they wish to keep people free, on all levels not just the freedom light that we have now.
Nope, all the people that don't care will see is a group of computer nerds standing on the street making a big joke. So it doesn't matter what I say about them. Probably for the free music.

Obviously Anon wants attention, and the government's self preservation interest would be to marginalize any demonstrations by rogue, arguably anti-government groups.
