Actually, I did get your point. And I agree, to some extent. But I couldn't resist making a wise-ass remark.
That's what I figured But for those "intellectually challenged" members here who tend to take things at face value, I figure I better respond to clarify
I don't hunt for sport anymore. Don't fish and I don't go out of my way to kill critters but bugs get squished. The only sport shooting I do is silhouettes.

And what TANGIBLE proof/evidence, pray tell, do you have of the existence of this thing you call a "soul"? Again, please don't give me the line about "Jesus/God/The Bible says it exists", since that is not TANGIBLE proof.
Please don't take this as a personal attack of you and your beliefs, since it is not meant to be. I am merely trying to make a point here.

I wont kill anything but I will squash a bug if its in my car or house. I cant even watch the nature shows that are on TV with all the killing that goes on there.
If we were in the wilderness together for some unforeseen reason, I guess you would have to depend on me for food. I wouldn't mind feeding you but if all I could kill on that day was a frog, then you would have to live on vegetation that you could scrounge up. I don't like killing anything, but I am a carnivore and so are you. You have been softened in modern society because you can go buy hamburger or fillet min-young and you didn't have to kill the animal. If you want to survive in tribulation,it that ever occurs, you better harden up and be ready to kill something so you can eat and survive. Let me ask you this...can you cut the head off a live fish? If not, your pretty wimpy.

I understand your desire to keep religion or meaning out of it. To keep it concrete. So you are looking for tangible proof that humans are "different", or "more" than animals?
A good example I found is this, though full of sarcasm that is not my usual style, it makes a point:
“No single, essential difference separates human beings from other animals.' So began a feature article on evolution in TIME magazine ('How Man Began'). The more I thought about this sweeping statement the more I began to warm to it.
For example, like humans, apes have well formed rational faculties. Their ability to develop an argument, follow a line of logic, draw conclusions and frame hypotheses is quite remarkable. Also like humans, apes have a marked faculty for language. (This, of course, is intertwined with their powers of reason.) Their vocabulary is enormous, their grammar complex, and their conversations deep and meaningful.
The apes' ability to codify language in writing is further proof of their close relationship to humans. In this respect, it was most gratifying to see the number of apes who wrote to TIME magazine in response to the article on 'How Man Began'. I was particularly interested to follow the line of reasoning of the orang-utan who argued that apes had evolved from humans, not vice versa. Like humans, apes also have a strong spirit of inquiry. Their research in the fields of astronomy, mathematics, medicine and physics is noteworthy.
Apes also (again, like humans) yearn for meaning in life. This is why they devote so much of their time to philosophy, theology and ethics. The religious sentiments and practices of all apes can be traced back to their intense and endless quest for meaning.
Apes are concerned about questions not only of origin but also of destiny. The best proof I can offer for this claim is the maxim by one famous ape philosopher who said, 'Whether my life leads ultimately to the dirt or to the Judgment, either way, I've got a problem.'
Apes also have, like humans, a refined aesthetic sense. They admire beauty and long to surround themselves with it. When an ape cultivates a garden, puts flowers in a vase, or hangs up a painting, what is it doing if not expressing a love of beauty?
Again like humans, apes have a strong creative impulse. This is seen in their poetry, painting, dance, drama and music. To a lesser extent their creativity is also evident in the way they gather in weekly craft groups to weave baskets, spin wool, knit shawls, and cover photo albums.
The sense of humour shared by all apes is another proof of their close kinship to humans. Their delight in the ridiculous and their love of a good laugh is plain from the popular ape jokes they tell. Reason, language, inquiry, wonder, longing, religion, morality, aesthetics, creativity, imagination, aspiration and humour ... such intangible but fundamental qualities are by no means unique to humans, as I hope I have conclusively shown. Therefore, in the profound words of TIME magazine: 'No single, essential difference separates human beings from other animals'.
-this next part references religion-
This being the case, Christians are plainly wrong to insist that humans and animals are different. And they are also obviously wrong to insist that this difference arises from the fact that God created us humans in His own likeness. And if they are wrong to insist that God made us in His own likeness, then they are wrong to insist that God has any claim on us.
Furthermore, if God has no claim on us, then we are free — free to be animals like our evolutionary ancestors — free to be as low-down as snakes, and to make pigs of ourselves, and to act like donkeys. “

Or free NOT to be like those other animals. It may be harder, and for some, having the fear that they will be punished if theiy don't behave might work, but I think it's even better when a person chooses to be 'good' because they CHOSE to be, regardless of anthing external to themselves...or fear of getting 'spanked by the hand of God'...
I just don't buy that because we are so much more 'high up' on the evolutionary scale that some invisible friend MADE that so, not do I believe that simply because we have the ability to conjure up said invisible friend, that he/she/it must exist, ESPECIALLY if someone wrote a book about that invisible friend.
But if fear makes some 'animals' behave, so be it. Wish those inspired by their diety in the past were a bit less violent towards those with differing opinions, but then again, tolerance for other faiths doesn't usually help THAT religion prosper...
..and this is all just more 'net throwing' , where all we end up with is ourselves again... with some more text saved on the interwebs...

For sure free not to , I think that paragraph had sarcasm in it too. Also it may be referencing people who deep down do believe, but chose to ignore it or use cognitive dissonance. The definition of good I suppose is another thing, the ten commandments alone are no easy task. I don't think it works the way you laid it out, after all people choose daily to do what they do, if someone did not want to be "good" for sure they would not take on Christianity. IMO You seem to shown interest in other threads in ghosts, demons, powers and such, yet don't believe in a "good side"?
If you can lift up your skirt push the pink frilly lacy panties aside & you still have a pair you are a man,, there is no test,,a few of you are not sure?? just feel down there .. if you suspect you are not a man !!you have a problem.take action to get a bit more masculine, less feminine. Take up a few manly sports even if you just watch(I luv to watch) Boxing of any sort if you wish you could see 2 girls fight,, you have no problem, Nothing makes you feel more like a man than killing !! NOTHING. the highest sport is to hunt men ,to have them hunt you & live,or to close with other men & kill each other, Even if you are a cuckold ,with a dominant lady you are subservient to, who makes you wear panties,& service her bulls, you are still a man as long as you have a pair, any further than this your just a queer..

I will say another thing about hunting (deer at least). It is not hunting, it's assassination. Guy hides in a deer stand. Which faces and has a line of sight to a feeder. Is high enough to diffuse his smell. Deer comes along and eats like it has been trained to do. BAM ! That is sport ?
