Having been a life guard as a kid I have to wonder if it is even worth it anymore. What do you do when a woman is in trouble and you have to do a cross chest carry? Do you tell her before you do it? Do you let her drown?

I was taught you take charge of the situation and don’t let yourself get into a situation where you have to go in the water. But if you must it is the Red Crosses way to do this.

But with all this politically correct BS why should you put yourself in a situation where you could be arrested or worse. Me now at 55 it would not be an issue, I would go in after anyone and worry about the consequences after. And that is how it should be.

You see someone in trouble you help. That is how I was brought up, but now you have to worry about these over the top nut jobs.

Steve

I dunno...between military and aviation, I recieved some pretty good 1st-responder/ 1st aid training which I would certainly use to help family or friends....but for a total stranger ? I doubt it--the risk of being accused of something or sued for something life-destroying is just too great. I have read of one in ontario where a guy in a beamer tried to help a woman who had run out of gas and went and got her a can of it, only to be falsley accused of sexual assult because she saw deep pockets.

I just dont trust most of humanity enough to help them anymore.

So you were a lifeguard who didn't go in the water?

That reminded me, the other day I saw my lil brother (20yrs old) who is in the Navy, and he was talking about signing up for the program to try to be in the Navy SEALs. Then he tells me the only thing he is concerned about is that he is not a very good swimmer.

btw awesome place for that picture Tony
