I thought from reading on here you flew helicopters?

You'd really think beating blades over your head would be something you would be very aware of.

Having seen that masterpiece, Doug, I am even more grateful for your compliment in my 'Wall' thread
I LOVE working with wood, but it has just become tooooo expensive here now. I have four 4x4 inch 12 ft lengths of English oak in my garage...but no boards to made anything good with
Really very very nice craftsmanship, I applaud your talent
Nick

Very nice, I never made anything that big but I made a few small boxes when I was in the service. I would make them out of left overs. Teak and Maple were my favorites, I did make a few pine boxes and some white oak but mostly we had a lot of mahogany left over. I never got use to the smell of mahogany, running a router for 4 hours a day will do that to you. We made a lot of plaques and the mahogany didn't warp as bad as oak when it got wet. The one time we had some black walnut in the shop and I got just enough to make a box out of it and some white maple. We lost it in our house fire or I would post some pictures, it was the only one I hung on to when I left the Navy. It was thick, none of her rings inside were damaged but it never was fully on fire. I miss working with wood but I cant take the smell of some of them, they make me sneeze.
