Just a little something for her birthday next week.

I made a Cedar Chest for a charity auction about 4 years ago and she's been hinting she wanted one ever since.

That is sweet as in super cool sweet. It's romantic sweet also, but I'm talkin about the skill. Nice job! If I could make something like that for my wife, I wouldn't have to beg for sex for a whole year.

Thats Amazing. The workmanship and Skill is astounding. I just have one question tho, Why is there one split board in the bottom of the lid, while all the other ones span the gap? Any particular reason, or is that just kind of how it turned out?

It's Cedar inlay and I ran out of the long boards. I put it in as the center board just for a 'pattern' .

Oh I would it get it off the hook. She'd have to use the chest to bury me in because I would be flat out exhausted. All that activity would kill me. Of course I don't have that type of skill with wood or in the bedroom so the point is moot. At least Doug will get to enjoy the next year.

Actually yesterday was my lucky day. Doug is so talented, upon showing my wife what he had made for his wife, even I got lucky.

She didn't, Doug. She was thinking, " Did I have clean clothes to wear to work tomorrow? Am I supposed to do or say something here?" Not just Jim's wife; that's what all of them are doing.

Dam nice job.

I built my wife a custom row boat and carved a set of oars for her but she turned out to be to uncoordinated to row facing forward! heh, epic fail.

That, is my wife when in a canoe. Not that she rows (paddles) backwards--and she just can't match strokes with me when I'm in the back seat. (that don't sound right). A snake couldn't follow her across a lake---zig zag--zig zag-zig zag.

See, I've always liked that look. Imperfect--in a perfect kind of way. I've never liked every board matching--each grain perfect. When they did my stairs and cieling, I told them NOT to use perfect boards--if there was a 'defect' --use it. It makes it look real as opposed to the manufactored laminate look where every board and grain is just perfect. A great looking piece Doug, that will last forever.
I can nail two 2x4s together--that's about it. No reward for me.

That's because you really built the boat for you, didn't you? Be honest. I bet your wife hates the water, and can't even swim.

One of my ex-girlfriends was about 6'6" in stiletto heels. I'm a hair over 5'7".

My mother said when we were out together and holding hands, she looked like she was walking her monkey!
