Now I'm really confused. Correct me if I'm wrong but wasn't the reason you didn't want a truck because you would be tempted to go off road? Or maybe it was your dad that had a problem with you having a pickup cause you'd be tempted to go off road. But, this really doesn't make sense when compared to the other posting I read about granny buying you something reliable. I really don't care and if you said that just so you wouldn't hurt somebody's feelings that suggested you get a pickup but, this really goes against what you said in the previous thread or where ever I read it. Personally, I think you want something different, cool, whatever and a pickup just didn't qualify for you. That's OK with me but, it's still confusing.
Ron
Well i was thinking it over and a big reason i was getting somthing new was because i wantes somthing that can be drivin through the seasons without having trouble on the snow. I have always liked the wranglers. My cousin had one and he loved it until the day he got rear ended in it. My neighbor swears his life by his old wrangler and by his new cherokee sport. Its not bad on gas. Granted i have drivin better cars MPG wise but i wanted somthing fun daily driveable and will last and a convertable if i could swing it. The jeep seems like the perfect package just in a diffrent body. I know the wrangler was a curve ball but In the day that i have owned it it has really grown onto me. Its a lot of fun with the top down as well
One thing that bothers me is those doors. Are they aftermarket? You'll eventually grow to hate the slide-open side windows.
You'll probably want to track down a set of factory doors, either hard or soft.
They actuley are Factory. There called half doors. There growing onto me but im going to start looking for a set of full doors with rolling windows. The half doors are nice in the summer but who says there going to be on the jeep all the time
Id say get the hard top. Half doors are nice when you got to stick you head out to see if your about to bash your rocker panel all to hell.
The hard top for it is intersting. Its calld a targa hard top and works exactley how its named it has a removeable pannel in the front and keeps the back pannel on. Im getting the hang of the soft top though.

Why is everyone raggin' on PK for buying a jeep and not wanting to tear it up on the trails? I have a LS1 Camaro, but I don't drive like a bat out of hell, either. Hittin' it on the on ramps is about the extent of the the abuse I put the Camaro through.
We're now looking at SUVs and 4WD vehicles ourselves. Here in OK we've been hit with a lot of different weather related road conditions lately - Ice, snow, high water, even a bit of mud if I find my way out to my brother's house. I may never need to go off-road but I like the idea of having the capability, whether I ever really use it or not. In the same manner that I like the capability of putting the pedal to the floor in the Camaro, whether I ever actually do or not...

It looks like a nice Jeep (still nowhere near an IHC Scout, but nothing else is either )
But I'm confused. I thought in your other thread you said a truck was out because you'd get yourself into trouble off-road or something?
John Stricker
Lol it was a drastic change but i driove a wrangler before mine (couple weeks ago) and it turned me on to them. I also figured theres places around here that if i want to go off roading i can do it legaly im not going to beat the hell out of it. Like i said its way over kill for what im going to do with it.
When you are on a twisty two-lane, remember you are in a lifted Jeep from now on...not a Firebird or a Fiero.
Yeah, I thought about posting a rollover warning but, the sensitivity meter on this thread is already pegged so I decided to just let it go. It only takes once to learn.

I too didn't want to be a killjoy...but they ARE quite easy to roll. especially if you get over-exuberant without the driving-hours experience Have fun in your new 'Granny-mobile' ...just don't wreck yourSELF Nick

Ohh i know. The thing i like about it is you really cant go fast in it and i dont ever get the need to go fast in it. I have found oim taking turns a lot slower than i used to in my firebird and fiero's... Lol just to let you guys know i still do have the fiero's they will always be my 1st love

At least we know the difference between a Cummins weenie motor and a REAL Cummins.
Trust me, if you want to get a Scout owner's dander up, just call their Scout a Jeep. There are even bumper stickers that say "Excuse me, thie is NOT a Jeep." (As if anyone could actually confuse one for the other, it's like confusing a Vega for a Corvette)

I don't have a problem with PK taking his Jeep off road. My only confusion was in his earlier thread he ruled out any 4X4 trucks because they'd get him into trouble, now he buys a Jeep. I think he bought a pretty nice one, myself, and just hope he stays safe in it.

Sorry, John, my comments weren't directed at you (or blackrams, who asked a similar question) I was afraid that might happen, given that my post was immediately following yours and I didn't provide any quotes. Sorry if I gave you the wrong impression.
My comments were directed more to the folks on the first page who seemed to be baggin' on PK for buying a Wrangler because they're "weak off road", then baggin' on him more when he responded that he didn't intend to really off-road it. (Seems if they were convinced that it was such a weak off-roader then they'd be happy that he doesn't plan to off-road it...) Then I posted my own legitimate reason one one might want to buy a 4WD even if one doesn't intend to 'wheel it all the time. But I kinda agree with 87antuzzi that somewhere along the line this changed from good-natured ribbing into another bash PK party. (Again, not directed at you...)
Enjoy your Wrangler, PK. Like I said in my first post, I'd rock it!

I'm not sure about everyone else, but for me it's because he asked for opinions, and then treated everyone like a dumbass when they didn't agree with his opinion. Then turns around and gets the same thing he said he couldn't get. All he had to say was, "I don't like trucks", he didn't need an excuse, and really didn't need to lie to us about his Dad not allowing him to get one.
One thing I've learned over the past few months, Dad's are not around forever. And in the end you get to re-live every ****ing thing you said and did when they leave this Earth.

Again, I was not disputing that he bought the vehicle he said he didn't want. See my post to John above for what I meant...

I was probably too harsh. I was hurt by the way he acted before, and with everything else I probably lashed out too strongly.
I would love to have the Wrangler, and I don't doubt it's abilities, and I imagine in the future I will try to take it from him.
Anyway, heed my advise, Dad's are not around forever, and once we lose them everything we have done to them, and never talked about (or worked out) comes back to haunt you. Heck stuff you think you worked out, but never talked about.

No worries and no offense taken. I just wanted to be clear that I don't have a problem with his Jeepster or him off-roading it. I just recalled in the thread about what car he should be looking out he ruled out a truck for the exact reasons the new Jeepster will be good at.
I actually like PK quite a bit and to be honest, even his grammar and spelling have improved in his posts (thank you PK), it shows he's trying and gives a darn about things, something a lot of people don't do anymore.

Couldn't agree with you more, John. PK is a good kid, IMHO, and he IS trying. That deserves more kudos than anything...he is TRYING., (NO pun intended )because he cares enough about what others think about him. That is a very good sign, IMHO. Good on yer, PK!! Amongst many others, I never forget your involvement on the 'Tyler' project. You have a heart of gold Enjoy your life, and take care! Nick

Thanks a lot you guy's, I really enjoy this forum and the people on it. Brad i dident mean to get under anyones skin with the last thread. I dident want an SUV at first but for some reason ended up with a jeep and i couldent be happier. I dident mean to offend anyone in the last thread.
Here's a serious off road vehicle for yah.... video below
I wanted to say also on the Rubicon, that the sway bars detaches with a button for rock climbing. Great low gearing for when you need it.. There is a S/C kit for them to bring up the hp to 290ish.
I always wanted a jeep but we'll see..It'll have to be a hard top and my wife wants the four door. I own a 97 ranger now ext cab 4.0L 4x4. It has a 6 inch Superlift kit and I rarely got stuck. I've been off-roading for awhile now but my truck has 213,000 miles
That's hilarious! I laughed my .... off!
