WoW Lineage 2 Everquest Guild Wars Recently found a hacked version of Everquest that is free to play on privately owned servers, it's pretty kewl. I'm told they have the same type things for L2 and WoW also, but I haven't looked into those.
Currently playing WoW again. Character is a Horde Blood Elf Death Knight on Lightbringer server named Disruption. Level 71 right now, working on getting it to 80 by mid Febuary. My wife is planning to do a faction transfer on her 80 DK Night Elf so she can play it on Horde side.
I've tried but never could get into WoW. God forbid the fiancee ever find out about it though. I've got her hooked on RPGs for the Xbox360
When I first started playing EQ my wife hated it! She was always pissed at me because I spent so much time playing it. I kept telling her to try it... She finally figured if I can't beat him I'll join him. She liked the game so much she had 3 or 4 level 70+ characters to me 1. By the time I got a second level 70+ she had 6 or so.
I'm not to big on WoW. WoW is okay but Everquest was my MMO adiction. I can't even begin to add up the countless hours I spent playing EQ over the 5+ years that we played it.
I don't let myself get that engrossed in a MMO anymore. I just can't see devoting that much of my time like I used to.
I have played several in the past... well tried them out at least. I played UO from beta until about 3 years ago. Just got bored with it. I want to play Eve Online, but never have the time to dedicate to it.

I cannot wait until you get married and she flips on you lmao.
Can you talk to Rachel and try to get her addicted? I wanna play my RPG games again. I avoid WoW after a friend paid for me to try it for a month, and I don't really remember anything else from that time period.
It was a lot like when I used to party, everything else just kinda faded into the background, work, marriage, food. All available energy went to WoW.

I started about 9:20 and had some issues with the patcher style download. I had to download the 7 individual files. 10:20 now and it's installing the files I downloaded so assuming there isn't any patching to do after the install a hourish sounds about right.

Still downloading, just over a gig so far. It started out downloading pretty fast but has fallen off.

The movement is kinda wierd. Having to adjust your camera angle if you go back and forth between click or arrow key movement. That and having to rotate the camera to look around rather then spinning in place with the arrow keys. I'll have to give it a little more time and see if I can "go with it". Will have to download DE and see what it's like also. But that will have to wait until next weekend or the next snow day off, so I bookmarked the website.

Oh yeah... one last comment on the Runes of Magic game. Kinda... unique character customization. I mean if you like a girl with a skinny waist and a ghetto booty with rocket boobs... You can make it, LOL.

Well, after trying DE and RoM, I figured I'd post this up for people to try.
EqEmulator is the Everquest emulated servers that are free to play on. That link tells you what's needed and how to go about installing it. You need the Titanium Edition software, or the Secrets of Faydware software. If anyone wants to give this a try and doesn't have access to the software, PM me and I'll try to figure a way to get it to you. I may have to burn my EQ directory to a couple of DVD's and mail them out. I think I could probably work something up that had everything all set up and ready to go, just drag and drop from a DVD. I'll have to check the directory size though to be sure.
As far as games go, newer ones have better graphics, but EQ has so much content. It was one of the first MMORPG's being out now for over 11 years and still going. I haven't played on EQLive since SoF came out but I still have friends that play.
Anywho, if you want to check it out, I'll do what I can to help.
Edit: Oh, a screenie just to get a idea of graphics.
And one that shows my character with the UI turned off.
Edit:Edit: I checked the directory folder with the files modified to play on EQEmulator is a little over 3.5gig so I could easily put it on a DVD and send it out. Then all you would need to do is drop the folder on your hardrive, create a short cut and register/create a account at the EQEmulator site.

I'm playing Dungeons and Dragons Online right now. Free with optional premium content. Four main things I like about it: - combat is not just 'stand in place, kick them, they kick me, repeat'. You can do that if you want, but there's a lot more action possible. - actual stories and meaningful quests. Instead of just a thin cover for 'kill x of y and collect z', each dungeon has a backstory and different objectives. There is narration as you go through dungeons, too. This is D&D after all, the whole point was to gather friends around a table and tell a story. You are of course free to skip dialogue if you so choose. - instanced content. You have your city hubs, then the wilderness and dungeons are just you and whatever friends you have in your party. - dungeons can be done on four difficulty settings (five once you hit level 20), with harder giving more xp and loot. This allows you to solo just about everything if you want to, or go for a bigger challenge once you have a better idea of the layout and a few friends with you.
Coming from a WoW perspective, and not having played D&D before, it took a bit to adjust to the terminology and style, but personally I like it much more. ddowiki.com is a great resource for learning more. Also, after upgrading my pc recently I put the graphics on 'ultra high' settings, and I think the game looks really great, too.

You should have called the thread "Join me in DE" instead of "Anyone here play MMORPG's?"

I love MMORPG's and I believe my wife will as well. HOWEVER, the only video game she has ever really "got into" was Zelda, (which is a personal favorite of mine as well) and I need to find a game similar to it in order to "hook" her.
Once she is hooked in a game I can play all I want .
The key is we will both need to be able to play, it must be fairly simple for beginners, and advance as you go. She is a beginner, and though very smart, she will have to learn quite a bit.
Price is important as well, since it needs to be free.
Ideas?
Brad

Free on both counts. The premium content is 'adventure packs' (extra quests and areas), unlocking a few races and classes (though most can be unlocked for free if you play long enough), and random items that can help but aren't essential. This shows a list of all the free to play areas: http://ddowiki.com/page/Guide_to_Free_to_Play Keep in mind the max level in DDO is 20. I have one character almost level 8, and I haven't been to half of those places yet.
Jeebus, the game will be over before I get it downloaded. Not a chance it's packed somewhere and I can torrent it is there?
Yep, it's available on Torrent site. Thank goodness, the down loader is a type of torrent as well, though I have no idea how well it works, I'll have to wait and leave the computer at a friends house, hard wire in, and download it there, otherwise I am flirting with dialup speeds .

Thanks for pointing out DDO I'm gonna give it a try, downloading the tiered install now. Kinda getting tired of DE a bit for now, getting harder and harder to earn enough experience to level (I'm at lvl 156 though, with a job class...doesn't surprise me much lol).
Edit: Any idea if it is joystick/gamepad compatible? I need a reason to use this Logitech Chillstream controller I have lol

It does support gamepads, how well I'm not sure as I don't use them. It is nice that the installer downloads the starter area first so you can play that while the rest downloads. Enough to keep a newbie busy for a while

I used to be a hardcore raider on Medihv in WoW. I was a Tauren Warrior Tank named Katore. I loved BC and cleared BT far pre mega-nerf and cleared SP after we farmed BT for a couple of months but alas, I HATE RoTLK! I pioneered Nax with my guild early on but I got bored and decided to quit playing and pass my guild onto a friend. Apparently it fell apart shortly after that.
Lol, I haven't seen a nyhm video in a while!
Cars and Fieros have become my new clutch!

I played WoW for 2 months (the free month and one paid month) then I stopped playing I got to level 63 PvE on Rexxar with a Orc Rogue. I've been meaning to subscribe again as I rarely leave a game unfinished.. I'll at least level my main out and see what the new expansion is like.
Anarchy Online I tried a couple times but it always gave me problems with my hardware it didn't seem to like 9800 GX2's or GTX 295's very well.
I guess the Star Trek game is fun might give that a try as well.
HAHAHAHAHA! WoW is never finished! Don't kid yourself. Blizzard wont kill WoW as long as there are people out there with shitty gaming computers that can't handle newer games.
