I have an older dlink its been a work horse and has gave me years of service. What kind of routers are you guys using? I don't think they should effect bandwidth, could be the router part of it I guess but I only have one computer hooked to mine right now. With the other equipment plugged in Modem plugged into the computer
no wonder i had such a hard time getting the dew wipe videos uploaded. I could have mailed them to youtube and been faster.
Seriously, that isn't bad at all. You have good download speeds and reasonable upload speed.
At those speeds, downloading a typical 700Mb (one CD's worth) movie would take about 9 minutes. Uploading the same 700Mb movie would take 3 hours. But upload is always much slower than download (unless you have a $1000 a month SDSL line). So really, those aren't bad speeds at all.

I have to ask you guys with those high speed connections.
Do pictures load, or just appear?
With cable they do still load, I mean you can see it build the pic starting at the top but it takes less than a second or two to build it in full. Depends on the quality and size.

My sad connection Sad considering I pay $100 a month and it is supposed to be 4 times faster than the best I ever get. My neighbours on the same plans get almost double my speeds. Makes no difference if we swap equipment and move stuff to each others houses. I have the crap line.
Yet I get a better speed to a server further away

heres what $25/mo from the local cable company gets me
local cable company just claimed an upgrade, and i just had to reset my modem, i ran it before i unplugged it and it was identical to the above one i did way back,... and here is the current one after the "upgrade" ------------------ AIM:Onefast2M8 00 VW GTi VR6 -- Not stock 06 VW GTi 2.0t

Now with FIOS for $15 more per month than the budget DSL! Cliff, I'm intrigued about 'overclocking' a modem. Got links? I'm sort of familiar with bridging the modem, bonding ports and a few other things it's too early to throw out there, but I didn't know you could up your speed on the user end over what the ISP is giving. (I'm paying for 15MBs, and I usually sustain that.)
