To be serious, I think the idea of the question is actually: Would Jesus have carried a gun if he was not immortal and guns were available? In other words, would Jesus think it morally correct to carry a gun? I actually think that the first person to ask this was attempting to make the point that Jesus would not have. My thought is that a study of biblical history whether you be Christian or not would indicate that Jesus would have carried a gun in those circumstances. The question is obviously silly and the answer has the opposite effect to the argument than what was expected. The argument though is serious because some people give it credibility. I was trying to make light of that fact.

Jesus didn't come to setup or destroy governments. He came to show us how to live within God's will, and to redeem us from our sins that we might be restored to Him. The battle He was involved in was a 'spiritual' battle. A weapon would have been of no use nor was it needed.

I'm sorry, I don't believe this statement to be entirely accurate. I have no argument with the concept that it was a spiritual battle, but the very way in which Jesus conducted the battle would seem to indicate that, at least part of, the battle was to agitate the government or at least those in power. I don't think the fact that he caused that effect was passive, I think he realized that his actions would cause turmoil in the political arena and he thought that necessary to his cause.

Peter lops off somebodies ear anyway (Oh, that impulsive Peter) and Jesus fixes it on his way out as he has been arrested.

So, if he didn't carry swords then, he wouldn't carry a gun now.

Good example.

However god is just, forgiving and perfect all at the same time, knowing the reasons and heart of anyone in any given instance. Can we fully understand that? Gun or not, deadly force has it's place. Essentially I think the concept in this thread of would Jesus carry a gun is merely a jab at "religious people" from folks who despise tools like guns.
