You have been hosed AGAIN. Remember Newt Gingrich? Yes, PFFers, another God, Guns, and Family man "forgot" to keep his pants zipped. THIS ONE was touted as a front runner in the 2012 Presidential race. Your latest hypocrite is named Mark Sanford. He is the Governor of South Carolina.

Sanford Affair a Blow to GOP Values Brand June 24, 2009 04:59 PM ET | Dan Gilgoff | Permanent Link | Print By Dan Gilgoff, God & Country
South Carolina Gov. Mark Sanford's admission today that he had an extramarital affair strikes another blow to the GOP's brand as the party of family values, particularly in a region of the country—the Deep South—that has become ever more critical to Republicans, who've lost ground recently in the Northeast and the West.
Outside South Carolina, "Sanford is most well known in states like North Carolina, Georgia, and Florida, which are growing more competitive for Democrats," says Cornell Belcher, a Democratic pollster who worked for Barack Obama and the Democratic National Committee during the 2008 campaign season. "This is devastating for the Republican Party in the very region where it has to make gains."
Fast on the heels of an admitted affair by Nevada Sen. John Ensign—another emblem of the GOP's values brand—Sanford's announcement also makes it harder for the national Republican Party to maintain credibility with the values voters who've been most loyal to it. http://www.usnews.com/blogs...op-values-brand.html
Oh, yeah. John Ensign, another "Family values" hypocrite, was also busted this week with his pants down. My parents church frowned on that sort of thing. How do YOU feel about these creeps?

Why... he's just like John Edwards!!! Or Bill Clinton!!! Well, not just like them. His infidelity is between him and his wife. Leaving the country without his staff supposedly knowing where he went, not checking with the embassy in Argentina... those are the things to get upset about.
At least it was a (presumed) adult woman.

Well, one thing seams to be evident, Men who seek power tend to be horndogs. OF COURSE I am not able to prove a universal negative but,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
Adultery knows no party lines, how each seam to handle it is interesting though.
Worthless hack. Correction you are less than worthless. Your existence costs the rest of us.
Are you speaking about Mark Stanford, John Ensign, Newt Gingrich, or me? I'm not running for President. I never claimed to be pure and saintly. As has been pointed out time and time again, it isn't the deed so much as it is the HYPOCRISY that dooms these clowns.

A shame. I watched this man at the local tea party on April 15th and shook his hand afterwards. I commended him for not accepting the stimulus money. I had hoped that he would be on the ballot in 2012.
It's a shame his moral compass was not guiding him in the right direction in his family life. I no longer support Mr. Sanford and will not vote for him for anything.
Not so fast, my friend. If I were president ( ) GM would have to bring back the Fiero before receiving a single dime of bailout money. Oh, and they would have to kill the Escalade and phase out the other oversized vision blocking tall station wagons. They would replace them with.... station wagons, AKA long roof sedans. And I'd have inappropriate relations with interns almost every day. But I wouldn't lie about it. I'm not ALL bad, now, am I?

Well, I dunno Neptune--I didn't see anything in there about punishing them for the dang Aztec. Someone needs to be flayed for that one. Shulda been on top of your list.

Unlike a certain US President in the 1990s..... He admitted his infidelidity right away.
I think folks have learned from that one... you're gonna see folks admit to stuff when things start getting warm. A local SC news operation got this guys admission going.

You ever notice that Republicans who have mistresses are actually bona fide mistresses, but Democrats have to pay prostitutes?
It says a lot about a person. Just means that Republican dudes are great guys that women are attractive to them. Democrats? Assholes that nobody wants to be with, so they resort to paying hookers for their trim.
Funny how that happens almost every time a politician gets in trouble. It's almost like they do it on purpose. Weird huh?
Yeah. Funny. (not funny) Its only fair that the Republicans have their own TV network, and their own radio band (AM). I just wish they would stay there and let the rest of us move on.
(Thanks for the new neg, whomever.)

I don't really care if he had an affair or not. What does concern me, though, is now there are allegations that he took several trips to Argentina using taxpayers' money.
That's not okay.
Think about it - if your did that at the company you work for, you would get fired. Same should apply here.

But, politicians take care of one another no matter what side of the aisle they're on. Then they shaft the little guys.......all of us. We will never be rid of such people simply because greed and abuse of power will always be apart of politics.

The Pontiac AZTEK, not azteC.... and we make fun of people who call it a Feairo, so lets get this right...
On the subject of the Gov. Personally, I don't really care what he does on his own time. At least he didn't do it in the taxpayer funded office. This is an issue between him and his family and yes he could have handled it better. Now, we can talk about Clinton. The problem was that this was in the office and Clinton LIED UNDER OATH... and he lied about all the other women he was with. Of course, then you have Hilary who should have left him many times over, but she was too power hungry to do so. I have no respect for either.

Yes, this governor should be fired. He lacks the integrity to be in office. He should resign or be impeached. Either way, his political career is over or it should be. Whether I approve or disapprove of his affair, he has shown he lacks integrity and good judgement. Those are two of the most important characteristics any leader should have. Two governors ago, KY had a governor that got caught having an affair. He was actually using his office to assist her in keeping inspectors away from her business or actually the business of her husband. Governor Paul Patton is scum, he did complete his term as governor, much to the shame of our political system. His party has a strangle hold on the Commonwealth of KY.
I recognize that as humans, we all have our vices and desires but, we make the decision to lie, cheat and betray, those decisions have consequences when caught, the SC Governor is now facing the consequences of his actions, I feel no sympathy for him, only his family. I say this knowing I am just as human as he is, I have temptations also but, I try to avoid them with all I am. If I fall, then I surely expect the result of that fall to be painful. That does not mean that my fight or my belief in integrity was wrong, just that I personally failed.
Ron

I don't see the problem with crucifying this guy over this affair (and probable waste of taxpayers' time and money). I can see the appeal in taking on an Argentinan mistress, but then I'm not married and don't have kids. He is and he does. And he's a member of the Republican party, which claims to stand for some things.
I don't see the problem with a double standard either. Dem politicians don't claim to have any standards. They don't run on a platform of family values, integrity, honesty, etc. Thus they aren't being nearly as hypocritical when they're found to be cheating, lying, stealing, evading their taxes, taking bribes, etc. THEY NEVER CLAIMED TO BE ANY BETTER THAN THAT. So they should only be held to the standards of the law.
Even if society doesn't decide to punish him for this, the Republican party ought to run him out on a rail. If you claim to stand for better values, then you'd better be ready to hold your own people to a higher standard.

REALLY wish we could separate personal and political lives...
Repulbican or Democrat...Who the Eff cares who ya boink, just do your effin job...!
They should have Political cards, like in baseball . Containing their stats, their causes, their voting record, etc...
There also should be a transparency in the whole "lobbying" system...yeah, THAT'LL happen...
I'm sorry, but character does matter. The saying 'Character is who you are and what you do when you think nobody is watching' is as valid as ever. The difference between (D) and (R) generally is that the (R) SAY that they have or represent moral character. That's why they should be hung out to dry when they mess up like this. The (D) side, well, they don't generally hold themselves up as having moral character. (Again, GENERALLY). I know that's a pretty broad brush to paint things, but that's my opinion.
