How can you say I have no clue?? You seem to not know because you are the one that said its not possible. Yet there is a 1998 4G63 powered eclipse next door to my house. the GST and GSX and spyders all had 4g63t engines (well the spyder was a 4g64t) up till the bodystyle re-design.
just drop in a 4g63t with the proper mounts, wiring, and ecu and your good to go... just verified this with a friend who has owned several DSM's 1st and 2nd gen.
nothing "custom" needed to be made.
